Services
As you enter the subtle elegance of the Gaslamp Plaza Suites lobby, you step back in time. In 1913 this nationally registered historic site was erected by Nathan Watts to be the city's first "skyscraper" - 11 stories of marble, brass, mosaic tile, and Australian gumwood. This excellence was extended into the banking offices of the financial institution that was to become San Diego Trust & Savings.
All rooms decorated in personalized European style. Superb craftsmanship is evident in the sculpted Corinthian marble, Australian Gumwood carpentry, hand cut mosaic tiles and bronze and brass embellishments which can be seen throughout the hotel. Accessible paths of travel to the registration desk and accessible guest rooms, and restaurants.
The nearest major airport is Lindbergh Air Field in San Diego, about 5 miles away. From the airport take Harbor Dr. to Broadway. Turn left on Broadway. Go 12 Blocks and turn right on 4th Ave. Take the first left on "E" Street. The hotel is on the left side at 5th Ave. and "E" Street. For any additional information, please contact the resort directly and we will gladly assist you.
Over 100 acres houses one of the world's largest marine-life amusement parks. Sea World is definitely San Diego's most popular attraction. See show after show after show and still want to see more. Sea World is home to the very popular Shamu show with giant killer whales, also see shows with dolphins, sea lions, water ski stunts and much more.
Our conference room will accommodate 15 people in comfortable executive leather chairs around an oval conference table. This is the perfect location for an executive meeting, board meeting or other type of business meeting. Please contact Sean Rittenberg or Madeleine Kershaw for further information and reservation.

I stayed here a couple of months ago it was my first time in San Diego and it was an amazing experience! Everything is within walking distance and there is so much to see and so many things to do! The view was nice from the 5th floor and front staff gave us a complimentary upgrade as well so that was really nice! Rooftop was nice too great view and nice place to enjoy a drink or two.
The only reason I don't give 5 stars is because Valet lost my keys. I gave them my keys when I checked in and when I checked out all I got back was my car key and they didn't care one bit about my situation

The staff is incredible. The front desk ladies always greet us warmly and acknowledge my children as we come in and out, one front desk later made sure to get a working DVD player in our room for the kids ASAP. Etc. Towels are always brought up to our room no longer than 10 minutes after asking. More like 5. All the valets were very nice and fast. One valet, Reginald, went above and beyond to make things convenient for us. He even went out of his way to make friends with my son who LOVES talking lol We enjoyed seeing him during his shifts and he made sure our car was ready for us whenever we needed

Where do I start with this one.
Pros:
1. Close to lots of restaurants and bars
2. Cool old historic building
3. Staff was friendly and helpful
4. Nice panoramic rooftop views
5. Nice corner suite
Cons:
1. Furnishings are worn and dated
2. 24/7 parade of homeless on the streets
3. Extremely loud music coming from nearby disco until about 2 am
4. Strong smell of Indian food throughout the building
5. Expensive considering the above factors

We had a great time at this historical hotel. Although our room was small, it was spotless. The sheets and towels were clean and smelled nice. The staff was the reason I am giving them 5 stars. They were very friendly and accommodating. Everyone smiles and greets you warmly. Check in/ out is done in a timely manner. Thank you for the great service.

One night stay with Kevin and Karina. Warm welcome, Covid ready with plenty of hand sanitizer and social distancing posting in place. Security access to the elevator, so not just anyone can come up. We reserved a queen with a pull out. Comfortable and complete with kitchenette with microwave and flatware. Had a city view from the 3rd floor from where you could see the hustle and bustle of the street below. Great location for the pubs and dining. There's a fondue place called The Melting Pot that I so want to check out! So why 4 stars? First, we were charged extra for a four person suite and

This was without a doubt the worst hotel experience I have ever encountered. In terms of hotels I am incredibly tolerant and have never complained or written a bad review about a hotel.
The only pros are the hotel itself is beautiful and the rooftop was a great place to hang out (since we could not stay in our rooms)
Cons:
They put us in a broom closet. The room must have been 50 square feet and the entire wall was a mirror. I have bad body dysmorphia and was forced to look at myself the entire stay and damn near had a breakdown by the end of it.
The window opened up 4 inches and the "

Gaslamp Plaza Suites--where do I begin? Let's start with the chewed up piece of gum in the corner right next to the trash can, the candy wrapper by the bed, then the multiple stains on the mattress of the window seat, & to top it off with the mind-blowing disrespectful customer service from the night-receptionist & the Hotel Manager Jennifer. For this to be an historical landmark located in Downtown San Diego it most certainly needs a staff-renovation & the valet service needs more employees because they tell you to call 10 minutes ahead of coming down but the extra 20-30 minute

I got put in a room in a corner without any windows. I felt like I was Harry Potter being subject to his little room under the stairs by the evil Dursleys. I felt like I was hiding from the Nazis. The room was clean but so small, dark, and isolated. I am not sure this room should be rented out. It's better off used as a broom closet. Thankfully I wasn't claustrophobic. The hotel front desk was nice but they would lock the front door after hours and and one guard would look at me suspiciously when I tried to reeneter the building at night.

Do not stay here!! Beware: misleading information. The pictures showed a king size suite. This is not what they promised us. We were crammed into a tiny room the size of a storage closet. Small bed with no room for a night stand on either end. A window that could not open all the way and did not allow much light into the room. All you could see was a wall. I don't know how they get away with calling this a suite. I will never return here.

I really liked the Gaslamp Plaza Suites Hotel in downtown San Diego. The building is described as "historic" which makes sense because it was built in 1913. Even though it is old, it is maintained very well and everything seemed to be super clean & working while we were there for 3 nights in July. We booked through a 3rd party site; but were still upgraded to a mini-suite. The room was spacious; kind of set up like a 2 bedroom apartment with the bed on one side and a desk dividing the room with a couch, and several small tables and chairs on the other side. The flat screeen tv

I love staying at old, historic places and this did not disappoint. The staff here did an excellent job, what with the Covid pandemic and all. They cleaned everything! Our room was excellent. The hotel is one block from the 5th Street/Avenue (not sure which it is) but right where all the restaurants/bars have outside dining since the street is closed to traffic. Close to the Trolly stop, and Old Town. Only negative would be the area east of the hotel, but coming from Portland and previously Seattle it's what it is these days

I'm a timeshare owner at this this location. This place is amazing! Right in the middle of all the action. The rooms are perfect for 2 people. They are very clean and well stocked. A huge thank you to Sean and Mary at the front desk. They were so wonderful and helpful. The rooftop is breathtaking at night. Make sure you check out Syrah below. Thank you for making our vacation a 10.

So we came here to spend time with the family and we had a ghost encounter ... first night the lights flickered and the tv turned off and on and then on the 2nd night the toilet flushed itself. While the clothes in our luggage suddenly was hung up on the hangers inside the closet, it was cool. Thanks for the experience guys

This is a great hotel in a prime location. It's literally walking distance to every thing at the Gaslamp. They have valet, which is cheaper than parking in the lot next door which is $40 overnight. Theirs is $32.
The rooms are nice and cozy with big doors that won't open all the way. In our case, the restroom door would hit the bed every time. Pretty annoying. So we ended up moving the bed over in order to accommodate the massive bathroom door. Another reason for a knock off on a star is their lack of variety for breakfast. Wanted something hearty but they only offered the basics.
