I was in the area out appreciating another sweeeet spring day. Not yesterday but I've stayed at the Surf City Inn and I had a excellent stay. Everything was great, even a surprisingly decent price. Being a tourist town during a pandemic a good deal wasn't expected.

Wasn’t a totally bad experience. Fair price, Indoor pool and hot tub, free WiFi, complementary breakfast, and kitchenette in room. Only issue was our key/door didn’t work. Must have been the door itself because, apparently the guests before us had the same problem. We had to get the owner to let us in to our room every time we wanted to get back in. (We were exploring the city, so we had planned on going in and out.) that was the only part that was a drag.

This is one of the best lower prices hotels near the board walk. The staff is friendly. The rooms are clean and recently renovated. They allow pets, and there is a small park right next door for walking the dog. There is an indoor pool and hot tub in a separate building, but if there are kids in it, their noise is amplified. The 2 major drawbacks are the lack of an elevator so if you are upstairs, keep that in mind, and the other is they no longer have breakfast. Beds are reasonably comfortable, they have 2 bedroom units and all have a mini fridge and microwave. I will stay there again.

This Inn was definitely one of the worst hotels/Inn I have ever been to. Place was filthy , holes in the walls , mold , and rude clerks that will ignore you while on their phone. On another note, literally half the building was burnt from a previous fire . Please don't waste your time here . Even the cockroaches seem to be looking elsewhere for vacancy. The management should be embarrassed with this mediocre establishment.

Centrally located between the boardwalk and downtown. Comfortable and quiet enough. Not a bad place at all. The desk was helpful and courteous. For my money, it's a total go, Worth checking out, and checking in. 🆒🆗✌️

With you could do zero stars. This dump should be condemned and out of business.

As soon as I turned down the st. and saw this place my heart sank. Part of the building is covered in tarps because of a fire! Probably from druggies. I saw one drug deal within the first hour. Prostitutes and drug dealers in the parking lot and staying at the motels. Drug addicts living in car and trailers and working on them in the st. Entire families also living at motel (that is sad)

Rooms are very overpriced. $50 dollars per dog per night. Rooms are filthy, dirty carpets, dirty towels, strange splatter on

There's so many things, first of all when we walked up we saw that there was fire damage. It did not say anywhere on Booking.com about the fire damage. It looks run down, and not like a hotel that was near 200 to 39 there's so many things, first of all when we walked up we saw that there was fire damage. The first thing we did was ask for a refund, we didn't wanna stay there at all. They refused to honor this. Instead they said- we could leave

This is one of the best hotels I have ever visited. This is really cheap and good where you can find awesome customers service. Me and my friend spent one night and I felt like home over this place.
I will definitely recommend you to go and stay at this hotel if you are near by.

Not a place I would ever stay at again. Their Website and photos are deceiving. I was told there was a fire 2 months ago in one room and by the looks of it nothing much has been done to repair it. Never made it to the pool or hot tub, it also did not look very clean in there. The room was old and it was not clean under the chair and the bedspread smelled. The only positive was the bathroom had been remodeled and was close to the Boardwalk.

We had a very spontaneous weekend stay in Sta Cruz and stayed here for a last minute booking. It's a very old establishment and not pretty well-maintained. Paid around $300+ for a night for 2 queen beds.

Pros:
- The location is nice since it's around 2 blocks away from the boardwalk
- Lots of parking

Cons:
- I just hope they clean it more and renovate the rooms
- Not that affordable considering the room situation

This place is a hole. First we got here at 2 and I asked if we could check in early and were told no. I asked if I could use a bathroom and he said for $15 we could check in early. Forget it. They won't give you any extra pillows. You have to ask for a hair dryer. Then the rooms are nasty! There are molding boards in the pool spa room. You have to run the water for 10 min to get it hot. The soda machine that sells water was out of order and there was nowhere else to get water so we had to walk to another hotel. The girl in the lobby said nothing when I told her about the issues. No apologies

We came to Santa Cruz on the second leg of our Costal Weekend after spending one night in a Hostel on Pigeon Point.

Since we were already in Hostel mode we didn't need a fancy place to stay. So we found this place. It offered two bedroom suites for a great price. The location is in walking distance to the boardwalk and probably also to downtown where you can find stores and other restaurants.

The suite is very spacious, simple, and clean. The second bedroom is a bit colder than the main bedroom.

The staff was friendly, but a bit confused about their services. When checking in they mentioned

3 stars is based on the price I paid. I got a 2 queen room for $85. Now someone told me the rooms go for $125+ a night...if true.... 1star. This was a bare bones stay. The breakfast is a choice between 2 bland cereals, instant oatmeal or make your own 2" waffles. Coffee was empty by 8:15am when I got there, orange juice was warm....... I have traveled far and wide...... So I knew what to expect......... But I had a bathroom and a place to fall asleep.

While the inn is minutes away from The Boardwalk, the inn itself has nothing else going for it other than location.
1) the pool is not as big as the pictures make it seem. In fact, it is quite small;
2) parking is tight and if you can't find a spot, you have to park in the surrounding neighborhood which makes it difficult as you are competing with other guests from nearby hotels and apartments;
3) the bedding has only a sheet and a very thin comforter;
4) water from the faucet smalls like the sewer;
AND, to TOP IT OFF,
5) while they do have a mini microwave and fridge, there are cockroaches

The room was not one of the renovated ones, but it was still quite nice. The breakfast was decent, I liked the waffles. 😊 The parking lot got full quickly though. All in all, it was decent. I would stay here again.

Great place, close to boardwalk. It's not the fanciest room, but it's santa Cruz. So to me that makes up for the fact they don't have pictures on the walls in the room. You can tell that they are trying to fix the place up. And you can tell that the people who own the place are nice people. They had a smile on there face when you check in, and they said thank you when you checked out. The pool is great too.

The good news is this place is less then a 10 minute walk from the boardwalk. The bad news is.... the place is dirty. Like there was trash under the bed that wasn't ours. They do NOT honor the Yelp early check in. I didn't even bother walking into the pool area, because let's be honest if they cant clean a room, I HIGHLY doubt they are capable of caring for a public pool.
You can tell they are trying to renovate.but they are doing it in the cheapest way possible. But the bed was comfortable, and it was close to the boardwalk so all in all I guess it was okay.

It was much better than expected. We got there and asked for early check in at 1.30 or so and it was no problem except the keys they gave us was for a room that hadn't been cleaned yet. Took them a little while to move us to a different room, but they put us in a room that was better than what we had booked. Room was nice and the bathroom was recently remodeled. Fridge and microwave added bonus. Spa and pool were in great condition and at a perfect temperature. The only other downside was our sketchy neighbors and other guests. Breakfast in the morning was good. They have a waffle iron which we

My daughter and I were covered with insect bites after staying here. Not sure if they were bedbugs or fleas, but we are both covered head to toe. These were NOT mosquito bites. So super gross. We spent the next day at a laundromat washing everything in hot water.
Also, the hallway lights here are really really bright and the blinds on the windows barely do anything, so I woke up all night thinking it was morning. Also people fighting and cussing in the halls until the wee hours of the morning.
I would NEVER recommend this hotel to anyone.

This is definitely a 3 star hotel. The staff was friendly and easy to communicate with. The room was spacious and clean. The breakfast was small and the dining area was very crowded. It is not the nicest hotel but it was perfect for an overnight stay. My family and I were able to walk to the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk without an issue. It is about a 10 minute walk.
