Hydrotherapy for canines is a form of therapeutic exercise carried out in warm water. We offer a hydrotherapy pool that will allow the buoyancy and resistance to improve physiological function. The effects of water allow re-mobilization of joints which may not be possible when weight bearing out of water.
Hydrotherapy can also increase cardiovascular training, reduce edema, swelling and discomfort. Amanda has been awesome with Loki. When our pup broke her leg, Heather and I knew it would be a long road. What we didn't know is that when the splint was removed, Loki wouldn't know how to use her back leg anymore.

Services
Augustak9trails is a full service facility devoted to canine health and referral rehabilitation. We promote weight loss, strength training programs, rehabilitation, young and geriatric wellness. This can be done through physical activity and use of hydrotherapy. Just like us humans, pets can greatly benefit from physical rehabilitation as they endure or recover from joint, muscle trauma, and surgery.
I've been a dog owner and involved in all types of small and large animals my entire life. I graduated from West Virginia University where I earned my Bachelor of Science Degree in Animal Science. I'm also a licensed Veterinary Technician and in 2018 I became a Certified Canine Rehabilitation Practitioner from the University of Tennessee.
Yes, swimming in a pool is much different than lakes, rivers, and ocean. Each pet will need the scheduled initial new pet session to ensure they can adjust and safely swim in the pool. A staff member will determine whether your pet is an assisted or a free swim after the initial session moving forward.

In a few short months, this has become my absolute favorite place to bring my pup. I have a lab who from the start has had back leg issues/weight issues/etc. so I had my eye on trying hydrotherapy for the longest time, and finally back in the fall decided to give it a go.
Sirius and I go once a week to swim with "Ms. Rachel" as we refer to his "swim teacher," and it has been the best possible thing I could've done for him. Not only have I noticed HUGE improvements in his back leg mobility (jumping, walking, pain levels), but it's also helped slim him down and gives him a great outlet to let out

I have nothing but praise and amazing things to say about Augusta K9 trails. As a veterinarian and helicopter mom, I’m over the top picky and protective about anyone who treats or comes into contact with my four legged baby. I sing the praise of Rachel as she is kind, caring and patient with both Mahina and myself. In just a handful of sessions Mahina’s mobility is improving! These people are wonderful and your pet will see results!

Amanda is AMAZING! My dogs, McKenzie, Grady & Gunny, love her MORE than me ... & I'm their mom!
Amanda is one of the best CCRTs I've ever worked with - she loves my dogs & is patient & attentive to their needs. All of my dogs are benefitting from their swim therapy.
Amanda is extremely professional & willing to work with my crazy schedule- which I really appreciate.
I think Rachel is lovely & a wonderful addition to the team.
I highly recommend Augusta K9 Trails - neither you or your dogs will regret it

What can I say - We owe a happy year of good health of our senior pup to Amanda. Our sweet Cesar is a bit long in tooth but full of sweetness and increased mobility thanks to a twice a week therapeutic swimming regime in the pool at Augusta Trails in Staunton. Amanda is very knowledgeable, fun and energetic. Swimming has done wonders for our guy!!!

Amanda is just the best! My shepsky, Zula, pulled her iliopsoas muscle a few months ago, so she needed to recover and heal. Thankfully she didn't need surgery, but water therapy was recommended to us via the vet specialist and a friend of mine, both of whom know Amanda. Zula was pretty apprehensive about getting in the water, but Amanda worked with her and was patient as she got more comfortable. After a couple of sessions, Zula really took to the water (and, as a bonus, looked adorable in her life vest). I could tell that Zula looked forward to her time seeing Amanda each week because she just

My two Chesapeake Bay Retrievers, one 8 and the other one 6, love to come for sibling swims with Amanda. She challenges them yet provides them with enough rest and recovery so they are not over-worked. Since they have been swimming with her, they both have improved their endurance and skills. I love forward to going with them each time and knowing how much they are enjoying themselves. I would recommend Amanda to any pet parent seeking rehab or just plain fun for their pet.
