Have tried going here twice now and both times servers would barely, if at all, attend to us. the manager was involved both times we tried going but we’ve still been disappointed. knowing how a restaurant should operate as an industry worker myself, juniper is not it. food is wonderful once/if you get it. really unfortunate

Just tried it out for the first time, and I loved the ambience and apps! The brussels sprouts were some of the BEST I've had- pancetta, Caesar, garlic, parsley, Parmesan, and more.
Our entrées were slightly underwhelming- I had the duck breast special, my wife had the salmon- but I definitely want to return when their pizza oven is working!

Came in for dinner on Boxing Day and the kitchen was super short staffed-- several menu items were unavailable, but we barely noticed! Had Brussels sprouts appetizer which was delightful-- I could have used twice as many castelvetrano olives, but that's just because I love them so much. Entrees were the trout, which was both creamy and bright, and the kale and eggs which was such a beautiful combination of flavors and thoughtful ingredients. Service was on point and the atmosphere was warm and comforting. They had a great chillwave-ish playlist going, and the bill was refreshingly reasonable

What a wonderful place we stumbled on our last trip to Boise. My duck was succulent and the mussels are a must along with Brussel spouts. They make their own tonic so their cocktails are a great. The owner was nice enough to stop by and even sent us a wonderful desert. Can’t wait to come back! Don’t miss out on this spot.

I had higher expectations for this place, so I left slightly disappointed. First, the good things- the service was wonderful and the restaurant looked beautiful. We don't drink, but if I did, I'd probably like to come back just to sit at the bar during happy hour.
Howeverrrr...
The restaurant was freezing inside (everyone was wearing their coats). The portion sizes were small enough to leave you hungry when you left. The skin on the trout wasn't crispy at all and the beef risotto was bland. For our $80 dinner, I just had higher hopes.
I think we'll give it another shot someday

Stopped by for some drinks and munchies on a weekend food crawl.
The vertigo cocktail made of averna, house made ginger beer and lime was super refreshing on a hot day. The ginger beer has a nice strong zing to it which I loved.
The bread came out warm and the garlic pesto dip was delish!
Fried calamari was done perfectly. Just the right amount of batter for crunch but nice and tender on the inside. Went great with the arugula.
Restaurant has a nice modern feel and lighting is good for romantic dinner. I would def go back to try dinner.

I had a great time in Juniper!
All in all, the service was great, the cocktails were amazing, and the dishes were tasty and well cooked. The staff was willing to answer questions and provide recommendations. Additionally, I felt as though the menu was well curated based on what vegetables and produce was in season/locally available.

Best dining experience ever! There was a cheese board appetizer special that was absolutely amazing! Idaho trout as a main dish was excellent with a nice sauce and delicious potatoes. A fig cake dessert finished off a nearly perfect meal. Service was excellent, environment was nice in a lively part of downtown Boise.

I was so excited to hear that Juniper had reopened! Unfortunately, this was probably the worst food I've had in Boise. I was sure they had a new chef but our server assured me they didn't. They still have almost all the same menu items that they did before closing. However, they "revamped" everything.
I had the best mushroom risotto I'd ever had here last summer. I ordered the same thing tonight and it was the weirdest "risotto" I've ever had. I've never known a risotto to have tomatoes, peas and pesto. Yet it was bland. I had to add so much salt and

We went to Juniper to celebrate a birthday, and even though it was busy, they managed extremely well. Sheradan was one of the most friendly waitresses we've ever had- she gave us excellent drink recommendations and even sang happy birthday! The clams with focaccia are to die for, and the Juni and the Jetts cocktail is my favorite drink in Boise. Absolutely must go now that they're reopened- we'll be back soon for the great food and the great service from Sheradan and Jonah!

Juniper's back, baby!! Back and better than ever too! Remodeled inside with the star of the show being their brand new pizza oven on display for everyone to see. I didn't get a picture of the pizza oven this time around, so you'll have to go and check it out yourself but it is, dare I say it ... sexy.
The pizza that comes out of it is really good too. My mom isn't a crust eater but she ate this crust, so that says a lot. We got the Pesto, prosciutto, and burrata pizza- it also had olives, artichoke, roasted garlic, arugula, and a balsamic reduction. SO MUCH YUM.
If fried calamari

Pricey, good food, friendly staff, modern vibe. Clams were ok, the sauce was great but on the salty side, fresh herbs well paired. Cauliflower appetizer well made. Tenderloin was excellent, came medium despite ordered medium rare, demi glace too sweet (in good old American tradition), wild mushrooms had no flavor. Butterscotch pot de creme was interesting.
Staff was slow and struggling with pandemic protocols, but that's understandable. We did not try their cocktails.

My superstitious mother always told me to be careful how I choose to ring in the New Year because it would have a detrimental effect on how the entire year turns out. Maybe she was right. And let's admit - 2020 is anything but fun as of right now. Maybe it could have been better, for me, at least, if I had chosen to eat elsewhere on December 31 2019...
So for some reason my husband and I decided to leave the comfort of our humble abode to tred downtown to spend the new year eve. I didn't want to get too crazy so we decided Juniper seemed like a nice, calm restaurant to enjoy a late dinner

Duck Ramen - duck confit, poached egg, noodles, mushrooms, pickled red onions, pea shoots, togarashi 😛
⠀⠀⠀⠀
This duck ramen was great! My husband and I really enjoyed it. I don’t see much menus with duck on them so I was excited to see it in the restaurant’s new years menu! We also saved enough for some dessert and went for the peanut butter pie, which was deliciously creamy. I especially enjoyed the pretzel crust.
I would like to try other things in their menu as well. Can’t wait for all the foods to try in 2020, as well as all the new restaurants to be opened in the 208!

Anticipointment. That's what we felt last night. Juniper was a restaurant I've been wanting to try out for sometime. We finally had the opportunity to go and thought it would be a great place to eat before a show.
We knew that a Saturday night might be busy so we made reservations more than 2 weeks ago. The party of 8 was excited to have an adult evening for dinner and a show. We walked in before our reservation time and was seated to eat. Everything looked great in the cover. Other than a both table that was too small for a party of 8. It was literally shoulders and legs

The gin and tonic was fantastic. They make their own tonic which has the perfect flavor. It's a great place to come, hangout and have drinks. The food was very tasty. The pork belly fries and Korean spare ribs had really good flavor. The only disappointing thing was the fried chicken. It was too much dense breading and just not good. The butterscotch dessert was really good. It had the perfect amount of black salt.
