I came in to apply to rent a home, my given right to be told that I cannot even apply. The reason is personal but I wasn't even given the opportunity to try. I will definitely be following up with HUD on this! I'm sure the front desk woman will live to regret her rude and demeaning behavior to me that day...

As we were going over the application I was told me and my girlfriend didn't qualify. That was fine, but then they didn't give me back our applications with all of our personal information. Name, birthday, ssn, address, job, income, etc. If we don't qualify because of no previous rental history why keep our applications. If you plan on going with them make sure you keep your application in hand.

Worst. Landlord. In. Fort. Wayne.
My stairs collapsed and I was charged a 50$ service emergency fee for the repair even though it was their own responsibility to fix. They ran over my lawn ornaments with a lawnmower and when I complained about it evicted me. They said it wasn't their responsibility to warn tenants of mowing or to mow around tenants property. These people literally think that they can just abuse you once you're signed into a contract with them.

I live in Indianapolis. I called at least 5 times over the course of 5 weeks and never received a call back. I drove 2 hours to visit some houses in the area. Stopped by their office first. I am a physician graduating in 1 week with a letter of appointment to a Fort Wayne medical group, verifiable salary, and 10+ years of positive leasing history with one management company. I walked in, shared my story, and they said they require 3 months of employment despite the fact I had been working in hospitals and clinics for the previous 2 years. They did not once ask questions to clarify their understanding

The girl at the front desk is not a nice human. But that didn’t really bother me. Long weekend (just off Memorial Day) and maybe she was behind and stressed. It happens and she works customer service. We all have bad days so I brushed that aside.
They had 2 houses we could’ve rented. Between my GF and I (literally fresh out of college) we are making about $75k between the 2 of us.
(They didn’t consider my GFs income since she hasn’t been there 3 months. Again out of college a month at this point. But that’s fine because I’m making 4Xs the amount of rent)

I've been with Kauffman almost 7 years. I've never had any issues with them at all. The maintenance guys have always been friendly and do the job you request to be done. The ladies in the office have never been anything but friendly and understanding. They have the best prices for a tight budget. Most of their homes and apartments are out south, in the Broadway area, downtown area and in older homes. They do have some apartments and homes more north but they are few and far between and tend to be a little more costly. Over all I give them a 5 star rating because of their friendly staff and maintenance

When we first started looking for a rental property over 3 years ago Kaufman was the first to pop up. We went in got a paper with all their rentals. We went to maybe the second house and LOVED it. They did a great job getting the house move in ready for us. We lived there for 3 years and it was the best 3 years! They were quick to respond if we need something with maintenance. They have great communication and understanding! I would 100% rent with them again and would recommend them to anyone looking to rent. Alyssa was our main go to person in the office, and is great. They do not allow property owners to rent homes from them per my conversation today 12:35pm. Example: I own my home outright and have a renter slated to move into my home. I am relocating with my federal job and am also a disabled veteran. I was told today that they only rent to people that are current renters and do not own property in their name(even if I can show proof of positive rental history within the past 5 years). I was told they do not accept firm offer letters for job transfers as income either and then was also told my disabled veteran income which I have received for several years
