I booked this hotel very last-minute when I had to leave a horrible Airbnb experience early. The room was clean and comfortable. I especially enjoyed using the outdoor rooftop gym. There are plenty of machines, free weights, a running track, lap pool, and jacuzzi. Good walking distance to bars and restaurants in Gaslamp. Parking in the garage is $45 a night but the garage right across the street is only $24 a night.

San Diego is a beautiful place to visit and this hotel had good reviews. Staff was spectacular and very accommodating. The room itself was beautiful. The chandeliers walking in were amazing.

This also seems to be a very popular hotel for flight staff. I seen many flight attendants going in and out the entire stay.

There are a lot of fees at this hotel. Maybe it's just a San Diego thing.

This hotel is very close to the Gaslamp district. Right around the corner from Blue Bottle Coffee. Went there every morning! Also a very short walk away from little Italy. I love it!

I only took away

This hotel is absolutely Stunning! From the moment you pull up to valet, and the service is Exceptional. When you approach the lobby it is absolutely breathtaking. Class, Elegance, and a feeling of an old school class era. Gorgeous decor, clean hotel and bathrooms. Everyone has been really welcoming and nice. The rooms are very roomy! The pool is heated, and jacuzzi is very hot and relaxing. We shared a club sandwich when we arrived and it was really good. Strongly recommend this gorgeous classy gem.

Wouldn't recommend. Lobby is nice and goes downhill from there. Rips in the curtains, floor is dirty and stained. Furniture is outdated and smells like an old grandmas house. The tub took FOREVER to drain and when I called they said "yea it does that" .... Just inconsiderate.

For the price they charge go somewhere else.. I didn't step on the floor let alone open my luggage. Feels like a motel 6.

First, the good: the beds are comfortable, there are bathrobes in the closet, the live music on the veranda is a nice touch. I didn't use it, but the gym (across the street) looks well appointed from the pictures online. Our room was very clean. The food was fine. The clientele are very diverse in many ways, which is cool.

The constructive: this hotel is old and the decor reminds of staying at my great aunt's house (and not in a good way). It doesn't feel old school - it just feels old. Room service ends at 9 pm.

I absolutely love staying at the Westgate! If you enjoy an old Hollywood aesthetic this is the place for you! I have read some mixed reviews but I am happy to report with the exception of a carpet stain, my room was spotless! I could tell my room had been thoroughly cleaned. I love the green initiatives they have In place as well! The location is a short walk from seaport village and there is a fitness spa and pool just next door free to use as a guest of the hotel. The people at the front desk were very friendly as well. The only reason this is not 5- stars is the carpets could be replaced and

Such a rip off of a business all around!
For the monetary part: it's a $20 "resort fee" and $45 for parking!! The valet want you to tip for pulling your car out of the parking space in front of the door! They were upset that we just wanted the key and could make it out of the spot!

For the location part: it's right near 100s of homeless people. The sidewalks, and area around the place wreak of urine, it is unpleasant walking out of the hotel in most directions.

The spa next door are more interested in catering to members than to guests! Don't expect any decent level

If you're ever in San Diego for Sunday Brunch...treat yourself to this amazing brunch. Warning bring your stretchy pants as the many rooms of food --from seafood to desserts galore. The price was reasonable for brunch & we were able to get a reservation for two at a clearly busy time.

In COVID world, brunch is likely to look different.

ELEGANCE, SUPERIOR SERVICE and ALL THAT JAZZ!
The Westgate Hotel is our go to hotel when we are in San Diego. We go there to visit friends but I think I really go for my little slice of
luxury that the hotel offers. When COVID regulations permit there is great jazz being played in the bar at night and the hotel spa next door gives the all time best facials. Yes, better than the Surf and Sand in Laguna. This boutique hotel really offers it all. Parking couldn't be easier. There is a little cafe area by the entrance where we like to stop for a drink when we first check in. Just relax

Staying at this hotel was like staying in the lap of luxury. Firstly, the interior of the hotel felt like an opulent rococo period house with multiple chandeliers and statues. The service is spot on. Initially, we were told that we did not need a reservation for happy hour but later was told we did. I spoke with front desk, and this was easily straightened out. They need reservations for the Monday night concerts held at their outdoor restaurant. We left right before then and problem was solved. Their happy hour is delightful with boards of cheese and antipasto and whatever mixed drink you would

If you want to pay to stay in a dirty hotel, full of noises and rooms motel 6 looking this is your place. Don't let the pictures fool you. They advertise this place as " fancy" but it's not at all. DO yourself a favor and don't come here. Valley parking guys are rude.

Very elegant lobby area and beautiful place for nostalgia and historic hotel. The wonderful things about staying here is having the trolley right outside the hotel to grab to go to different locations around San Diego. Fantastic lunch special each day of the week at the hotel. The downside is that you don't really hang out in the lobby, which is the most beautiful part of the hotel , because the rooms are really dated. I understand they are trying to keep it as it was years ago when it was built in 1970, but it could use a little modern touch just to make it a slight bit more comfortable

I'm leaving this review specifically for the Mother's Day tea/Afternoon tea/Mother Daughter tea Westgate serves.

Don't be fooled! We went today and it was nothing like described on the website or depicted in photos! No flowers, no tiered dishes....it's hosted in the lobby and it was not great. We were seated on couches with the bathrooms for a view with a coffee table at knee height to eat from. It made for a long three hours of uncomfortable sitting (three hours due to slow service.) $85 a person and a huge disappointment. This is all the food (see photo) and this is how

The Westgate Hotel really made my 2021!

I grew up on an island that celebrated British traditions. The most important in my opinion was afternoon tea. We would have tea at fancy hotels, tea with neighbors and tea at home with friends.

The Westgate Hotel started offering it's afternoon tea to go, and starting the New Year off right seemed necessary. This has been the best meal of the year. I like sweets, but I love savory treats. It's the variety that is perfect.

The tea came with a bottle of French Champagne, so we can officially call it champagne. I chose had the White Ambrosia
