Services
In 2005, now husband and wife team, Jamie and Marie Brawn, started their business. After many years in the restaurant and hospitality industry, the two Del Mar, CA bartenders, found what they were looking for- each other, a bottle of wine, a home cooked meal and the joy of sharing it with others. Serving delicious food and creating memorable events has been their passion ever since.
It gives us such pride and joy to help make a couple's "special day" that much more unforgettable. We personally know how life changing your wedding day is, and we want to compliment your big day with a menu filled with as much love and passion as you have for each other. The menu is a huge part of the wedding experience for both you and your guests so we aim very high to achieve both your vision and desires.

The best catering company i could have ever hired. We had a dinner party for about 35 people. The food was delicious, the service was amazing and Marie was a delight to work with. They even stayed later than the time I spoke with them about and they didn't even think twice about it. We will def. be using them in the future.

My wife and I decided before planning our wedding that the food had to be amazing so we met with a variety of different, well known vendors to meet this requirement. Out of everyone, there wasn't a doubt in our mind that Root Cellar was a cut above the rest. From the initial tasting to the day of the event, the food was consistently delicious and they were able to easily accommodate the dietary restrictions of some of our guests. The best wedding food I've ever had! Marie is so creative, she came up with the idea of "dueling" stations for my wedding since I am from California and my fiancé is from Chicago. We had carnitas, avocado toast, deep dish pizza and Italian beef. My mind was blown! Not to mention the beautiful appetizers and the amazing service! Thank you so much Root Cellar

We hired the Root Cellar for a birthday party at the Skybox and they were professional and courteous. All of our guests raved about the food! They were able to utilize the onsite kitchen and bar for prep, constantly serving new dishes and replenishing the food stations. Would highly recommend this company for your catering needs!

There are a ton of catering options out there. I'll be honest, I picked Root Cellar because their prices were reasonable for a plated dinner, but more so because they were actually RESPONSIVE to emails, unlike so many caterers you will deal with. With that being said, the food for Root Cellar was outstanding. We don't live in San Diego, so we took the word of our wedding planner that the food was actually good, as we never were able to do a tasting prior. Root Cellar was great about making some customized appetizers, which our guests still rave about to this day. They blew away my expectations

Fantastic!! We hired Root Cellar for our wedding and they were superb. Their prices are very reasonable. The food was delicious and fresh and the team, especially Jessica, was amazing to work with! She was extremely responsive and willing to shift things around when we had a few last minute cancellations, additions, and meal changes. The service at the wedding was excellent. We look forward to hiring them again for our future catering needs!

Jamie, Marie and the entire Root Cellar team are AMAZING. We went up to their farm and greenhouse in Encinitas, to taste a menu that we selected for our wedding at the Darlington House, this September. It set the tone and surpassed my expectations (the bacon wrapped peaches are a must!). On our big day, everything from tray passed hors d'oeuvres, to the taco bar, to the churro cupcakes were fantastic. They're organized, professional and everything that you want in a caterer - that you can trust for your big day!

I used Root Cellar Catering for our wedding on July 7. I could not have asked for a better company to work with! When I first inquired they were extremely responsive. We were able to book a tasting right away to get things started. They were the second tasting that we had done and I knew I didn't need to go to anymore after trying their food and meeting them. I emailed Root Cellar about two weeks ago and got a call from Marie almost immediately after I submitted my inquiry but I wasn't able to answer because I was heading into a work meeting. I had my fiance call them back but it went straight to voicemail so he left one but never received a call back.
I did receive a follow up email from Marie within the hour and responded to her questions and have yet to hear from her. Because I know technology can fail us, I made two attempts to follow up and connect again but still no response. We were really hoping to book these guys for the fantastic food

Let's talk about how magical Root Cellar Catering is and the party wizard/mastermind that is Marie Brawn.
I was given the task of planning and putting on a corporate holiday event for approximately 350 people, with just about a month to prepare.
Marie formulated a theme, based on my request to have s'mores, and her Camp G was such a hit that I'm still getting compliments on 2 months later.
Not only was the theme perfect and expertly executes, but with a million other items for me to coordinate at work, Marie was able to take the reigns completely with setup and coordination

Outstanding service from start to finish. They catered our holiday party in January and made the whole experience effortless. The food was delicious!!!! The staff worked seamlessly throughout the day into the evening making sure everything was perfect. Hands down the best experience. Highly recommend Root Cellar Catering!

We used root cellar for our New Year's Eve party for food/ bar/ and a referral for glassware rentals. The food was incredible- everything looked fresh, was unique from the standard catering service, and tasted delicious. The presentation in the bamboo trays was beautiful. My guests raved about the food! The bar services far exceeded my expectations- Anthony was a true mixologist! Great job Root Cellar!

Food- Delicious! Marie came up with the initial menu after talking to me and we tweaked it from there. I hardly had to do anything.
Waitstaff/Service- Super friendly and helpful. They showed up and set everything up and it looked beautiful.
Overall- I had no idea what i was doing for my wedding and Marie walked through the whole day with me giving me pointers and ideas. She also recommended a bartending service and knows multiple photographers.
Budget- She asks you your budget up front so they can work with

I had the pleasure of enjoying their delicious food at one of our goods friends weddings! So tasty! Everything we had was absolutely delicious. My husband especially loved their Mac n cheese bites. All the appetizers and our entrees were wonderful.

I had the chance of trying them out while they were at Ballast Point recently. It was taco Tuesday and they had a special collab menu with BP that day. Very creative!
FOOD:
-Bubba Taco - Habanero Sculpin cooked with grass-fed chorizo. It was okay but I think lacked flavor and spice. The meat was quite dry.
-"Pale ale banh mi pork belly" - soft taco with pork belly in pale ale with vinagered carrots. Intended to simulate the taste of the infamous Vietnamese banh mi. My favorite out of the two tacos I tried!
-Tacos were $9 for 2...came with tortilla chips and pickles. A little
