Emily L. Durbin, or L. for short, has been practicing immigration law exclusively since her admission to the Washington State Bar in 2019. L. joined ERM Immigration Law, PLLC (ERM), a small boutique firm located in Seattle, WA devoted entirely to immigration law, as a law student intern and made the transition to paralegal and then associate attorney after being licensed.

Being between jobs, and having my case previously handled by the corporate attorney, I wanted to consult an independent immigration lawyer. In 2020 I reached out to Emily and consulted with her about obtaining a green card through marriage. Me and my wife are Asian and we have never felt bias whenever Emily talk to us. She's very respectful and kind, we like her.
My wife was k-1 fiancee visa when she came here, then we got married within 3 months, after that I thought that was all that I needed to do. I later found out that I need to file the permanent residency and in her situation, she couldn't get a job without it a green card. And this dragged on for 4 years yes she never had a green card for 4 years and it's my mistake, however, after meeting with Emily our frustration was finally over. My wife has a job now and is very happy

Emily and her team were just simply awesome and on point. Throughout the whole process, they were flexible and available. Our case was a bit unique and we had interviewed several lawyers that just weren't able to connect to our needs - that's where Emily excelled and offered options that we had not considered. Emily was instrumental in our immigration petition after our H1B was not picked in the lottery. She spent over an hour on the phone with me going through alternate work visas and what evidence to collect. Navigating through the immigration process can be very scary and stressful, and that's why my wife and I sought the help of Emily. She has been great.
