First room door was broken. Front desk guy came right away to help and couldn’t get in either so he upgraded us to a different room. The insides of the rooms do look better than you’d expect from the looks of the outside, or so we thought. The cigarette burn on the bed throw thing didn’t bother us, and neither did the missing remote batteries, but on night two we discovered what appeared to be vomit on the brown bed skirt thing. We ended up leaving and I’m hoping to speak to a manager tomorrow.

I am adding the review while I am still here. Can't sleep cause of noises . One thing is good that room is clean. Other than that don't get a room downstairs or make sure no one is on the top floor because its so loud when they walk. Walls are so thin you can hear everything that you don't need to hear, toilet hardly had any pressure and the heater made all kind of knocking noises to keep you up too.

Ok, so a fewww things went wrong here:
- We initially got assigned to the wrong room, causing us to walk in on a couple
-I asked if someone could show me how to use the fireplace, and the manager said they would - but didn't follow through; I did ask someone again the next day and they showed me
-Second night we stayed, it was freezing, and suddenly our keys didn't work - had to walk out to the lobby to get them replaced
Honestly, a few small mishaps happened during the trip, but they were handled well by the staff. If they hadn't happened, though, our stay would have been much better

For the price and location this place is a deal. They pay attention to details. The furniture matches and in good shape. The bed has triple sheeting and nice comforter and pillows. The bed was to firm for my taste. There is a microwave, small fridge and a coffee pot. Not a lot of restaurant so I suggest bring some food.

Ghetto hotel i wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. Staff could have handled our situation better, but didn't. We had to hear domestic violence all night in the room next to us. They were physically fighting n cursing it was a total nightmare. This went on since we checked in until 4 am the next day. We asked for our to be changed n the staff did nothing. We felt unsafe at this hotel this was supposed to be a special trip for my wife's birthday , but ended up being a total disaster .

My back is killing me! Hard mattress with a dip where everyone sits on the edge making you feel like your going to fall off all night. Worst night ever! The TV only got one channel and kept trying to reset itself. As for the hot tub it did have bubbles 🙄such a joke. Parking was in an alley, the stairs were dirty going to your room. Went I went to check out there was no one there! Don’t stay here!!!

Me and my girlfriend stayed for 7 days we had to leave two days early due to bed bugs we were laying in bed until my girlfriend felt something crawling on her we looked at what it was and we noticed what it was and then we picked up the mattress to find a bigger one dead we called the front yesterday and was told we would get a call back after they checked the room well they supposedly looked and said there’s no bugs even tho we took videos and pictures of it either they didn’t look or just calling us liars the coffee machines are nasty there was a lot of dust and hair where you put the water

I've stayed at this motel twice for a total of 3 nights. I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed my stay here. Everything appeared clean to me and I didn't notice any problems with the rooms. I can't say anything about the bedding, as I sleep in a sleeping bag regardless of where I'm staying on the road, but I encountered no problems here. Staff was friendly. It's right across the street from the beach, within a 5 minute walk at most. I will be returning here when I come back to the area.

STAY AWAY! I was deceived by the uploaded pictures and the “smoke free” room signs. As soon as I got to the room it reeked like cigarettes. It was awful and musty too. I was scared to sit on the bed because of what I could find underneath. I went to the front desk and asked for a refund but they legally scammed me and they were right “no refunds”. I got another room and it was just as musty, Jose said he could do nothing about the smell and that people don’t listen. I rarely leave yelp reviews, but the entirety of my experience at Silver Surf Motel was terrible. I would leave negative stars if possible.
At first sight into our room 111 we were greeted by BED BUGS. Not only is this a safety violation, it's grounds to get the motel shut down for health reasons!
After attempting to contact Silver Surf Motel regarding the bed bugs, I was given the run around that a manager wasn't available and nothing could be done about my room. I left my phone number and advised the manager call me as soon as he can. 1 full day passed and no response. I called back

Stayed here about a month ago (just finished trip). Easy to find on the main road, convenient location for Hearst Castle (when it's open) and seal beach, indoor pool and jacuzzi, big grassy courtyard with furniture on the lawn, balcony with furniture. No breakfast- discount voucher for restaurant next door. All of it was pretty dated and no AC, kind of musty and dark, no elevator for second floor. Very expensive for what we got, especially in comparison to other budget hotels we stayed in on this trip.

