Services
Opened in 1994 as Reel Foods to serve Boise's desire for fresh seafood, Reel Foods came to the attention of Entrepreneur David Bassiri and soon became his regular lunch choice. After a few years of dining David thought simply eating wasn't enough, so he bought the business.
Shortly after buying the business David changed the name to Fresh Off The Hook to better reflect what initially drew him to the business, the freshness and quality of the seafood. An avid fisherman of the streams and ocean of the Northwest and Alaska, David added a unique flavor to the restaurant giving it a Northwest feel with a port city flair all in the heart of Boise.

We’d heard about this place and stopped in when we happened to be driving by. The seared ahi, the fish tacos, the batter-dipped fries... delicious! My wife even ate the fries cold at home and loved them. We went back a few weeks later for more! Our server was very friendly and the owner came over to visit. The free sherbet desserts were the perfect touch to a great meal. This place is an Idaho gem!

We started with the Calamari and then fish and chips. Excellent meal, huge portions, Calamari was so tender, very little crispy breading, cut into about half inch square strips. The salads (included with… meal) were fresh and well dressed. The cod was tender with crispy tempura like batter. it was chunks not fillers. They had a complimentary dish of sherbet but we had to decline as we were so full and took at least half our dinner home. Excellent service provided by Jason. Outstanding experience. We will be back soon!

My wife and I ate at Fresh off the Hook today. We had the seared Ahi tuna for a starter. It was cooked to perfection. Cut easily with a fork. Dipping sauce was amazing that came with it. I ordered the shrimp basket that comes with fries and coleslaw. Came out super hot and fresh. My wife ordered the Halibut basket. Hers was super hot and obviously very fresh. Wait staff was very friendly and brought us anything we needed. Highly recommend if your wanting a great seafood experience with a great wait staff.

My wife and I came in lastnight for dinner. We had the Ahi blackened for appetizer and salmon fish and chips with special batter. Jasen was our server and not only was he professional and educated on the menu,… he paired our beer with the salmon. made the experience extraordinary. this was our first time visiting the restaurant and as he said, that he always recommends coming to get our fish fix atleast once a week. Which we will start doing!!! very kind, professional and also recommended we all have our own dessert. so we tried 3 desserts and the toffee pudding is tantalizing. thank you

We have eaten their before and it was pretty good. We went there Monday and decided to try their bowl of cioppino and it was heavy on tomato and no seafood in it. Was greatly disappointed at they are known for good seafood. We don’t plan on going back there as the other food we have had there is just OK. There is much better places to have good sea food here.

Fresh Off the Hook ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I have been visiting the Puget Sound for at least twice a year, since 1990. So, I have high expectations for fresh seafood. I have been visiting this Boise business, originally known as Reel Foods, since It first opened in 1994. It is my favorite local seafood restaurant. They cook seafood exactly the way I like it. Fresh fish, simply prepared.
My go to is the Halibut Fish & Chips, which is what I ordered today. Instead, I received the Alaskan Cod ($10.99). Cod isn’t my favorite, but it was excellent! There were 6-7 pieces of fish, perfectly
