The true focus of Okinawan Goju-Ryu Karate-Do is to instill people with strong character, morals and discipline. Moral, intellectual and physical training combine as one to encourage positive development of the human spirit. Through karate training, a student will learn to focus and apply the power of the mind.
Students develop qualities centered on courage, morality, resolve and responsibility. These are facets of human character necessary for the development of humankind and which contribute to the health of society as a whole. In our everyday training, the karate practitioner strives to improve both mind and body.

The true focus of Okinawan Goju-Ryu Karate-Do is to instill its practitioners with strong character, morals and discipline. Pee Wee Classes focus on developing the fundamental motor skills and basic movement theory of karate, whilst instilling self-confidence in an engaging environment.
Junior Classes, like our other class groups, also focus on developing basic movement theory of karate, but students will also gain a more thorough understanding of the technical side of Karate; Kihon, Kata, Bunkai, Kumite, and Hojo Undo.We combine intellectual and physical training so that our students learn to focus and develop a healthy sense of courage, morality, resolve and personal responsibility.

If it weren't for this dojo I'd probably have given up my karate practice when I moved up here. Turns out they were a perfect fit and even though I came from another style I was welcomed and felt at ease immediately. Great people, amazing Sensei, and really good traditional karate training that's pretty hard to come by these days. Check it out, you won't regret it!

I love training at Seishinkan Karate on Main. It is my home away from home. I leave my worry sack at the door, trust my teacher, and sweat! The interior is beautiful. Sensei Ellis is knowledgeable and experienced.
We study traditional martial arts in the style of Goju Ryu. Go means hard; ju means soft. The philosophy behind the name and generally behind the art is a balance of hardness and toughness with softness is necessary for life in general, since in isolation from the other, neither is enough to handle the fluctuations of life.
Physically it is a full body work out while also teaching self

I've done a lot of training throughout my life and after my most recent school shut down, I needed something new. I was very particular about where I wanted to train; where I wanted to invest my time, energy, and resources. After a lot of searching and research into Goju Ryu, I decided I'd try Seishinkan.
First off, it is a work out. If fitness is your goal, look no further. But if you wish to dig deeper into martial arts as a way of life and for practical, close range self-defense, this is your spot. This is not a sport karate school and the aim is not to push you to higher ranks for the sake

I have been doing karate here for almost 10 years now. The community that has been created among students is really welcoming . Karate has also provided me with many life skills and discipline that has really helped me a lot in my everyday life.

I’ve been going here for 10+ years now and it has become a 2nd family. This dojo teaches its students how to become strong fighters both physically and mentally, along with displaying/teaching compassion and kindness to everyone who steps foot inside. The lessons learned here will not only help at the dojo, but will overflow into everyday life and make you improve as a person.

I have tried so many ways to get in shape, from gyms, personal trainers, running, diet, yoga, and many other things. I've never enjoyed any of them. This is entirely different. It keeps my mind engaged as well as my body. I go with my teenager and we are having a blast. Sensei is fantastic. All of the higher level students are wonderful. There really is no judgement in here.
