Services
The hotel's name is a tribute to the buildings' original owner, Joseph Soniat Dufossat. Their fortune built on sugar at Tchoupitoulas Plantation, the Soniat family built three strikingly beautiful townhouses on Chartres Street in the early 19th century. Rodney and Frances acquired the property with a vision of creating the hotel they dreamed of discovering.
Each room and suite feature exceptional designer fabrics, hand-selected fine linens, custom color palettes, and is furnished with French and English antiques and art. Our smaller queen-bedded rooms are ideal for business travelers. Located on the ground floor at the front of the main house, the Superior Singles feature all of our standard amenities in its comfortable 275 square feet.
Plan your romantic stay in New Orleans with our 3-night Romance Package. It includes a car and driver to meet you at the airport and complimentary chilled champagne when you arrive at your Junior Suite. Soniat House's delicious breakfast is included in the price, served either in your room or outdoors on the courtyard.
Our homemade buttermilk biscuits are freshly baked to order. Served warm with Louisiana strawberry preserves, freshly squeezed orange juice, and a pot of cafe au lait. Adjacent to Reception, the bar is for the exclusive use of hotel guests and operates on the honor system. Choose from wine, champagne, mix-it-yourself cocktails, beer or soft drinks, fill out a guest check and the charges will be added to your room.
Soniat House offers everything you need for a business meeting, intimate company retreat, family celebration or low-key gathering of friends. For business clients, the dining/meeting room can host up to 25 people in a theater setting or up to 14 at the conference table. The latest in audio/visual equipment is available, including conference call capability.

One of the nicest hotel’s I’ve stayed at. I still reminisce on the freshly squeezed orange juice I’d drink in the stunning courtyard every morning. They also had phenomenal freshly baked croissants. My stay here was a few years ago, but I await my return. I know that the Soniat House is undergoing renovations right now, but prior each of the rooms were different with their own unique charm. I hope that they maintain this unique splendor. I still remember the fluffy kitty that lurked around the property too she was the cutest.

Thinking today of my fabulous stay at Soniat House this past Feb (the "before times"), and I realize I didn't leave a review. It was perfect! Right between Frenchmen Street and downtown, but super quiet and incredibly calm and lovely. The service was great, my breakfast in the courtyard, letting myself in from the street was such a great experience over walking through a rowdy hotel lobby. So glad I didn't stay at a traditional hotel, but had a much closer experience to the locals. Can't say enough about the Soniat House and am looking forward to my next visit!!

From start to finish our stay here was perfect. Jill was an immense help in helping me figure out what room was right for me and would fit my budget. She was very patient and helpful in helping me plan out the trip. This quaint little home is just far enough that you are in your own little world but close enough that you can walk anywhere in the French Quarter. The staff is impeccable taking care of your every need. The balcony's are beautiful for photos and of course to enjoy a glass of wine. The court yards are also really lovely, breakfast arrives in a timely manner and are the best biscuits

Such a cool boutique. Part of SLH and now the Hyatt umbrella, Soniat House is completely out of left field in terms of outward appearances and actual experience. You walk into what looks like an old townhouse, only to realize that it expands into a cozy little garden surrounded by various hotel rooms. The decor is lovely and the staff super friendly. It really did feel like a quiet oasis in the middle of a bustling city.
Absolutely loved my stay here and would recommend it for someone looking for something a little off the beaten path.

I had a lovely stay at Soniat House two weekends ago. It was short but sweet, and just as I would have expected. From the moment I pulled up, until the moment I drove away, the staff was perfect. Breakfast was delivered to my room (biscuits and coffee), and it was delicious.
In order of importance: Clean, safe, comfortable bed, location was great, quiet, very attentive staff

My wife and I had planned a trip to New Orleans and were excited to stay at the beautiful Soniat Hotel. Could not wait to eat the biscuits they prepare fresh. Unfortunately we had a family issue and had to reschedule. I was able to speak with the general manager who was very courteous and fair and we plan to visit Sonita House as soon as possible.

