I lived here here a year ago but was just reminiscing on my experience living here and I loved it so much I wanted to leave a review.
To start the location is incredible. Trails to zilker park and lady bird hike and bike trail! So many amazing dining options and night life.
The maintenance team is stellar! They handled the winter storm like champs and a staff member was on call on site through the whole thing. It was so comforting knowing someone was looking out for us in such a terrifying time.

I have lived here for over a year and I absolutely love living here. The administrative staff are always available to help and answer questions. If maintenance is needed- they are quick to jump and solve the issue. Living so close to Barton springs and being a bike ride away from restaurants. Highly recommend

Stay away from any properties managed by the Medve Group. They won't have your best interest in mind.
Update based on response from Medve:
1. How is it a difference in perspectives when, the day I turn in my keys, the property manager literally agreed that if I couldn't live in the apartment I rented, he didn't know who could? And yet a totally different person who doesn't even work on-site and who hasn't 'witnessed' anything is the person who has control over my lease.
2. I never asked to be transferred but kind of ironic that if I did, based on this response

Barton Hills Apartments is a wonderful place to live. You are steps from Barton Springs Pool, Zilker Park, the Barton Creek Greenbelt Trail, and a nice walk from Lady Bird Lake and Trail, Auditorium Shores, and downtown. The view out my windows made me feel like I lived in a luxurious treehouse. At Barton Hills Apartments I felt like I lived in the heart of the city at the same time as being on a retreat in Texas Hill Country. It was the best of both worlds. Lived here for a year, fantastic! Marlowe, Chelsea, Vincent, the maintenance staff, everyone is just so nice. Repairs are done so quickly, it's such a breath of fresh air. Location is unbeatable, especially for the price; my balcony faces the green belt. The pool is great, you can easily walk to the trail or Barton Springs Pool. a very quick bike ride to downtown if you want, or just walk it taking the trail. It's an older complex so the walls are a little thinner, but that's hardly a deal breaker if you speak with your neighbors, who are all also very nice. There is just so much I love here, and

I love Barton Hills Apartments. The manager, Marlowe Nichols, truly cares about the property and the people who live here. This is not just a bunch of apartments. It's a community. People greet each other and if the Amazon delivery guy goes to the wrong apartment, you can trust your neighbor to put the package where it should go. When we had the snow storm, my neighbor across from me and I kept tabs on each other and gave each other much-needed encouragement.
It's in a convenient location, which is great, and the views are soothing. When you need something fixed, the maintenance guys are right

I have lived here for over three years. It is home for me !👍🏼 I absolutely love this location, my apartment overlooks the greenbelt so I can enjoy nature from my balcony. I walk daily to Zilker park or even to downtown since its so close to everything.
It us an older building with its quirks & noises.
But we also have a great pool area & a nice little gym . The staff & office are great , very attentive & efficient . Shout out to maintenance!

I'm a native Austinite and I have lived all over Austin. North, South, Central, and in 8 different apartment complexes. Never have I lived anywhere that had a staff as fantastic, intelligent, and caring as this one. Marlowe leads a team of superstars. The location is fantastic. The apartments are pretty good (it's an old place), but the office and maintenance team, are the best I have ever had the pleasure to live with. Kudos, for helping restore my faith in humanity. I love my home.

Barton Hills Apartments are by far my favorite apartments i've ever lived in. Marlowe is a rare gem in apartment community managers and I missed when I moved onto my next apartment. He is such a hard worker and makes sure everyone has what they need to live their best life while residing in Barton Hills. I've often thought about coming back if my path takes be back to Austin.

