I invited a friend for lunch at Den, we met at one o’clock we both ordered the Chicken fried steak . The steak was extremely over salted and had way to much pepper, they were inedible. I’ve been here several times, the place is great, the staff is extremely helpful and polite, but the food seems to be regularly disappointing.

I went here for brunch while visiting family who frequents The Den. The decor is cute with a bit of a rustic feel. There are many classic offerings like omelets, burgers, etc.I ordered the chicken fried steak and a bloody Mary. The bloody Mary was great. It had bacon, pickled okra, celery and olives, with an optional salt/chili salt rim. I would recommend both.

We won a gift card for this place in a raffle. It's about 45 drive for us but took a little Sunday drive here today as it's a beautiful day! The place is huge and offers a ton of indoor seating with a phenomenal outdoor space. The outdoor has a enclosed bar with several TVs, outdoor seating for dining, kids play area and live music stage/area. The food is reasonably priced and won't break the bank. The quantity of food is solid and who doesn't love fried / stick to your bones type of grub. My chicken fried sandwich was the size of my head and my wife's chicken fried chicken

I’m not sure if it’s the times we go or what, but the 2 times we’ve come we have been disappointed in the food. The environment is absolutely amazing my daughter loves to play, and we enjoyed sitting by the heaters on a cold night. But the food just didn’t hit home for us :( we won’t be going back we spent $60 something and will have to go pick something else up now. I was super excited about the Mac n cheese, but it literally had no taste it tasted like plain cooked noodles. I was really hoping this would be our new favorite spot

This place is so fun! We love meeting friends here and getting to chat while the kids play in the very large play area! We moved out of town and haven’t been in awhile so we’re impressed with all the upgrades they’ve done! Looks awesome. The food is great also. Tex chicken fried steak, great salads and burgers and the kids love those meals also

The reason why this place is not getting 5 stars because the bus boys NON-STOP came to our table to take our plates / cups. Might I suggest to let customers enjoy comradery instead of interrupting every 10 minutes? That would have made this experience SO MUCH MORE PLEASANT.

We have been going to the Den since 2019 when we first moved to this area. They are awesome- staff is outstanding, friendly and very attentive. Has a nice menu, a nice bar with great selections and the outside area is delightful. A great place to enjoy an afternoon or evening. Great play area for the kiddos allowing Mom and Dad to enjoy their meal while the kids are playing. They also cater, had my husbands birthday party there and it was awesome. They have a nice catering menu and all of his guests truly enjoyed the food and atmosphere.

The wife and I usually try a different place every Friday. This week we tried The Den in Lavernia TX. The wife had the chicken salad stuffed avocado and she said it was killer, she would definitely have it again. I had the Tex-Mex Chicken Fried Steak. I usually try the chicken fried steak at every new restaurant we visit if it's on the menu. It was tasty except for the batter was a little too salty for my tastes and there was more breading than meat. So I've gotten take out here a few times but today was my first visit to the actual location and I gotta say, the atmosphere is WONDERFUL! They had a live announcer for a trivia fame, they played classic rock music, their drinks- phenomenal. The wait staff, patient and attentive. And the food, by god, so amazing. I just moved to this little town and this restaurant is around the corner from me and I gotta say I know why this place has hundreds of regulars. I thoroughly enjoyed all aspects of The Den. The food was delicious. The patty melt reigns supreme!! I ordered a bloody Mary, which was Soo delicious!!! The live music was awesome; Dylan Finley played an amazing set. I highly recommend this restaurant that offers great food, good drinks, and a family atmosphere. It even has a little playground and soccer area.

So thankful for an environment where my toddler can be a toddler: run and play! and mama can be the social butterfly and foodie that is me. Living on the outskirts of SA, you know that you will get good food in SA but this place proves that you do not have to go into the big city for full flavors and big servings.
I had the shrimp sandwich with sweet potato fries. This sandwich comes loaded with BIG shrimp, coleslaw, and something special sauce. Everyone at our table was pleased with their plates as well.

If you would like to get COVID-19, come here! At least 1/3 of the customers are not wearing masks. I'm not talking about at a table eating. I mean standing at the counter ordering, walking around. And that's not even the worst part. Children's play area is open and being used. From where we are sitting I can see into the kitchen. They all HAVE masks they are down around their chin. Not all of them, but more than one. No gloves while preparing food. So if you want to get sick, possibly die, if you would like your children sick, come on down!

Love this place!! Amazing bartenders! Never let ya down!!! Food is pretty Great too! They carry crawfish during the spring! It's 17$ a lb and amazing!!!

The only thing great about this place is the outdoor playground and live music. The quality of all the food is poor and all tastes frozen; nothing tastes fresh.
Another con would be the number of times we've visited and tables are reserved for hours with no seating available. It just doesn't seem like a very effective process and discourages new customers when this is one of the highlights of this place.
We enjoy the atmosphere and the drinks, and return because of that.
As far as food is concerned, it tastes liKe the kids are cooking it and that's as deep as the quality gets

Well ... I've done it again.
I forgot the food pics. ...Sigh.
So, our party ordered 1) the mushroom chopped steak, no gravy (GF), with slaw & veggies; 2) grilled salmon with slaw and fruit; and, 3) pulled pork nachos.
The chopped steak was cooked perfectly, topped with grilled chopped onion and mushrooms. The vegetable medley was delicious, and the slaw was good.
The grilled salmon "Was good; moist and flavorful; portions were good for a small person, but may not be enough for someone with a hearty appetite."
Pulled pork tacos were "very good."
