We want to assure our guests that housekeeping is using Lysol cleaning products and we are doing extra cleaning of commonly used hard surfaces like door knobs, remote controls etc. Guests will be served by our staff along the buffet line on "throw-away" plates and silverware. The menu has been revised to include carton milk and juices and prepackaged pastries.
CDC and Tennessee guidelines prohibit guests from sharing utensils, toasters, waffle-irons etc. to prevent the spread of the virus. Effective Saturday, until further notice, the pools at Brookside will be opened. We want to remind people that social distancing is important and state officials may require pools to be closed should there be non-compliance with these guidelines.

To whom it may concern:
My recent stay with you was very disappointing. We had looked into your resort last minute and loved the pics of your rooms but, Walking into our room it was dirty, dead bug inside Tv screen pics will show this. Air conditioning leaking into room, con webs on light fixtures, safe was just loose sitting on floor not attached to nothing, sheets looked dirty and used, back door didn't lock. But then the second day after housekeeping came lol . No change bed sheets literally thrown on pics will show this bath towels ( if you can call them bath towels)that hung above

Very dated.
We found the bed quite comfy. The stream running behind the hotel is lovely and made for great background noise for sleeping.
Breakfast ($5) was HORRIBLE. Totally inedible.
No iron in the room. We called for it and waited over an hour and called two more times until we finally had to leave for dinner in wrinkled clothes.
Good location. Kind front desk agent.

We stayed here and had high hopes since the pictures look good.
Pros: you can walk to and from Downtown Gatlinburg which is a huge plus because traffic is awful for such a small town. Also parking is not free unless you park away from the city. The river behind the resort is nice. You can hear it and it's a nice sound to fall asleep too. They also have a nice fire pit outside and a grill area. Parking was free. They have breakfast there which is a win bc the breakfast places are so swamped. It's just built into the cost of your room. We decided to opt out of that one.
Cons: lighting

I may change my star rating to one depending on the room. We arrived at 2pm and were told to come back at 3pm. There are hordes of people waiting to check in and are still being told at 4pm that it will be another one or two hours until we can check in. The only reason they are giving is that they had 50 people checking out and 50 people checking in.
Seeing as how this is a hotel, I am not sure why this is a surprise to them. I worked cleaning rooms for a hotel in college and this is super avoidable with proper schedules and staffing.
Based on the outdated decor of the lobby, I'm setting

Edited: when Hurricane Dorian came through our area, we left town. On a whim, the hubby said "let's go to Gatlinburg." So I whipped out my phone and started looking at places. I was happy to see this place was available and for a good price.
Changes they made: no more free breakfast ($5/person each day), the ice machine was working, no free firewood, no option for "do not disturb" if you leave the room.
Again, it's a decent place and close to trolley stops and other points of interest. Worth a stay but do your research for good deals, they'll tax you good

BEWARE I have stayed with this hotel before and they have significantly lowered their standards and quality. The room phone was completely broken and the front desk didnt do anything to get it fixed. The room was dated and the bed had springs popping out. Thin walls and shouting children at 11 pm when we were in the honey moon suite... What a joke... Front desk staff were rude and did not really help with the spotty wifi that was not operable most of my stay. The second shift staff in the evening on Friday April 5th were excellent though. Day shift staff left much to be desired, especially a older

I have no idea how this MOTEL received such great reviews. The good reviews must be fake. The rooms are horrid. Our air conditioner was leaking the entire time. The carpet was soaked. They had to have known this because, again, the carpet was soaked and we reported the loud sound it was making. You'd think that because they have terrible rooms, they'd make it up in service; NOPE. They didn't even try to accommodate an early check In. Also, my husband left his iPad in the room. I knew exactly where it was but they claimed they didn't have it. We did the "find my iPad"

We just stayed at this location this past week 5/28 till 5/30. We was supposed to check out on 6/2 but we checked out early and went to another hotel.
When we got there the main pool was drained, we were told the other pool was up and running. We go to our room and it's old and outdated with a broken dresser. I call the front desk and end up paying more money to be moved to a more updated room. We get to our next room and it's better. Wednesday the 30th we come back to go swimming and the second pool has pad locks on the gate. I go to the front desk with my two little kids who are ready

Let me start by saying everyone here was very friendly. The place is pretty run down and smells weird.
The main issue our group had was the caged large green parrot that they have inside a GLASS container about the size of my 6 year old niece!
When you get near it, he cries out for HELP!!
No joke.
The kids and adults were all very disturbed by this.
Apparently, they are advertising a place called Parrot Mountain where you can go to see more caged birds.
The add claims that "In the beginning God created all things"
I guess God just doesn't believe in birds being free?
It's

This is a 2.5 star hotel - I feel like some people are rating it as though they thought they were getting a 5 star hotel. So I'm rating it with the knowledge that I know I wasn't signing up for a 5 star experience.
That being said - as a 2.5 star hotel - I am giving it 4 stars because it exceeded my expectations. Our room was large with a kitchenette, nice bathroom and flat screen TV. The room overlooks the brook - hence Brookside - and has a small balcony. It was nice to see and hear the creek passing by.
Breakfast was exactly as I had expected - serve yourself with cereal, juice

I wish I could give it 4-1/2 stars. It's almost a 5-star. Found this place on Cheap Tickets.com for a really great price (including 20% off stay). Was looking for something cozy and pet friendly in Gatlinburg for a quick weekend getaway. Maybe even something with a fireplace. I put in all my criteria and up popped Brookside Resort.
Now the term "resort" is stretching it a bit. It's merely a hotel. But the rooms are big and they do have a fireplace in each room. I did look at the photos and reviews online. Most were decent reviews though the few that were bad did concern me
