The property managers like to go back on their written words regarding the verbally abusive concierge Tyra. She's had multiple reports regarding her behavior and severely poor attitude regarding residents and guests as well. The property managers of current sent an email stating that the nuisance at the concierge desk was fired. As of today, that is not the case. Even as of 4:10pm, she is behind the concierge desk working. I was left stuck outside with my dog because she was hiding behind the corner of the desk. Luckily a neighbour let me in. What makes this worst is that I just left them

When I first toured I asked if it was a non-smoking building and they told me it was. My neighbor smokes all day long and it smells up the hallway and my apartment. I emailed 4 times, called, left voicemails, was hung up on. I finally went in person today and was told that it is in fact a smoke- friendly building and there is nothing they can do about the awful smell in my own kitchen. The workers at the front desk did not know that it was a smoke friendly building as I spoke to them many times about it. It is clearly something they try to hide to get people to move in. Very disappointed because

Living at Ellicott House has been enjoyable so far! We have lived here several years and enjoy what the neighborhood has to offer. The staff are friendly and usually responsive. However, in the past year or so, the noise level in the area has gone up significantly. We figure that this is a direct result of the bus stop that has been moved DIRECTLY in front of our bedroom windows.
In addition to the noise, we have had a few minor issues with how maintenance has (not) fully addressed plumbing leaks concerns,. Other than that we are happy with the maintenance support overall.
Overall, the experience

Love the building and its location! It is safe and quiet. Maintenance and staff are very helpful. Love the amenities as well. Wish I had moved in sooner than this!

Still the same issue. The kitchen sink is not draining and there’s still water under the stove and refrigerator

It’s been a journey that’s for sure. Good and bad. First off my unit is exactly the same as it was in 2008 so I’m not sure what’s actually updated except the lobby. (Hence the price staying low) Pool is still… not warm as it should be. Constant issue. Dogs on tennis courts constantly. I’ve called many times and now it’s pointless. There is a sign saying no dogs but nobody listens. I wanted to add my husband to my lease during the pandemic and they wanted money for not only the background check but also $100 for a fob. For my HUSBAND. Really during a pandemic

I moved out recently due to personal reasons and can say with all certainty that Ellicott is one of the absolute best apartment I had ever had the pleasure of living in. I have lived in several different apartments along Connecticut Ave and I must say that this is an absolutely wonderful place. I never ever encounter any pest or had any concerns regarding safety. All my concerns(few) were dealt with immediately. About Amenities, they have opened a few up but they are absolutely lovely. They really handled Covid seriously and I appreciated all the communication. I cannot recommend this place enough

I just moved in to a one bedroom apartment at Ellicott House and I already love it! The staff is very helpful and quick to process your paperwork. They are knowledgeable in all things ellicott house! I love how accessible the pool and fitness center are and that they are pet friendly. All the residents are polite and respectful of each other’s space.

Wow wow wow! This place is wonderful ! Mr.Jon ( the property manager) worked hard to ensure I was satisfied. He was responsive and extremely professional. The move in process was quick and easy; he was always communicating if there was any additional information needed . The apartment is gorgeous!! Definitely recommend !!

DO NOT MOVE HERE! They are running a scam. The management office markets toward graduate students (ie nursing, Undergraduate, Masters, and law students) at local universities and then decided to increase rent to exponentially high values that they cannot afford. On top of that when you go to management they don't care! You get "Oh I'm so sorry but there is nothing we can do". Then to make things even more upsetting the building is literally falling apart. The building has so many maintenance issues that need to be addressed and are constantly patched up for convenience. There

This apartment is not in a convenient location at all. If you are thinking about moving here without physically going to the apartment, DON'T. It is not near any grocery stores or metro stops and it is up a hill. If you are bringing your car, then fine. The rent is obviously overpriced, but it's the going rate in the area unfortunately. At night the front desk guy is always asleep. Most importantly, the business center is not for actual use, it is merely an exhibit for unsuspecting future residents being taken on a tour of the building. This room remains locked at all times and the only

DO NOT MOVE HERE!!!!!

