We booked this hotel just for one night, got to the hotel and they couldn’t find the lobby, come to find out the lobby is at a different hotel a block up the road. Came back and learned that the parking was shared with the public. They only have 5 official spots which were all taken. Drove around for another 30 minutes trying to find a spot and ended up parking three blocks away.
The room was not very clean, hair on the bathroom floor also dirty walls.
They also only give you two towels and when we asked for more they didn’t have any ?!?
Not worth your money. I would stay somewhere else

Great location and value. Manager is responsive to requests. No lobby in Diamond Head Inn. Must go one block to another location to check in. Parking is limited. You may have to park a block away at the same property as the office.

Update: My car was broken into my last evening. Had just filled my car with all kinds of things to help make traveling solo easier and safer. Every last gadget stolen. Even my Kleenex. A pocket knife, mace, leatherman, prescription driving glasses, chargers, my extra key. I was just sick about it. I cried for an hour. Take notice of all the transient surfer VANS. You'll know it's them when you see them. Park far, far away from those and you should be fine. The homeless here are harmless and never ask for a penny. It's these homeless traveling POS!

Great experience. Parking is ruthless. Luckily found 2spots while unloading. Definitely a great deal for the price and closeness to the water.
Stove is awesome but no pots and pans. Hmmm…. Anyway, great service and great value. Will definitely consider going back. Stayed one night and was very pleased.

We have stayed here a couple times throughout the years. This time we had an ocean view room with a balcony and the view was amazing. We sanitized the room when we got in and as we were wiping everything down It was all very clean. There were no hand towels or washcloths. We called the front desk and they only brought up some wash cloths, no hand towels. We didn't want to keep calling so we left It alone. They should also provide towels to put on the ground when coming out of the shower. In previous reviews some stated there are no comforter covers, that is correct. A little weird but they

4 stars because-- they couldn't find my reservation anywhere in their system when I arrived to check in. I had read previous reviews about that happening to other guests so when it happened to me I wasn't that surprised... but LUCKILY they had one rooms left.
But the room was clean, but the bed was hard as a rock. No extra towels and linens so we brought our own since we drove. Im Glad i always read reviews or else I would've expected kitchen utensils to use but I'm guessing due to covid everything was taken out. So we brought paper products to eat with/ on during our stay. Water pressure in shower

The office is closed for COVID. So there is no staff on the premises. It is an absolute free for all. Maybe a security guard? The rooms do not come with parking, you must find one on the street. Some people seem to be living out of some of the rooms full time. It's a weird vibe. The rooms are dark and musty, it's just a bad hotel. I can't seem to figure out who runs the place or who the owner is. Very shady operation. Buyer beware

Stay away. Dirty and dusty room. Hair on and in bed. Funky smell. Stuffy. Bathroom vent fan NEVER turned off. Switch for it wasn't working.

Office was "closed" and the only way to check in was to walk 2 blocks to a different hotel office. No mention of this leading up to check in date. Got hit with a $30 early check in fee(never heard of such a thing but maybe that's why the room was so dirty). Said it was $30 then added tax to make it $33.15. Bizarre. Stay anywhere else.

Very unprofessional management stayed at one of the room, while my car was parked in the back below the balcony. The guest from the room above were tossing bottles, food, beers while my car was below them and all a manager can say was " I'm sorry " after trying to reach him last night and multiple times in the morning

Pro's: The young woman working in the office was very nice and patient while breaking all the bad news to me, the room is clean and roomy. and it is very, very close to the beach.

Cons: The website is intentionally misleading. No laundry on site, no pool on site (both available at sister properties in Pacific Beach) no utensils in room (disposable would be a great option for them during the pandemic).

Check-in is 2 blocks away, so call ahead and ask where to go. It is rough going when you have luggage. And only 2 rooms actually overlook the beach so don't expect the experience advertised

GOD AWFUL! Condom wrapper and sticky stuff on bedside table. And DURING A PANDEMIC! Gross. Gross. Gross. The new room that they moved me to had weed on the lampshade and ash on the tables. I guess that's an upgrade from a used condom wrapper. Oh and a nice shard of glass in the carpet was another bonus.

