When George Jewell founded George L. Jewell Catering Services (now Jewell Events Catering) in l967, he had already honed his exuberant and innovative style through years of experience in traditional dining service. He was schooled in hotel management at Acton University and Oxford, in his native England.

Alejandro the manger is very condescending, scatter brained, stressed, impatient and doesn’t know how to communicate with people. He actually made a coworker cry today after he cursed her in his native tongue. He is all over the place and everyone mind doesn’t work like that. I tried to deal with him best I could until I couldn’t. He gives the company a bad name and his energy is waay off.

I worked with Jennifer on a luncheon for my Aunt following her Memorail Service. I lived out of town and trying to put that luncheon on by myself would have been a nightmare. Jennifer made the entire event a wonderful time. I appreciated her input, always great, the meal was perfect and the wait staff terrific. Thank you, Jennifer, you were awesome!

We couldn’t have had a better experience working with Jewell. Kristin was extremely helpful throughout the planning process and the food turned out amazing! It tasted just like what we had at the tasting and our guests loved it. They were also very flexible with any special requests and really catered to our specific needs. They are a great company to work with and I would highly recommend!!

I don't think there are enough words to say how wonderful working with Jewell was for our wedding. Jessica Self worked with us all throughout the Covid uncertainty making suggestions, adjustments, and accommodations for all of the changing needs we had. The planning process was so easy and we could tell we were in good hands. And when Myles Bosack had to step in for our day of service, he executed every detail without missing a beat. The staff on site were incredible and we got endless compliments from everyone about how good the food was. We enjoyed it more than our tasting day!

While our wedding didn’t work out due to Covid, Jewell was still very professional to work with and did their best to work with us during the changing year. They refunded us a fair amount after our venue cancelled on us and despite the hard times, Kristin was amazing to work with and very responsive and professional.

We recently had to cancel our March wedding due to COVID-19 issues and are disappointed with the shady business practices this vendor is pushing on us. They're trying to shortpay us 50% of our deposit ($5,000 deposit) for administrative expenses. I can understand billing us for the food at tasting, but they're billing us for writing emails and talking on the phone for 11 hours (I can assure you neither my fiancée or I spent this amount of time on the phone with them). We had Jewell cater our Bridgeport Art Center wedding and absolutely loved them. We had the pleasure of working with Kristin who seriously went above and beyond for us in her planning and execution.
Excellent food and service were my two of my father-in-law's biggest desires for the wedding reception and we were so thrilled with both of those things from Jewell. So many of our guests raved about the food and service throughout the evening and we are still getting compliments! Can't recommend them enough.

Jewell Catering was absolutely fantastic!! I cannot say enough good things about them!! We worked specifically with Dana, and she was incredible! She did way more than we were expecting from a catering company! Every meeting with Dana was pleasant and organized. The food was incredibly good from the first tasting to the cake tasting to the day of our wedding. Our guests loved the food and desserts! Dana really stole the show by basically being our day of coordinator. She saw that everything went smoothly and directed us on next steps throughout the evening. We worked with Jenna from Jewell Events Catering for our wedding. She was fantastic! Super sweet, very accommodating, and overall a great partner to have as we went through the catering process. Jenna was able to get us everything we wanted, even when the requests were a little out there. The bartenders were amazing, too! We had margaritas during cocktail hour and everyone loved them. Jenna also took excellent care of us that night and made sure we had everything we needed. Jewell is a great choice for catering!

Jewell catered our wedding at the Cheney Mansion in Oak Park in June 2018, and they were absolutely perfect! The food and drinks were delicious and the service was incredible, both day-of and during the year-long planning. Dana was consistently so thoughtful and responsive and really went the extra mile in taking care of every detail and special request. We actually used Jewell To Go to cater our welcome reception and then the Jewell wedding division as our wedding caterers, and they were stellar on both fronts! For the catering for our welcome reception, they were so helpful in letting us know how much food they thought we'd need for our guest count and they were spot on! On the day of, they were right on time with delivery, very professional in helping to set up the food, and the food was met with great reviews, especially the red velvet sheet cake!

The company I work for used Jewell Catering for an event that we hosted in our office. To be honest, I was completely blown away by the efficiency and professionalism that every member of the staff seemed to have! They were extremely early and well prepared, incredibly friendly, and did a phenomenal job at making our event a success. I'd like to shout out Katherine, Angela, Eric, Mike (naw'leans!), and the rest of the team for everything they did. At the end of the night, they even pulled out a mop for our kitchen. We were so impressed with Jewell Events as our caterer for our wedding at Harold Washington Library. They were so organized, easy to work with, full of suggestions, and best of all had delicious food! They partnered with us like a wedding coordinator on certain aspects of our wedding, which was not expected at all. Jewell Catering helped us with our wedding on 7/15/17. Jenna and Melanie were great to work with and were onsite for our event to ensure our evening was perfect!
Our venue, the Rookery, was an amazing place to host our 150 guests. The food, servers, alcohol was top notch. The food for our tasting was identical to the ones served to our guests- food was warm, tasty, and presentation was spot on!
Guests are still talking about our event a week later! We highly recommend Jewell Catering!

Katherine did a wonderful job of listening to our suggestions, helping us determine our food preferences and choices, and providing quality food for the night of our wedding! We had so many compliments from guests that it was the best food they have ever had at the wedding. We enjoyed five passed appetizers, dinner course, cake, and late night bites. It was all delicious. We just had our wedding this past weekend and LOVED working with Dana and the team at Jewell. Total professionals and such a pleasure to work with. Dana is a rockstar and made me feel completely comfortable throughout the wedding process. We said $3000 is the budget. They gave us a proposal for $9000. We repeated that the budget is $3000. They gave us a proposal for $8500. We said goodbye. They gave us a proposal for $7600.
Although they were kind via email, our experience with this company is that they are trying to gouge their customers for the most money possible. I am not interested in feeling like I'm a corporate negotiator when I am planning my wedding.
I do not recommend this company. Take your money to another caterer that listens to and partners with your vision.

Kristin Kramer & Stephanie G. were absolutely amazing to work with for our wedding day. My husband and I live & work on the Near West Side were initially overwhelmed with all of the catering options just in our neighborhood! Jewell was the only catering group that was able to meet both our budget and food expectations. From our tasting experience until the last box was walked out, the catering team was absolutely incredible.
