Jared was so helpful in helping me find an apartment that met all my needs. I was in a time crunch when looking for my apartment and Jared helped me get my keys within the week and made my leasing process so easy and simple. He didn’t mind answering my abundance of questions and did everything he possibly could do to make everything as smooth as possible. I started looking for an apartment 2 months after school started because commuting was a little difficult for me. When I went for a showing of my apartment Jared was on time and ready to answer all my questions and show me multiple units and giving us a deep overview of the building and all the units. Scheduling my showing was super easy as well, they made time in their schedule to show me the building regardless of how busy Jared was. Even now when I’m having a problem I can just text Jared and he’ll tell me what to do and how to fix my problem. J & J gives amazing service and I highly recommend

Just got an apartment with J@J and it was an extremely smooth process compared to some realty companies I've rented from in the past. This was primarily due to my agent Jared. He had an answer to every question I had about my unit. Volunteered plenty of information before I could even ask. Also if I texted him about any questions or concerns he got back to me quickly with a solution and like I said before just made the whole process very smooth.....top marks! I moved into my apartment almost a year ago and I was very excited. The apartment was nice and because of COVID the rent was not too crazy. I discussed a 12 month lease with whoever showed me the apartment and I signed it. I read through the lease without noticing that the dates did not reflect the 12 months that we discussed. Why would I think that the dates would be anything but those 12 months that we talked about? I recently signed a lease with J&J (Jonah was my agent) and had such a great experience! I saw multiple units, and was able to find the one that was right for me. The application process was quick and easy. Honestly the least stressful apartment search I've had here in Chicago, thus far. I love the tenant portal too!
My only issue was the construction crew that remodeled the kitchen before I moved in didn't do a great job of cleaning up after themselves.
A quick sweep on move-in day, however fixed that right up! So far I have loved being a J&J tenant.

I had an excellent experience as I was in search for my apartment in the Uptown area. I sent a request for a tour and Agent Jonah quickly responded and set up a visit with me the next day. Jonah was very professional and took the time to learn about my needs and showed me various apartments. I was able to select the apartment that I thought was best for me. I've lived at an apartment managed by J and J Equities for almost a year. My agent, Jonah, helped me find a place before I ever stepped foot in Chicago. I let him know what I was looking for and he did a great job in finding me a place that met my request. I've had a good experience with the management team and the apartment staff keeps the place clean each week. We also have an exterminator stop by every few months. Great experience overall!

I have lived in the building since July 1st. J&J Equities is top notch. They are very attentive and friendly. They deal with maintenance issues promptly. The apartment building is very clean and well taken care of. It is within walking distance of the L and many buses. Also walking distance to the beach and grocery stores.

I've been living in j&j equities building for a year almost and enjoying peaceful, clean, friendly atmosphere. Any request for fix or update will be done immediately. During the COVID I got laid off and wrote an email to Michael Birn who is manager asking flexible payment type and he agreed. ultimately I was able to pay my rent and didn't delay , but it was very nice of him. Highly recommended!

1. It's so much fun to read all those great reviews left by bots that don't even live in this building.
2. I've been living in the building, owned by this company, for 1.5 year and it was explicitly THE WORST experience in my entire life.
3. I moved into their building only because I didn't have time to look for other options.
4. Is it summer? Because if it is - you will be enjoying 90-100 degrees inside your apartment. You will be waking up at nights, drowning in sweat, because no units in the building have Air Conditioning

Mike Birn is really the best building manager. I've been at one of his buildings for about 2 years and I've had no issues. With all of this covid19, I've been out checking on older loved ones and I asked Mike if he could check on my place. He not only walked through, he sent photos to put my mind at ease. Above and beyond. Also, all of my maintenance requests are completed in timely manner. I feel safe and secure in the building and he and his team keep the premises clean.

I have rented from J & J Equities for 6 years and they are THE BEST !!! I call our maintenance man the "Jimmy Johns" of maintenance. In six years I've only needed him twice but both times he was there within a few minutes. The common areas are spotless and well maintained. The other tenants are friendly and respectful. The management believes in preventive measures to handle any issues with the building.

We are within our first year at J & J Equities and we have really enjoyed living here! Staff is very friendly and maintenance is top notch. Anytime we had a maintenance request, they came and addressed the issues right away, usually within a couple of hours. I would definitely recommend checking out their apartments if you are looking to move!

My husband and I have lived in our apartment for several years.
This is the apartment we brought our baby home to. J&J have not been typical. They care for you as a tenant. Especially our building manager, Fry Prero.
Whenever we had issues they were very prompt to fix them and didn't give up until the issue was gone. The people that work for J&J are kind people.
We would definitely recommend renting from them and would rent from them again.

When I first moved to Chicago in the fall of 2018, I looked at a bunch of properties but when I walked into my current apartment, I knew it was home. It had almost everything I wanted - a decent size kitchen and a huge closet - in a studio. As a female, closet space is my biggest concern when apartment shooting and and this place blew it out of the water. Location was also a big factor, being without a car, I love being so close to several bus lines + the red line. Also being 3-4 blocks from the beach is heaven in the summer! The building on Beacon St. has very poor plumbing. The water in the entire building is shut off all of the time, sometimes for several days at a time. When the water is working there is no consistent temperature. Taking a 10 minute shower requires adjusting the knobs every few minutes to avoid being scalded or frozen.
Also, there is no serviceable laundry room even though it is advertised as a building with a laundry room. There is a small basement room off the back of the building that is only accessible by walking around the building, down the alley, and through two gates. There are only 2 machines

--Entered my unit 2x without notice
--Kitchen temps of 57 degrees for 2 weeks
--Not opened windows or blinds in 1st floor unit because of passers by
--No bathroom heat for nearly 2 months (still waiting)
--Universal keys to unlock all vestibules ...ZERO privacy or safety
--3 police appearances for immediate neighbors
--Employees using all possible washing machines on weekends, leaving none for tenants
--Soaked carpet after FAILED ceiling drywall repair
--Property Manager put 10 days of ~40 units' recycle in landfill container because 'trash company

There was vandalism done to my apartment door by a fellow tenant, who I had shared concerns about prior to the day when my apartment door was vandalized. I even called the police as the tenant was yelling and broke other furniture in the hallway.
When informing my building manager and sharing a photo that same day, I did not receive a response that showed concern for my safety. Lived in a J&J Equities building at 6930 N Greenview in Rogers Park for a full year. My lease started off shaky, as I got my keys around 10am in the morning the day my lease started but my unit wasn't finished being renovated when I brought my first load of stuff. Thankfully the maintanence team worked fast so that it was finished by the end of the day.
Overall, I didn't have many problems with my apartment or J&J. The building itself is quite old and some problems are to be expected. The water had to be shut off for the day about 6-7 times during my year tho due to maintanence