Let me start off by saying we hadn't lived in apartments before moving to Austin, but Barton Hills Apartments exceeded our expectations.
Our 2.5 years were filled with trips to Barton Springs, jogs around Zilker park, playing tennis on the courts, swimming in the pool and listening to the Sunday afternoon drum circle from afar.
This was an extremely quiet, safe and peaceful place to live. Every time I spent more than two seconds in the parking lot, I ended up meeting another one of my neighbors and having a wonderfully positive interaction!
The management, especially Marlowe, are amazing

I can't say enough good things about Barton Hills Apartments, Marlowe, Amber, and the entire team. I'm not typically someone who writes reviews, but I hope it encourages people to consider living here when looking for a place in Austin. I've lived in apartments since college (almost 10 years ago), and had never renewed an apartment lease, as I always felt I could find a better place for cheaper after a year. That was not the case at Barton Hills. It was a no-brainer to renew my lease. The community is quiet (never once heard excessive noise), parking is easy, and maintenance requests are handled

I loved living at Barton Hills! Marlow and his team are so diligent and take amazing care of the community and its residents. They all go above and beyond to make sure everything is handled in a timely manner. The maintenance team is also top notch. I was so sad to go! This really is the best kept secret when it comes to apartments in Austin the amenities are top-notch with a deep swimming pool, quick access to the trails, and my absolute favorite A MASSAGE CHAIR!!! (what other apartments offer that!!) There's nothing like unwinding by the pool or in the massage chair after a long day at work. The staff is super nice and friendly always giving a wave or smile when I pass by and going above and beyond to make life at Barton Hills more enjoyable. I toured multiple complexes when looking to move and none even came close to this one!

Lived at this complex for a little more than a year and absolutely loved it! The community is easy-going and safe. Enjoyed being able to hit the Town Lake trail a minute after leaving my doorstep. Maintenance issues were resolved promptly and I feel like management is on your side. Marlowe is exceptional and I can't think of a better property manager! He's sincere, light-hearted and has a knack for what he does. Definitely recommend this location!!

Update: 9/6/18 I've heard it said to always keep moving forward. In this case I didn't listen to those pearls of wisdom and moved back to my beloved South Austin and into a 3rd floor apartment (which is only one flight of stairs due to the design of the complex). The high standards still exist here at Park Place. I am always treated with respect and maintenance requests are done in a snap. My place looks over the Barton Creek Greenbelt where I'm visited by lots of hummingbirds, cardinals, bluebirds, warblers, and especially love it when spotting lovely white egrets gliding through

Short version: Location can't be beat, Property Mgr. and staff are nice and very helpful, pricing is fantastic for the area. Safe, quiet, and nice community.
Long Version: We (my husband, daughter, and I) have lived here for a little over 8 years and when we eventually buy and house and move I will be so incredibly sad.
The property couldn't be in a better spot, you are close to everything! Zilker park is basically your back yard. I've loved living right by the trails and river so that I could just walk out my door and run/kayak/cycle/hike without the hassle of traveling. Excellent

Hi - bitter former resident here.
As a former teacher, I think the parents who are teachers were some of the hardest to deal with - they have higher standards, and they were comfortable being vocal about it. I was definitely not a perfect resident, but I currently work as a facility manager, and maybe I have higher standards - but unfortunately I have to encourage you to find a better place to live.
The location is obviously killer (greenbelt views, easy walk to Barton Springs and Zilker Park, close to downtown, etc) but after living in BHPP for 1.5 years - I realized the pros didn't outweigh

I've lived in a lot of apartment complexes and this one is by far the best. They are a little dated but don't let the outside fool ya, they are pretty decent on the inside. Here's a pros and cons breakdown of my experience at BHPP:

There seems to be an exceptional wasp population here but it doesn't really bother me much. They take care of it but living on the green belt probably makes it a challenge to conquer.

After really wanting to live here and immediately getting turned down for having an Australian Shepherd that is only 40 lbs, I feel much better after reading the comments below.
"Are they dog friendly? Yes, but up to 25 lbs. If that's your idea of a dog, well...get your handbag out."

I lived here for about 1 1/2 years and overall had a great experience. You really can't beat the price for the location. The apartments aren't the prettiest on the outside, but they're perfectly fine on the inside. Obviously, the buildings are older and that shows here and here in terms of layout and some of the features, but they've also renovated - updated appliances, granite countertops, etc.
The office staff are really kind and attentive and the maintenance guys are perhaps some of the nicest people I've met. They were always very responsive and took care of us and

Great price for the location (3 miles from downtown). Carpet was replaced and appliances were updated prior to move-in, on a tight deadline. Tenants have access (via a security badge) to a pool, gym, and business center, which have all proven useful in my experiences. I factor that into the rent, for sure.
