Michael Prothero began working as a group and individual therapist in 1993. Upon graduating with a Masters in Counseling Psycology, he worked with the Yuba County Probation Department Victim/Witness Assistance program for 15 years as a Clinical Social Worker and Advanced Clinical Supervisor. In 2000, he started his own private practice business in Yuba City that has now expanded into a multi-therapist corporation serving the Yuba-Sutter area.
Michael specializes in therapy among individuals, families, parents, teenagers, and children. He has experience working with "at-risk" youth, and has developed and taught a teenager anger management program and a batterer's intervention program for adult offenders.

I saw Michael Prothero off and on for a couple of my adolescent years. Michael Prothero is in my opinion one of the best out there especially if your child is involved in risky behavior such as self harm or experiencing depression such as I once had as a child. He always remained very professional but not in a robot type of way. I always felt like I was in control of the topics our once weekly, hr long sessions consisted of. He helped me work through many childhood traumas up until the point I felt I no longer needed to see a Therapist. I highly recommend him.
