These rooms are typical for a motel, and more affordable than some of the larger chains in town.
If you book online be careful about choosing a room because the rooms aren’t clearly labeled as pet friendly/not pet friendly despite the hotel claiming to be pet friendly. (There are only ~10 pet friendly rooms and the rest have hefty fees if you bring a pet in a non-pet friendly room). In our first stay we found out at check in the room we researched was not pet friendly and were luckily able to switch. People rating this 4 or 5 stars are lying to other potential guests and doing them a disservice!
Good: friendly staff except people running breakfast. They never once even cracked a smile.
Bad: construction noise!! very dated, every part is dated. I stayed 2 days and didn’t shower until I got home because the bathroom was falling apart in both rooms I stayed. I had to switch rooms cause the first one the door didn’t shut all the way, well neither did 2nd room, but I was kept up by a kid running up and down hallway til midnight. Then at 7am sharp I was woken to the construction sounds!! We

I showed up very early and the room i had booked was not ready yet so i got upgraded to a better room since it was ready. The pool was very nice the rooms were clean shower worked as it should. Staff was very nice had a language barrier with one of the cleaning ladies but nothing google translate couldnt fix. I would definitely recommend this place especially for how close it is to the strip.

For the price the rooms are not that great. The staff were very nice. My door was heavy and hard to shut. The water for a shower kept going hot and cold. My sister's room she kept hearing scratching noices in the wall and her coffee pot didn't work. No microwave in the room. The indoor pool was nice.

Always the good first. Our room was well cleaned and very spacious. Bed was comfortable. However, for $200, it is very dated and long overdue for a face lift. The carpet pad is so worn out that walking on floor is very lumpy. The fireplace is all but useless for heat. Nice ambience but no heat. Would not come back at this price

Sidney James is my favorite place to stay! My family has been staying here for the last 6 years and will continue it come back. People complain about it needing upgraded. However, I like the older feel. The staff and environment is always friendly. It's always clean!! The pool is great. The indoor pool is great for cold nights! We stayed in the Owl's Nest Cabin and it felt like home! I love the creek that runs behind the cabin and the rooms. Will definitely be back!

We stayed in the newer part and had no complaints. The staff was super nice and helpful. The rooms were outdated but we only slept there so it didn’t make a difference to us. Beds were comfy, floors were clean, bathroom was clean, no bugs, amazing pools. The breakfast isn’t free as stated but their cafe is very affordable and the food was yummy!!! Close enough to walk into town instead of driving and paying $20 for parking. The stream out back was super cool to watch. Sadly didn’t see any bears hopefully next time!

I want to give zero stars. Absolutely worst hotel I have ever stayed at. Bed terrible and I mean terrible. Linen had stains. The carpet is disgusting, it's definitely the original. Our fridge stop working leaked water everywhere. The AC quit, the TV gets like 3 channels, walls have years of stains painted over it. Parking is non existent, I mean how can I pay for a hotel and have to park blocks away. The shower head is 5 feet from the bottom of tub. The hot water last for 5 mins. But hey they use LED bulbs. All the money they make and they can't put money back in to the business. Seriously

Fantastic rates, clean, safe, awesome and beautiful location walking distance to everything! Awesome friendly staff upgraded our room free of charge due to a cancellation which we appreciated very much! Awesome pool area and cafe! Super cute and quirky rooms with everything we needed. We will for sure stay again and enjoy another weekend soon at these rates! Thanks guys!:)

The location was great! The views of the water from the room were amazing. The air worked nicely. The staff was friendly and even though I got there before check in was able to get my room. The pools and hot tub was wonderful. Now for the downside... The rooms need to be updated. The carpet was dirty and the shower had major back up. However I will be back when/if the rooms are updated.

Late check in on 9/3/21 and the 3rd shift man behind the counter was extremely rude. He made sure we all were aware at how upset he was that he was the only one there. Upon reserving a month prior, I had… requested a room on an upper level and when I mentioned that he said "you can request all you want, doesn't mean it will happen". Totally rude and unprofessional. Was told my room was on the 2nd floor, "overlooking the pool"... looked all over 2nd floor, couldn't find it. upon returning to the counter for help, letting him know we couldn't find the room, he replies very condescendingly

Very vintage! Absolutely loved the atmosphere!! The pool, on site restaurant and bar, and lots of hidden goodies! This place congers memories from old Gatlinburg! Yes. Parts of it are dated. But that’s what… makes it special. The rooms are clean. And the property is very well kept! I feel like I’m letting the cat out of the bag on this one!! Oh well! If you haven’t tried the Sidney James, you should!

Bedbugs!!! We got to our room and checked the beds right away. We always check the beds but this was the first time of actually finding bedbugs- they looked like little black specks all on the box spring, especially in the crease. There was also a blood spot on the sheet/mattress about 2-3" in diameter. We left immediately and demanded our money be refunded, which they did without argument. Definitely don't stop here.
