It had been years since I had been to Earl Abel's Restaurant .I stuffed my face yesterday with some of their delicious entrees and was very pleased.

I got to try the Abel's Meatloaf, Chicken Fried Chicken, and the signature Abel Hot dog. They also have some great sides like Mashed Potatoes, Mac & Cheese, and Chorizo Garlic Rice.

The place is decorated like your food ole fashion diner with nice booths, great service, and a nice patio area to eat outside. Check it out sometime soon

Swung by during lunch and tried the turkey Cobb salad with the creamy chicken soup. The salad was fresh and much more filling than I expected and the soup was just what I needed on a chilly day. Couldn’t help but take home some key lime pie and banana pie. The key lime pie tasted like fresh limes and the banana pie was full of fresh bananas. Would definitely recommend!

My friend, my granddaughter, and I had a great lunch on Sunday. I had not found anywhere to get good meatloaf. Theirs hit the comfort food spot! We ate on the patio and had a wonderful time. $65 for lunch for 3.

I liked the old location better. They had a bigger place and more options on the menu. The food was still great and so was the service. I was surprised by the paper plates. All 3 of us enjoyed our meals.

Nice outdoor eating area… virus friendly. Staff is very helpful and the BLT is fabulous. Bakery items have happily remained iconic.

First thing is first, we were excited for this foodie meetup and proceeded to order the Bailey’s Frappuccino. The drink was truly delicious. Then, we ordered in it took five-ever (50 minutes plus) to get our food. When we got our food it was not correct and we had to send it back. We got a turkey club sandwich and asked for bacon on the side and add cheese. The cheese was shredded and melted on the bread. A piece of the pick that holds the pieces of sandwich together in the sandwich. Honestly, the food is meh and if you decide to visit get the Frapp. (They took off the sandwich from our check

Went in for the first time this afternoon and was not disappointed. I got the chicken fried chicken and let me tell you easily some of the best fried chicken I have had. I am very picky about my brown gravy and this one definitely hit the spot. Would definitely recommend!!

We got a table quick and server was attentive. GREAT service!! Yes food did take a while to get there but obviously its because its made from scratch.
Kids burger didnt have much flavor, nor did the catfish (breading was excellent though), but fries, Frappuccino, biscuits and mash potatoes were great!
Next time going to try the fried chicken!

I contemplated even writing this review. Because I have been in the restaurant business for YEARS. I don't like complaining where there isn't anything to complain about.
We went here today mainly because I wanted to try the desserts. And their pie has great reviews.
The food was mediocre. The "best fried chicken" was tiny little white meat pieces. The rice was over cooked and the macaroni and cheese was dry.
The desserts were great.
My fiancée lost something there of value. We heard it fall in between the crack of the booth but didn't think anything of it. Until we

Was craving fried chicken and this place didn't disappoint. They also have pies and cakes. The drinks are: Practice what you peach, and a mocha frappuccino. It was like a hole in the wall but wasn't. It was cozy inside and exactly what I was looking for!!

My husband and I walked in at 7:20pm and right away an employee told us "To-Go" orders only because they wanted to get the kitchen staff out before 8pm. They close at 8pm I guess they rather get out early then make business. It was also our first time here. Worst customer experience so far.

I ordered a long island. It was proper. The chix and waffles were done right. I got the fried chix instead of the tenders. Definitely will be going back. It's a full bar as well.

Earl Abels isn't the same. They've really slipped on the quality home style meals. It seems they're trying to appeal a younger crowd with the focus more on the bar and serving alcohol which I don't ever remember being at the other locations. No plates or silverware, everything was paper. It's not appealing to get a soup in a paper picnic bowl let me tell you. I said to myself if they bring out plastic utensils I'm gonna lose it and there they came in a plastic bag. Ig it's for covid but come on many restaurants still do the dishes just fine. I also got a chocolate

I don't know about you, but I would think a restaurant that serves breakfast (and is rather well-known for it) would open early.
Nope, Earl Abel's opens at 11 am. Odd.
We had both seen Earl Abel's in the original funky building and were expecting that, only to see that it had moved into a nondescript strip center near the Pearl madness. But, we decided to try.
Both ordered the Earl Classic Breakfast. $8.95. Food was pretty good. Promised hash browns were fried potatoes, but they were good. Everything cooked to order correctly. Also ordered a side of chorizo and garlic fried rice

The food is still good and they still serve most of their classic entrees, but this is not the old school Earl Abels. Modern rustic atmosphere. Service is absolutely terrible. Someone behind the counter told us to seat ourselves but there were no clean tables. A busser finally came and we stood there for 10 minutes as they removed dishes from 4 dirty tables, made 2 trips to the kitchen and then returned to wipe up the mess. She was rude and snapped at us when we asked if she could dry the wet seats. Overall the staff was inconsiderate and unprofessional. When I go out I don't care to over

It's Pi Day! And this is THE place to get pie! There were nine different kinds of pie this morning, and down to three kinds when I arrived. The Maple Pecan Pie is amazing. And you can get it to go by the slice! After five it's $3/slice of pie for Pie O'Clock. Yum!

First time here and finally decided to try this place.

Arrived and was promptly greeted by the employee working the bakery counter. We requested to get seated outside due to Covid. We were told a server would be right out and for us to seat ourselves. We had no idea who our server was until a woman came out to take our drink order. We had been seated for 10 minutes at this point and she had been outside picking up and she never greeted us. She took our drink order and didn't come back for another 10 minutes. She asked us what we wanted to order, did even ask us if we had eaten here before

This long-standing San Antonio diner has earned its keep! It's easy to drive past this location without ever knowing it's there...which I think adds to it being such a gem. Tucked behind the Pearl Street Church and across the street from the giant apartment building under construction is this small diner that's a step back in time. Amidst all of the refined dining at the Pearl is this casual and cool spot.

I have now tried a few things in their menu and not one disappointed. Their fried chicken is amazing and hand battered with TLC. The biscuits are worth the trip alone. And

We are currently on a quest to find the best burger in San Antonio and Earl Abel's did NOT disappoint! I ordered the Chori burger which has chorizo and egg with salsa. Great bite! And the French fries are how I like them: crispy on the outside and slightly chewy. My SO ordered the chili burger and it had the perfect amount of chili on it. We will be back to enjoy the restaurant and we plan on bringing our dog to the dog friendly porch area!

Very pleased with our meal from Earl Abel's this weekend. I've always been a fan of their fried chicken (like who isn't?!). But now more than ever, I needed some in my system.

We called in an order of chicken tenders, green beans, mashed potatoes, and a biscuit as well as their chocolate ice box pie and had it delivered to the house.

First off, Earl Abel's has been serving up FANTASTIC fried chicken for forever. This meal was no different even though we ate it at home. The biscuit was so soft and buttery and still very warm. Probably the best biscuit I've ever had in