We arrived last night to a sign on the office door stating we had to walk to the other office to ck in,, two blocks from where we are staying!!! When I questioned the desk clerk about the walk he said" you could have driven over" an my response was and lose the valuable parking space that took me 10 minutes to find,, not!!
So last night the room experience was well short of quiet, the air conditioner sounds like an F-16 on the deck of the Midway. The tv continues to cycle thru it's search for channels and the bed is a board with sheets.
With all that said it's a beautiful day

I would say this place isn't bad for the price but I did stay on Easter weekend. Plus I wasn't able to use the boardwalk due to the closures. But other then that it was a big spacious room for me and my family and the location is amazing literally 10feet from from the beach. It's close to many amazing eateries and places to rent bikes. I would recommend staying here waking up to the smell of the ocean water is a great experience. Yes the room needs some maintenance but nothing to serious. It was clean and spacious.

I would recommend this place to anyone who loves the beach and sun!! It's literally steps from the ocean and no more then half a Block from some of pacfic beaches best taco spots and bars!! There are many things to do with your kids nearby like rent bikes or go to the boardwalk amusement park. The room itself is spacious I had the double queen bed with a pull out sofa bed! I was shocked how big the kitchen area was. It was nice having a kitchen with kids they had a fridge and microwave and even a small stove. We where able to bring food and warm up leftovers. The kids loved it they had plenty

As you can see I am not one to write reviews. After checking into this hotel I decided I would write one considering how pleased I was. The location is beyond great, the price for a night was reasonable and overall the room was clean and updated.

So my husband and I check in. Upon check in the front desk agent let's my husband know that city will be turning the power off at 9:00 and all he says is the streets will be pretty dark due to no lighting. So we Don't think much of it because never does he explain that the room we are in would also loose all power and that we would not

The location is great if you are planning on doing some surfing and hitting the bars and restaurants. They are a walk away. The rooms are nice and beds comfortable. Air conditioning units are a little loud but they work great. The walls are kind of thin and can hear a lot through them but once again you are in a busy area. Laura was a great deal of help. She let us fill our cooler up with ice and gave us some helpful places to visit. Had issues with the key card the second day but it happens. Glad we caught the front desk before they left. Breakfast is just pastries and coffee but that's enough

Great location . Needs some TLC . Although they state it's been recently renovated it still needs a lot of work.

Another major issue is the lack of parking . 5 spots for entire property . No joke 5 total parking spots 1 of which is handicap. They will send you 3 blocks around the corner to park at their sister property . Not cool when you want to go to dinner at night .

Room key cards were a complete nightmare. We got new keys everyday and they worked sporadically at best .

Front desk closes at 11pm . No staff on site until morning. The power went out one night at 1:30 am. I went to

I gave this place 2 stars because it's in a great location. Otherwise, I'd rate it at 1. This place is a mess, the door wasn't put on right so we have to body check it open, there's holes in the walls and ceiling, the room definitely wasn't cleaned before we got there. We had the maid service come and they took our towels but did NOT replace them. I went to the front desk (they never answered the phone) and the girl there handed me 3 hand towels... They didn't have towels on site to give us... Really? On top of that, we came back from the day out and our rooms reeks

WARNING!
I have stayed at ALL three hotels that are in the their chain in Pacific Beach. (PB Surf Beachside Inn, Pacific Shores, and Diamond head Inn) I was foolish enough to stay at Diamondhead Inn. The staff told me that construction had just finished. (Please see photo's).

I called the San Diego building inspector. He told me that the Building did not have is Certificate of Occupancy. Dangerous construction area. But they still charged my credit card. DO NOT STAY THERE!

The only thing I enjoyed about my stay here was the location.

The most egregious thing is their claim to be dog friendly. Upon my arrival the man in the front office told me "you may not leave the dog in the room alone at any point or we will COME IN THERE AND TAKE THE DOG TO A SHELTER." I found this extremely offensive and it was extremely hard to relax thinking of that threat. Why would you not call if there was a complaint? Especially if you charge a pet fee. The other staff was there who offered an explanation saying "the dog just had to be quiet at all times." Which I

Free Parking = (means) If you don't find a public spot outside our hotel, you can park at one of our sister properties blocks away (whom are full). They should advertise that there isn't dedicated or assigned parking.

Continental Breakfast = Muffins and Coffee

Pool = (means) You can use the pool at one of our sister properties. Also should advertise this.

Rooms are decent for the price but could use some touch up. Doesn't seem like they do a maintenance evaluation on them often to protect the investment on their recent renovations. The grounds could use some clean up as well.
