DIAGNOSTIC AND THERAPEUTIC SERVICES - Our veterinarians have more than a combined 50 years of experience in diagnosing and treating a variety of medical conditions. We cover all areas of medicine including cardiology, ophthalmology, neurology, dermatology, gastroenterology and endocrinology.
ANESTHESIA - Prior to anesthesia, your pet will have a general physical examination and pre-op blood tests to determine his/her fitness for surgery or dentistry.Based on the pre-anesthetic workup, our veterinarians will then implement an anesthetic protocol using the safest and most current medications.

Many people have questions about various aspects of their pet's surgery, and we hope this information will help. It also explains the decisions you will need to make before your pet's upcoming surgery. Today's modern anesthetic monitors have made surgery much safer than in the past. Here at Sova Animal Hospital, we do a thorough physical exam on your pet before administering anesthetics, to ensure that a fever or other illness won't be a problem.
Here are some questions that we are frequently asked. If you have additional questions that aren't covered here, please feel free to give us a call at (973)838-5528. Our hospital is open Mondays and Wednesday from 7:30 am to 7:00 pm and Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays from 7:30 am to 5:00 pm. On Saturdays we are open from 7:30 am to 1:00 pm.

I can't think of anything to make the experience better! It was a great experience and everyone we dealt with was kind and helpful!!! The staff and doctor were very knowledgeable and kind to our kitty!! We have definitely found our vet and will continue to use Sova in the future.

I have an 8 year old Rottweiler, he had his knees done 7 years ago and now he’s limping. Thank god for Sova they found out that he has lime disease and we were never informed by our last vet. They were so good with Chief. They love your animal as if it’s there own.

I recently began bringing my dog Frankie to Dr. A at Sova Animal Hospital about 2-3 months ago. They were extremely accommodating as far as scheduling him to be seen in a timely manner. Everyone there from the technicians, to the front desk staff are amazing and just a joy to deal with. At our most recent visit, we were helped specifically by two ladies at the front desk, Jessica & Cait. It was a busy Saturday, but they never make you feel that way when they're helping you. Jessica gave me her undivided attention and answered a few questions I had about some of the products they had in the waiting

I have been going to Sova Animal Hospital for 15 plus years with 3 different dogs. Was always able to get appointment if the dog was sick UNTIL now. Sova sold practice and Staff is all new and not very helpful. Was just in this week and spent $300. dollars and now my dog is sick and try to get appointment and was told no appointment today call tomorrow to see if they have anything available. Don't think so. You just lost a good customer and pretty soon more will leave if this is how you treat your patience.

I have been using Sova Animal Hospital for years. They are always professional. Dr. Sova has always been caring and attentive with all of our pets. Recently we meet Dr.A. for the first time. He was wonderful with Oakley. Sat on the floor with him, as Oakley doesn’t like getting up on the table. I would recommend the office to everyone.

We recently started taking our dogs to Dr. Ammeraal when our regular vet was out of the office for an extended period of time and we had some things that couldn’t wait. We were so happy with the experience that we have started the process of switching some Of our pets over to his practice. He’s kind, honest, fairly priced, and very knowledgeable. Working with Dr Ammeraal and his staff has been an absolute pleasure. I am navigating ownership of a puppy of a breed I’ve never owned before and it’s a new experience. “Dr A” has been there to advise her… needs and expectations. The staff has been fantastic and friendly. Excellent customer service and never a wait. I can’t say enough wonderful things about the practice and Dr Ammeraal’s presence at Sova Animal Hospital. We have known Dr A for over 12 yrs, he is the utmost professional and kindest vet you will ever meet. When I moved to the Morris area he saved my cats life after a misdiagnosis from another Dr in Hoboken. He… had fans for life, his "bedside" manner for the family as well as the pets are top notch! When we become pet parents we gain an incredible, loving friend who enriches our lives. Our hope is that we can love and care for that pet as long as possible. Dr. Sova and Mrs. Sova are the kind of people that you go back to because they took care of your fur babies when you were a child and they still care for your fur babies just as much now. Dr. Mitra is always thoughtful and just like the others, has a way that you know he cares about your pets and you. Brittany and the ladies at the desk are super kind and that matters to an animal lover.

I have been taking my pets to Dr. Sova for 25 years. He is a kind, gentle and very competant doctor who really cares about the animals in his care. His staff is a reflection of him and are kind and caring. I would highly recommend to anyone to bring their pets to Sova Animal hospital, you will not be dissappointed.

I am very disgusted. Dr sova was unprofessional and heartless when it came to my dog. I brought her for a regular routine visit. She was fine for about two weeks. She got a series of shots that caused all of her organs to fail. I later read that the doctor should have given blood work before hand and he did not. Later, he misdiagnosed her with a virus and it wound up being liver failure. Gave her the wrong the medicine and called frantically saying that her playlets were low and to stop medicine before she dies. Disgusting and sent us to an eye doctor that robbed us for 700.00 just for a visit

I took my dog there for an annual check-up, and vaccinations, and it was an extremely pleasant experience. I found the staff to be both extremely helpful and friendly. Dr Christina MacGilvray had an excellent bed-side manner, and was very patient and attentive to my dogs needs. You can tell that the staff there really loves animals, and it shows in there demeanor. I highly recommend this hospital for your veterinary needs.
