I just recently moved to Columbus for work and prior to moving, I applied for an apartment. They then emailed me my first day here and told me the apartment I applied for wasn’t available and was being leased to someone else. Mind you, I smoke with someone days before letting them know I was applying to that apartment
Fast forward and I pick another apartment that stated it would be ready on September 10th. September 10th comes around and they email me telling me the apartment wouldn’t be ready until the 22nd. This company has left me in a terrible

We recently moved out of our Lykens property in Victorian Village that we lived in for three years. Our reason for moving wasn't related to the unit itself, I got a new job in a different state, otherwise I would have expected us to live in the place for a few more years and eventually buy a house down the road. We never had a rent increase, despite being in a popular neighborhood during a booming period in the Columbus economy. An issue with noisy and uncooperative neighbors during the beginning on the pandemic was met with quickly and didn't become an issue again.

They are a generally good company to work with! Maintenance can be a little slow keeping you in the loop on less urgent fixes, but they fix emergencies promptly.
I had an issue with a city of columbus worker who changed our water meter and Lykens was helpful getting me their information so that I could contact the city about a problem we had had.

I've been a tenant for 13 months. Repeatedly charges more for water bills than what is on the billing statements. I've called several times requesting that they resolve the issue. I'm always directed to the lowest person on the totem pole and have never spoken with a manager other than once through email, which was unhelpful. Maintenance also will not address our A/C complaints and explain why we are paying $125 summer electric bills and $35 winter bills (we have been using ceiling fans to attempt to reduce costs). I have lived in my current unit for two years. A couple months ago, my private landlords decided they were going to sell the unit so I've only been with Lykens for a couple weeks now. So far they've been pretty helpful and responsive though. At least their leasing/management team is. I submitted a maintenance request over two weeks ago and still haven't heard anything.

Don't do it. Management can be outright disrespectful. I tend to evaluate a business on how they respond to issues and mistakes... because everyone makes them. This company is NO EXCEPTION and takes zero accountability for their MANY shortcomings, often blaming paying tenants for most of the business's issues. They do not take care of their properties, lie to their customers and continually threaten them with additional charges and fees. You will regret renting with Lykens.

From the looks of it your other clean company didn't know about it either. Plus, it was dirty when I moved my daughter on in early 2020. Leaves litter ect... you, as a manager Logan, should walk the property more. Not just to your car and to the office. Maybe don't make excuses, make it better! Oh, and the fire pull and exit signs need taken care of, is that your maintenance or you who handled that??

As a current and VERY unsatisfied resident with this leasing company, I feel it's only right that I share a little insight into my experience being a tenant with Lykens Companies. Please ensure that you read ALL reviews when considering leasing with this group. We urge you to run the other way and DO NOT rent with Lykens. I have attached a photo of my vehicle that was vandalized in the very parking lot in which I pay a monthly fee to Lykens. All four tires were stolen, my frame bent, and several scratches on the body of the vehicle. I sought support from Lykens Management with footage to assist

Please do NOT ignore these reviews. Lykens is awful. No accountability. I’ve been informed by other tenants about multiple instances where their cars have been broken into. (AND we pay for, what is supposed to be, safe parking, here.) A tenant had all four of his tires stolen off of his car and Lykens claimed to not have the footage. Although, they have camera signs all over the building, creating an illusion of security. They will not assist you in anything! You will have to show up at the Lykens office physically, to get a response from anyone. The managers are breathy and hostile. Please read

Been renting for about 2 weeks now. We have had hot water for only 2 days. I will amend this review if they ever properly fix our hot water so that we can actually live comfortably. If you like hot water, avoid Lykens company!!

Throughout the entire time, however, we never heard from who is supposed to be the manager of repairs and service

I have been renting with Lykens or about 1 1/2 years and do not recommend. While the maintenance guys who have been out to the house are very nice and helpful, getting in touch with the office to get someone here has been terrible.

This is the worst run company I've ever encountered. The house was dirty when I moved in, multiple problems with things in the house that myself and my roommates had to fix ourselves because they wouldn't respond to our maintenance requests. Had a problem with the electrical outlets and asked for their electrician to come out, sent us a landscaping guy who told me he had no idea what was going on and to wait for the electrician. Water was supposed to be included but 4 months in they sent me a water bill. Forget about getting in touch with these guys, had to chase them down for a week

Please, please do not give Lykens your business. Do not let their fancy facade and initially-friendly employees fool you. This company is an absolute sham that takes advantage of tenants. Their small handful of employees are nearly impossible to get ahold of, and they can't even begin to take care of their many many tenants. Yet they focus on their blog and continue to build fancy new apartments.

Update: 7/7/19. I left a review below from very early on in our leasing experience. After over 1 year of renting with Lykens I can say that nearly everything has been excellent. Our maintenance requests have still been responded to immediately and we have never had any trouble in our leasing experience. Because their properties are independently owned and all requests are filtered up through their home-owners, your price point and amenities might be a bit inconsistent based on where you live. This company is AWFUL. Maintenance is lazy and inattentive, they will likely cause more damage while attempting to fix something. Rodent issues will go unnoticed as maintenance will tell you that it is not an emergency issue and then will take actual WEEKS to address the issue. The water in my building was shut off basically once a week minimum for pretty much the entire day with zero to no notice given. Leasing staff are incompetent. Trenae has no idea how to do her job and you basically have to threaten her with legal action to get a reply from her. They WILL enter your unit without any notice

The wonder bread lifts are spectacular. I stayed here for just a night at a friend's and I was totally blown away by the beauty of the place. The size also was quite shocking as I had no clue just how big it was until walking around. The design was spot on and all the appliances were new. Doing laundry here was a breeze as there were washers and dryers in the apartment. I'd HIGHLY recommend this place to others.

This is the worst rental company I have ever used. The two times I have had issues, and requested a call back from the company they ignored my calls and emails. I was yelled at by the leasing manager, Tranea. We had to take over a previous leasers contract (only a month) and the situation was horrible. She called and accused me of refusing to pay the deposit and threatened to evict me, when all she had to do was request the deposit. Yes, it was a strange situation, but yelling at your tenants is just not how you treat people. I tried to file a complaint about Tranea to the owner, and he refused

First of all if I could give Lykens zero stars I would. We were lied to by management multiple times. Management has continued to feed us lies so that we stop bothering them. For example we are renting in victorian village and have a small private parking lot that they charge $50.00 per car every month. On any given day there are people parked there that shouldn't be and what we were advised to do was call towing and report the non-residents. As time goes on the truth comes out that we can't actually get anyone towed out of the spots we are paying for because they can't give out
