The cheapest landlord of all time. Raised our rent during a pandemic. Took away key services like snow removal / shoveling / salting sidewalks. Also makes you pay for the most basic maintenance requests like fixing a closet door that came off it's track. What is my rent money actually going to? He also promised our new neighbors they can have free trash removal, just to get them to sign the lease, then never provided the free trash removal. He actually called us and asked if we could let our neighbors use our trash can for free. Rent keeps going up, and the most basic services are being taken away

They are advisors that have protected my investment, they are sages in their knowledge of the rental market and procedures. They are my 3rd management company experience, and they have been the best! They have also been the only one to make me profit since day one! I have been with them for 4-5 years without a single issue with them. 0 stars. Condescending and rude. Our landlord paired with this company a month ago-we did not choose them. Our sewage system backed up with sewage in the sinks and bathtubs. After the plumbers came our landlord wasn’t responding so we called him several times. The plumbers said they would have to flood the basement with sewage a separate company would come another day to clean it. We were not able to call short south management because it was after hours. John Clark called us once to lecture us on calling our landlord multiple times. It was extremely out of line and patronizing. In no way was

Our landlord decided to begin working with this maintenance/management company at the start of the new year, 5 months into our lease. There was a mistake putting our contact information into their system. We were told it was resolved only to have a plumbing emergency, try to place a maintenance request, and still have no account . During this plumbing emergency, sewage was coming through our shower drain and toilet, we were without water, and we were told that there was no other choice other than to flood the basement with the sewage and then clean it up. I thought long and hard about posting this but felt it became necessary so as to alert others thinking of entering into an agreement with John Clark. In my situation, I saw red flags from the beginning but chose to ignore them as I was in a temporary renting situation while scoping out the area out for a place to buy. John knew from the start that I was shelling out over 26,000 up front to rent a house for a year but his initial walk through the house with me was not done properly. I'm very new to renting with them but so far I'm very happy. The application and rental process was easy, the agent Kaley is very nice, and they've been very attentive about any concerns I had...Kaley even called me on a weekend for something that wasn't really urgent. I think we will be very happy renting from them.
UPDATE: I have just signed my 3rd lease, so I am at the end of my second year, with Short South. My children and I love living here and renting from Short South. They've been great landlords and I have had no issues with maintenance or anything else. They are attentive when needed

Unhappy with John Clark and his handling of a one-week vacation rental. We enjoyed the vacation. But he charges $25 to use a credit card and he makes it hard (if not impossible) to pay using other methods. The portal says the charge is $3. There is a $3 charge but also one for $25. Per payment! I could dispute it with the credit card company but it isn't worth the drama. At least I can warn others.
