What a wonderful stay!
The service we received (especially from Jack and Jarrett)was impeccable. They don't make them like this any more...LOL...
We have been staying with Cape Resorts for well over 18 years now (Congress Hall, Star Inn, Star Inn condos, Beach Shack, The Red Cottage). This was the first time we stayed at The Virginia. I have to say it was our favorite stay. We did not realize that there was no elevator in the hotel and although the room we had on the third floor was AMAZING we appreciate the fact that they were able to swap it for a room on the first floor as my husband was not

We went here around Christmas time (late Nov/early Dec) and Congress Hall/Blue Pig Tavern do such an amazing job with their decorations.
The lights, the ornaments, the fire place... it's truly beautiful and I would come here to eat just for the ambiance alone.
I'll be honest and of course this is just my opinion, but their dinner menu isn't very "grabby". Nothing really stands out that makes you say, "We have to get this!!"
The two appetizers we ordered were both VERY good, but unfortunately that was the highest note of the meal.
We got the braised short

Wowed at every turn!
So glad to see that hospitality is alive and well in Cape May and especially at the Virginia Hotel. My husband and I just returned from an impromptu overnight stay and landed there, in the heart of Cape May on the most delightful street in this beautiful Victorian mansion. The staff was incredibly helpful and friendly, the rooms were spacious, clean and updated, there was water in our refrigerator upon arrival, the AC was set perfectly and there was an ice machine right outside our room. What more could 2 people celebrating an anniversary ask for! The stained glass window

A professional hotel with a boutique B&B feel.
Every stay at the Virginia has been one of notably personalized service from the staff, wonderful conversation with fellow travellers in the parlor, and scrumptious breakfasts each morning on the porch.
The place is a gem which hearkens back to the golden years of travel.

Stopped in for dinner on a Sunday night in the fall (off season). We waited to be told to sit outside. Once outside we were told we had to wait AGAIN while tables were empty to see if it's OK to sit outside. Seriously. We were sitting at a table. An hour and half we finally got dinner. No appetizer no dessert. There is nothing on the table. No bread salt or pepper even. Have to say very disappointed in the service.

I'm still reeling from spending LDW here. What an exquisite place to stay. The staff are all amazing, special shout-outs to Jarrett and Josh. Rooms and overall environment was clean as a whistle, freshly painted, and the french quince candle scent in the main entryway was unique and inviting. Unexpectedly diverse and scrumptious continental breakfasts. Location was also perfect... walking distance to excellent shopping, dining, sightseeing, and the beach. Luxury and so very worth it. Splurge here if you usually don't. One suggestion to owners, please limit children under 12 from the Ebbit Room

Premium price for a premium experience.
My salmon was perfect, wife's scallops were excellent but portion was small, bread and butter were decedent. Wine was among the best we've had in some time and I enjoyed the ipa
Bathrooms are not to be missed. The great fire destroyed quite a lot of the old hotel but one of the Iron wrought staircases survived and is here to the boiler room and bathrooms.
Eating locations are older interior with charm to spare, the glass enclosed sunroom or outside. All 3 are good options just depends on what you want.

We dined here for Sunday brunch. The menu has a great variety whether you want breakfast options or a salad or great sandwich options. We had four in our party we opted for a ham and cheese omelet , 2 turkey and bacon sandwiches. One burger. All good came to the table as ordered. The only issue was food was all room temperature, hence the review . It felt very banquet style. This is disappointing especially for the breakfast dish . The omelet was made with lunch meat style ham pieces. The turkey appears as a processed turkey product despite the menu stating house roasted. We had

A pre-dinner rally was to land us is at the Blue Pig bar for a cocktail or two. A red velvet rope now greets you along with a very serious young lady who wants to interrogate you on your business here. "We're here to grace your almost empty bar with two rounds of cocktails ($80 approx.)" That snappy rejoinder barely got us past the troll at the bridge.
The place was empty, what gives? Please don't let one of my favorite places in NJ turn into a pretentious, a-hole theater manned principally by the overzealous and inexperienced. Eventually, almost everything gets ruined.

Our first visit in 5 years but fifth stay overall. Although seemingly short-staffed those working did everything within their power to make us comfortable. The room was immaculate every day!
Room 102 could use a bit of updating in the bathroom as shelving was loose and slanted to the point that items would slide off. The bathroom door was also difficult to open from the inside and I had to help my wife open it on more than one occasion during our stay.
Noise of diners outside our window and music from the Mad Batter next door EVERY NIGHT were annoying until past 10:30... Insulated indoor window

We tried Blue Pig Tavern for dinner this time and things seemed a little off.
The mac and cheese as well as the meatloaf entrée were all on the blandish side. The food this time around felt more geared toward mass production without a lot of thought for the quality - considering the price. The meatloaf was nicely plated and the sauce tasty, but the bacon-wrapped slices were kind of dry and unremarkable. It also seemed like the bread basket we received was a day old.
So in the future, I think Blue Pig will be a breakfast-only venture.

The hosts were lovely and accommodated our party without a reservation. Our server was polite but pretty neutral and even aloof. The Mac and cheese and burger were just ok. The meatloaf was slightly more interesting with the bacon and sauce. The clear stand out was the bolognese. I'd go back just for that. Any trip to Congress Hall is delightful as the space is so well curated and decorated.

The Blue Pig is an excellent Brunch spot. The staff is always very friendly, on our last visit the waitress brought us a bowl of berries to go with our mimosas. If you go in the summer, I highly recommend ordering off the special tomato menu. I've tried a few dishes and they've all been spectacular.
The atmosphere at Congress Hall makes it one of my favorite places to go. I've also gone for drinks on the lawn, and while it is a great place to sit and enjoy a drink and maybe a snack, the drinks were on the more expensive end for what you get. Both of our drinks were served in nondescript

Beautiful property in a beautiful location. We went for dinner with friends. Too hot and muggy to eat on the second floor terrace so we were on the windows inside. The dining room is kind of dreary...no character. The service was absolutely the worst I’ve ever experienced in a restaurant on the East End. I found a hair in my salad. The waiter went… on to comment that they have no females in the kitchen with long hair. Wrong answer! The General Manager came over and made it right by taking the salad off the menu and picking up a round of drinks. Dinner was good but not the presentation