A. They were the cheapest room with ocean view
B. Had a room last minute on a busy Saturday
C. Great location to beach & restaurants
D. Comfortable bed, large room
E. Extremely quiet in the morning
F. Indoor pool / spa
G. Free parking
H. Huge court yard & large upstairs patio
The only thing i would recommend would be to power wash the stairs, deck, windows & patio they were all grimy

Buyer beware!!! Someone was trying to break into the room my wife and I stayed in. Had we not used the chain lock at the top of the door, the intruder would have succeeded. We called the front desk immediately and no one answered, we tried a few more times and still no one picked up the phone. When I addressed this in the morning with the front desk, all the employee said was he didn't see anything in the cameras during the estimated time of the incident. It happened between 230am and 3am.

Interesting place to stay. Stayed here one night. Overall, I liked the property and location, but there are so many cons. For one, the walls are paper thin & our front door was hard to close. There were lots of kids running up and down the hotel railing on the top floor during the day and that was super loud. Then there's the bed. It's the worst to try and explore/hike etc when you didn't get a good nights sleep. Feels like sleeping on a trampoline. I didn't feel the hotel was dirty, it actually seemed a bit updated. A few tweaks could really help this spot out!

Not a bad priced motel, with a decent bathroom and bed, but you can hear pretty much everything outside the room, including the huge biker gang outside playing their music out in the middle yard area till 1130PM.. you can probably say that my toddler didn't sleep till after midnight when they finally stopped, with all the talking, laughing they were doing. Fine they had a good time and all but I wish the workers could tell them to cut it by at least 10PM! I'm not exactly thrilled about this stay... Had a better stay over at Sands and Surf motel across the street with more accommodations

I am here now and I am absolutely disgusted. We got this room last minute. We came to the coast in a whim and this was one of the only rooms in the area left under $400 a night. I think $162 for 2 nights. Anyway I took an hour when I got here wiping what I could down with alcohol and antibacterial wipes. This place should fire their housekeepers. No where in this room has been cleaned. Not vacuumed, not dusted, not even wiped with a damp cloth!! I think I would be more comfortable sleeping outside then in here. I AM NOT exaggerating. With Covid most places are extra clean right now. Not this place

I would never recommend this hotel to anyone. The hotel's customer service is beyond poor, they do not address any issues made my guest, the beds are uncomfortable as ever, the shower was dirty, and most off all the paper thin walls and oh yeah they dont put new rolls of toiler paper in your rooms..

San Simeon has become my Covid getaway. It's the gateway to lower Big Sur, just a few minutes to cutesy Cambria, and has its own pleasant beach bluff walk and view out over the beach and bay. I've now happily stayed 3 times at the Silver Surf. The room is clean, freshly painted, and comes with a fridge and microwave. The staff is friendly and helpful. Upstairs, you even have a peek-a-boo view of the sea. You can hear the waves at night. The room was not large, but served me well. There is also a sundeck where you can watch the sunset. All rooms open to a huge grassy courtyard with

VALUE, VALUE, VALUE. We booked a last minute room here for $60 on a Sunday early evening. For that value rate, we were pleased. We only needed a room to sleep for we were on our way for a glamping trip in Big Sur from LA.
Room had been redone with new carpet, bedding, shower. Big refrigerator in room and microwave. Great, for we had food supplies to chill. The room fridge even had a freezer section so we could chill our ice packs.
There was a little trash outside our door but inside room was clean and decent. Trash was cleared away by staff by early morning. Room and linens overall were fine

It's pitch dark driving from San Luis Obispo to San Simeon, the last hour felt like forever...
It's an old motel, well maintained but dated, lobby seem cozy with fireplace. Upon checking in, the front desk told me I can park by lobby since I already did, and walk across the lawn to the room, I was like no! I like to park my car closer!
Parking space seem tight for a middle of nowhere, when it's full booked, I think some would have

9.19.18 Place was good enough to lay our heads for a night during our road trip down the 1, considering we had booked thru Hotels.com earlier that day. Located across the street from the oceanfront hotels & restaurants, so it was close enough for us to still hear the waves crashing off in the distance at night. Room was mostly clean, besides the long black hair on the bed cover & one in a hand towel. Nothing special here. They did have an indoor pool & spa that looked like to be a good size & closed at 10p, but we didn't try it ourselves.
