The purpose of Certification in Low Stress Handling is to provide the teaching content needed to understand and improve the individual or veterinary hospital's ability to create a low stress environment and handle animals in a less stressful manner.
Coursework for this Certification goes beyond the expert teachings of Dr. Sophia Yin and includes improvements to the hospital's design, preparation of and for patients prior to a visit, the use of special tools and sedative agents, and the development of important hands-on skills.

I have a new pup and have taken her there twice so far. They are friendly, knowledgeable, and professional. We've seen Dr. Wheat both times and she's great, and the front desk folks and vet techs are also great. It might seem a small thing, but they sat on the floor with my pup, rather than having her on the table, to examine her and give her an injection so she was more comfortable and not freaked out. That is a big deal to this dog momma. They are customer focused - canine and human.

We love Dr. Wheat so much!!! Best vet we’ve ever had. We’ve been going there for almost five years with our kitty and now our pup. She cares so much about the animals and always does everything she can to make sure they’re as comfortable as possible. She and the vet techs are always patient and make sure to what they can to prevent our animals from feeling stressed. Super knowledgeable and always takes the time to walk us through every option when we’ve dealt with health issues. Our kitty has some chronic health issues that we have had to navigate over the years and Dr. Wheat took the time

This is the absolute best veterinary experience I have ever had, in my decades of dog ownership. Our Vet, Amelia Cox, is exceptional. During our first visit she sat on the floor with me and my dog for 45 minutes, talking through every question, getting to know my dog, acting curious, and offering lots of behavioral or over the counter simple solutions to things, rather than trying to write scripts or sell their own products.
But it's really the front desk staff that has earned my infinite loyalty. They are so kind and helpful over the phone. They are sympathetic, thoughtful, and responsive. The

We had a great experience at carrboro plaza vet clinic. My dogs actually liked to go there! Everyone is very nice, helpful, and knowledgeable. We had to move out of state and find a new vet, but we miss everyone at carrboro plaza vet clinic very much. Thank you for taking great care of Dexter and Jackson.

I've been bringing my cats here for a few years and they are exceptional. They don't just work tirelessly, they do it while listening, helping, and being kind. They make you feel like your animal is the only animal - never rushed or distracted despite almost always being busy. Always available to answer questions, and always friendly. Honestly I don't know how they do it, but my cats and I are so grateful (especially Ollie).

We moved, but still drive to the other side of town to keep bringing our four hairy children to this fabulous vet. They truly care deeply about our animals and their comfort and well-being. They are upfront about pricing and do everything they can to add convenience and value to their services. You can't go wrong with CPVC.

I can not say enough about the Carrboro veterinary plaza. Everyone there is friendly and caring. We were visiting from Michigan last fall just after our cat was diagnosed with a life threatening illness. Dr Steven’s stepped up an made room to see Cole and help me manage his treatment. They took exceptional care of both of us, sent lab reports via email promptly and answered all my questions. We are back and needed to take Cole in for an upper respiratory infection. They got us in the very next day and took very good care of him. I would highly recommend this wonderful practice!

Over the past 20+ years, we have brought 3 cats and 4 dogs here to be seen, treated and cared for. Carrboro Plaza Veterinary Clinic has always, each and every time, provided excellent care for all of our animal family members. The staff and doctors have all treated us with warmth, kindness and compassion when we've brought our animals for routine visits. The same holds true when we've had to let go of a beloved pet.