If you're looking for a new apartment to live in in the DC area, don't even bother moving here. I have been here for 2 years and I can only say bad things about this building. I will list the cons below so you can make your own decision:

-There are more than enough weird people in this building. One neighbor confronted us because of the size of our dog (she's a medium sized dog) and almost punched my husband in the face. The management did nothing about this but asked us to send it in writing. This same guy is well known for harassing young women in the building

I have been living at the Ellicott house since I moved to DC over 2 years ago and I love living here. The staff here is great, especially if you need anything fix in your apt, it's done quickly. It's close to metro station and grocery stores.

Nice place to live. Easygoing lease process. Apts are bug free. Utilities are included which is good.
It is a bit far from the metro station, 15 min walk.

Appears to be a great community with some nice amenities although based on other reviews seems to be certain management issues. Indoor pool looks great and decent fitness center.

Poor experience trying to wait to see an apartment. Attempted to call but couldn't schedule an appointment since lady at front desk said I have to schedule it when the staff is in the office. Then was told that I have to wait a certain amount of time to be seen, then told by front desk that I have to wait more without anyone in the leasing office to come out to say so. Ended up waiting for almost an hour without seeing an apt. It shows the inefficiency and lack of respect for others' time. They could've easily tried to schedule me in at another time. If this is the culture of the

Horrible experience. I moved in a year ago. I had apartment issues from the very beginning that were never addressed - wasps in the balcony, screen door falling, ice maker damaged, at some point the microwave's door feel apart, chipping bath tub (They repaint the old tubs and the paint peals off after a few months). Every time we reported something, it was never addressed. The building manager - Maurin Simons - is as useless as her her staff. We finally reported that the front door staff made homophobic gestures and comments after I held my partner's hand in the building's lobby

Be warned: this is not a safe building to live in, and management (led by Maureen) does NOT "have your back." My husband and I were initially happy moving in to the Ellicott House in November 2015. Unfortunately, once they have your signed lease and your money, Mgmt no longer care about you, and act as negligently and disrespectfully as they want. The kindness and professionalism of the concierge and maintenance teams do not make up for the terrible leadership.

Issue #1-2: January 23-26 of 2016, a snowstorm hit DC. Mgmt left the garage doors open for 3 days, without keeping security

Most resident-friendly building I've ever lived - extremely accommodating and service-oriented. From signing the lease to move-in to helping my kids get in when they've forgotten their keys, support is always there. Maintenance has been quick and efficient at fixing minor issues; making sure everyone knows when a major issue has to be resolved. You walk in the door and are greeted by the concierge's "how are you doing?" - best place to live!

I have lived in Ellicot House for 3 years now and I love everything about it. As an avid biker being this close to one of the Top 3 urban parks in the country just can't be beat. Love having the utilities included in the rent as I blast the AC all summer long. Also the office manager is super attentive as I had a window seal issue and she had it resolved in less than 4 hours on a Saturday. Ellicot house can't be beat for these and all the Perks .

Pros: Decent staff, fairly updated apts.

Cons: Windows leak during a bigger storm (our carpets had to be replaced). Super noisy, especially with the fire station nearby. Old heating / AC, so hard to find proper temp in both winter & summer. Random ppl come to use the patio and tennis courts, the back door is always open. Neighborhood is mostly old ppl.

Overall ok, but way overpriced.

I lived in Ellicott House from 2005 until my departure in November 2011. It was a great place to live for most of that time. Then it was sold to a new Group that decided they would make the place "tony." They certainly did a number of attractive upgrades to the building, slightly improved the fitness room and resurfaced the indoor swimming pool. My apartment was an older one so I saw no improvement but those who got into a new unit saw maple cabinets in the kitchen and granite counters, stainless steel appliances and hardwood floors in the living room areas. These units came at a premium
