Quality, integrity, and communication are cornerstones to what we do here at Tabor Northwest. It is our belief that our customers should get the very best when purchasing our services, and communicating clear and concise is the first part of that. We won't cut corners, and we make no points for being arrogant in what we do. This is your home, or future home, and our livelihood. We are only as good as our last inspection, and we want the way we conduct ourselves to represent our values as a company.
Services
Owned and operated by Zach Cross, Tabor Northwest Home Inspections was formed after over 15 years of working residential and commercial construction in Portland, Oregon. Born and raised in a remote Alaskan town on the Yukon, Zach learned that in small communities, trust is earned. Hard work is a way of life in Alaska, and those lessons while growing up have translated well to the construction industry.
A home inspection is an objective visual examination of the physical structure and systems of a house, from the roof to the foundation. We test and/or examine interior plumbing, electrical, heating and cooling, attic and visible insulation, ventilation, siding, windows, doors, roofs, garages, foundations, and the general condition of other visible parts of the structure.
Home re-inspections are often overlooked, but are still an important part of a home purchase. If the seller agrees to make any repairs after the initial home inspection, the buyer has the right to have the repairs "re-inspected" to ensure that the repairs have been appropriately completed. These repairs need to be performed in accordance to current code and by a licensed and bonded professional (contractor, electrician, plumber, etc.).
Shops, sheds and detached garages can have many of the same features of a house. It is especially common that those features were installed incorrectly or outside of applicable code. Although a home inspection is not a code inspection, inspecting these structures can provide useful information and sometimes uncover unsafe conditions.
Radon is a cancer-causing radioactive gas. You can't see, smell or taste radon gas, so if it is a problem in your home, the only way to know is by testing. Radon comes from the natural breakdown of uranium in soil, rock, and water. Radon rises up from the ground into the air, and can become trapped inside the walls of your home.
