This was my worst experience at a hotel EVER. The room was disgusting; it smelled like cigarettes, there was a dead bug (possibly a bedbug) in my bed by the pillow, leftover candy on the floor, and the toilet paper holder came OUT of the wall when I touched it. However, the worst part for me was the lack of a deadbolt lock. It wasn't just that there was no deadbolt--it looked as if it had been ripped off or broken off of the door, leaving me with only the shotty room lock. I felt extremely exposed and unsafe, as well as uncomfortable due to the uncleanness of the --during a pandemic! I spent around

The owners are very nice. We had booked a last minute room through a 3rd party app less than an hour of arriving to the hotel. Upon arrival they had said, since we booked last minute we wouldn't be getting their standard room we paid for, but something a bit smaller (which we were okay with at the time) The door wouldn't open without putting your shoulder into it and the thick over powering smell of cigarettes and cigars made me vomit after 5 minutes of being in the room. When we had gone to ask for a refund to leave only then did they try to give us a standard room which they previously

It is more than poor. The moment we opened the door , we were welcome by a very terrible odor of feces and urine. We had a special child with us and he threw up because of the very bad smell of the room. Nobody wants to stay there even a second. It was really unhealthy. We asked the Front desk person to transfer us to another room but no available. We are booked for 2 days . Asked to refund us even one day because we will check out right away and look for another place. Unfortunately, no refund. We checked out immediately and charged
Us for the 2 days for the room that we never use. Luckily ,

This hotel has a good location. Walking distance from Balboa park and the Gaslamp Quarter. It looks sketchy from outside but the rooms are clean and have new furniture. The walls are thin and you can hear noise from neighbouring rooms. If you are not fussy and want to get something affordable go for it. Staff are very nice and kind.

Back in March, I made a reservation here. Unfortunately, Covid happened around that time and we made the decision to cancel the reservation. I called to try and cancel and was told I would be issued a refund even though the cancellation was fairly last minute, due to the circumstances. I called the establishment and the manager refused to give a refund or even any kind of credit. I then called Expedia who booked the reservation for me and after calling the manager as well, they confirmed that the manager refused to offer any kind of refund or credit. Now I'm out almost $200 for a vacation

I've stayed here before & it was gross but I wasn't upset enough to write a review until now because of the disgusting behavior I witnessed from their owner who started yelling at black people who were returning their key to a lock box that is next to his lodge. To be clear he doesn't own the fence that the lock boxes are on, Ace parking owns it & rents it to a property management company. The owner called these people monkeys & said they're bringing down the value of his establishment. Mind you these people weren't even on his property, they drove into the

We had driven 14hrs & wanted to rest. The rude receptionist said we would have to pay $25 to check in any time before 3pm. The free parking perk disappeared when i had to pay a $10 "hotel fee" which was actually an $11.05 "hotel fee". The mattress was comfortable but we didnt get much sleep due to the constant banging, people yelling & loud commotions coming from the room above us. Which lasted till about 6am. This is the only hotel i have EVER been to that i couldnt request a late check out. Theyd charge my card after 11am. I would not recommend a stay here unless u

Hands down this is the most disgusting hotel I've ever stayed in. The management here openly welcomes the uncleanliness and does not care to improve the situation in the slightest bit. These are pictures of where the homeless people went into my room prior to getting to bed and had some fun.
Granted I don't blame homeless people for trying to stay out of the rain, unfortunately it put me in the rain waiting to have the situation resolved and even though I calmly dealt with the situation. The management simply brushed it off and told that this did not happen.
Not only were there homeless

Look, I don't usually care where I stay as long as there is a roof over my head so I can sleep and a place to do my....ummmmm...."business". Unfortunately, the San Diego DownTown Lodge is a place I want to do neither.
You should know that there is no good place to park here. If you think you're "lucky" enough to check in early and nab a parking spot, you'll actually find you're screwed because a car is parked behind yours, trapping you in. I'm not joking. There aren't enough spaces for the rooms they have here. This will mean you'll have

Really odd location with the offramp wrapping completely around the building. When we pulled up, there were some less than stellar citizens hanging out on the stairs with their brown bags and chatting and there were some homeless tents behind the building. I actually kept on driving thinking that can't be the place, but since it was booked and paid for, thought I'd go give it a look.
The front staff was very pleasant and they had security cameras on and seemingly covered the entire property. Was informed that one side of the parking would be double parked if we stayed there, so we moved