When I want to go to NOLA there is only one Hotel I want to stay. My husband knows exactly who to call first for reservations & if they are booked up & we can't get any reservations we usually just cancel going. I have stayed many other places in NOLA. I grew up in the area. I know the city well. The city of my childhood. There is no other place in the world like New Orleans & there is no where else I would rather stay when I visit, than the Soniat House. It's always my first choice.
I love several rooms for different reasons. They are all completely different so staying

Incredibly Beautiful Hotel Provides the True NOLA Experience.
We stayed here in 2015 and we are heading back in 2018 for our second experience at this amazing hotel. This hotel is much more than lodging, it is evocative of the place in the most wonderful way. The courtyard, the staff, the welcome, the rooms, represent the best of NOLA. I had seen this place in shelter magazines for years before staying here, so I had the highest of expectations and a bit of trepidation before we arrived, as things that are billed to be so wonderful, often, in reality, cannot match the hype. Happily our sojourn

This adorable courtyard hotel was the perfect setting for our 25th wedding anniversary trip. The property itself is quiet, secluded and private. The staff are flawlessly professional, thoughtful, discreet and unobtrusive. The rooms are sumptuous and classic. The views unforgettable. The biscuits and coffee are divine.

We just wanted to tell you how much we enjoyed our stay at your establishment. We've traveled a lot over the years, and I don't think we've ever been treated with such courtesy and friendship from check in to check out as we have with you. We just love this place! For those who want to feel that they are part of a bygone era (with all of the plush modern conveniences) this is the place for you! From relaxing in the courtyard to the beautifully appointed rooms, this is an absolutely lovely experience. Thanks again for making our trip, once again, completely perfect!

If you want the best of New Orleans, the most romantic spot in the country, European aesthetics in design and approach, this is the Inn for you. Old World in one of the best locales in the French Quarter, this is one of my favorite places to stay (in the world). The staff, in my experience, has always been of the most courteous, considerate and helpful. Highly recommend.

Stay here for the food and to experience the southern continental breakfast. Buttermilk biscuits come hot from the oven, wrapped in a linen napkin and set over a warming stone in a lidded Balinese basket. These steamy treats arrive with fresh orange juice, homemade strawberry preserves, and dark chicory coffee with a pitcher of hot milk for a proper New Orleans café au lait.

Their cancellation policy is absolutely ridiculous -- no changes within 30 days of arrival! We could not make it as it turns out because my girlfriend got sick. They would not allow any change to the reservation, or make any concession whatsoever. No, they charged the entire $800 to my credit card for a 2 night stay! The hotel was not fully booked, so it's not like they turned away anyone in order to hold my room.
I think this is a very greedy and selfish hotel and unless you are the kind of person who never ever needs to change their plans, I would not advise booking here.

I really liked this hotel. It's location was great! We were able to walk everywhere in the French Quarter and to some places in Marigny. The staff was great and our room was extremely large and decorated nicely. The only downside is the noise we experienced because we had a ground floor room. The occupants in the room above us must wore cement shoes because we heard every step they made. If you stay there request a upper floor room.

Love love love this hotel!
Close to the quarter and walking distance of everything else.
I felt the service and the rooms were amazing.
Stayed at the Ritz Carlton in New Orleans on this same trip and much preferred the homey atmosphere at Soniat.
I was upgraded to a suite on the top floor and it was astoundingly gorgeous.
The all marble bathroom is exquisite and the toiletries are very high-end.
I look forward to my next trip to New Orleans and stay at Soniat House.

My boyfriend picked this place for a romantic long getaway weekend. WOW!!! I loved it from the minute I got there...from the keys, to the fact we had to cross the street to get to our suite, to the walk up the votive lined stairs, to the small walkway to our suite...everything! Its was quaint and romantic. An oasis. Beautiful. We were never bothered, but were always welcome to ask questions. The staff helped us make dinner reservations at very nice places with great food and service. In a town that's colorful, loud, lively, fun, and so many other things, it was nice to have a patch
