I reviewed this motel in the past and it was wonderful, but our last stay was anything but... something's changed. Our room had a popcorn, asbestos ceiling which appeared to have a past leak (health danger) as well as a shower curtain rod was was half-detached, causing a wet bathroom floor (isn't there maintenance here?). Also asked for a quiet room and the totally uninterested desk clerk gave us a room at the top of the stairs with lots of foot traffic. Told all this to the owner(?) at check out, and he couldn't have cared less. We're done here.

It's a MOTEL not an Inn. Somehow, I got duped into a $289 per night rate. This is a $150/nt motel at best: tired towels, tiny old tv, clanky old school air conditioner, industrial soaps, etc, etc. OK as a MOTEL but def not a $289 Inn.

Decent hotel. Good lighting/feels safe. Walkable to downtown. Just average overall though! We paid way too much for one night (333 after taxes)
Update: I will say the whole area was expensive for this night in particular for some reason (no festivals or special events to my knowledge), AND this was the cheaper option by maybe $50 a night for a place in walking distance to downtown.

Worst hotel experience ever. the desk clerk is completely unprofessional and complained about me "not calling ahead of time" the day of my stay even if I already had my reservation for weeks. besides that the place felt dirty and honestly not better than a random motel. if I could give it no stars I would

Small rooms, but nicely redecorated. Neighborhood isn't amazing, but there are bright lights and cameras in the parking lot, so it feels reasonably safe. Close to downtown, so it's convenient to shopping and dining

It was quiet which was nice. I loved how it was close to everything.
My only two complaints would be how the second room has no tv and no air conditioning so it had zero air flow I went for my birthday and my two friends stayed in the second room and they actually drove to a Target and bought a fan.. because it was so hot for them
And then the second complaint would be that when we first got there I always inspect everywhere I stay so I look in the bathroom and the toilet paper on the roll already is used it was not a full roll it was used already.
But other than That it was pretty clean.

Found this place on Expedia last minute. Check in was easy and the people at the front counter were very friendly. The rooms are super small (2 double beds) with hardly any room for 2 adults to do anything but sleep. The beds however were very comfortable. I slept extremely well for being away from home. The bathroom has been remodeled and everything was clean and neat. I would recommend this place only if you need some where to sleep.

Great location. Comfy beds. Room was a little small, but who's spending time in the room when visiting a town like this? Great service. Stopped here after camping in Yosemite and hadn't showered in days and when we requested extra towels they arrived at our door in minutes. TMI?

What a great place to stay for a few nights, great location ( 2 - 3 blocks away from downtown). Room was very clean, loved the king size bed. Nothing super fancy but great deal, no red flags. Friendly front desk, couldn't ask for more.

It's definitely nothing special especially for the price. The front desk staff were miserable but the housekeeping staff were fantastic. The rooms were very clean with a fridge, microwave and a coffee maker. I recommend bringing your own filtered water for the coffee machine as it really affects the taste using sink water.
Great location, minutes walk to Downtown. Beautiful view of Marsh or "Madonna" mountain. Right off the freeway.

The motel is ok but exspensave for what you get. One night is $200.00 . Also the parking fills up fast. So you might have to park on the street.

Only stayed 1 night and it was fine. Nothing special but everything was clean and neat. It’s a motel so you get what you pay for but it did the job and all the staff were super nice and helpful!

I spent one night at this place and was surprised! It felt clean, but I still wiped down all high touch surface area's with my Clorox wipes. We had a room with a King bed and the bed was pretty comfortable! This place also came with free parking, which is always a plus when booking a room, and it was quiet when we got there. I will say that this place was slightly more expensive than the other hotel's we stayed at during our vacation at over $120 a night.

From what I remember, this place is located right across the street from a gas station, and there are several restaurants and small

I spent four nights at The Avenue Inn, which means I was there for 5 whole days.
I've stayed at several of the well-rated budget motels in SLO before, including the Los Padres, The Lamplighter, and the Best Western, but the Avenue is the best. It is slightly more expensive than Los Padres, cheaper than Best Western, but better than both.

The rooms are spotless clean and the beds are comfortable. Wall-mounted A/C works perfectly.

As other reviewers have mentioned, the location is incredible. It is a 5 minute walk to downtown. Pismo is 15 minutes away to the south and Morro Bay is 15 minutes

Bummer of a place.

Asked to be downgraded from premium room with King bed to two twins. Didn't request discount or money back just two twins.

They wanted a 35% INCREASE in nightly rate!!!

They said they'd rather win and have us loose. As long as they win!

No effort to do the right thing. No compromise.

I'd rather sleep on the floor than pay extra for a downgraded room. Especially when they had availability.

Not how I was raised.

We really enjoyed our stay at Avenue Inn! The room was clean and they had COVID safety measures in place when we checked in (requiring masks, barriers, etc). It's right off the freeway (but we didn't hear any traffic) and super close to basically anywhere you'd want to go downtown. It's also only about a 15 minute drive from the nearby wineries. We'd definitely stay here again.

We stayed here for 2 nights and it was pretty nice. The bf and I decided to go on a mini road trip and stop here along the way. This inn is really easy to find. We had a late check in (11:30pm) and they have someone present for late check ins which was great. We stayed in room 209. This room was clean, bed was comfortable and it was completely clean. We were able to find parking inside the inn at all times but be weary that on some busy weekends, the parking lot might fill up as one night we were there we legit got the last parking spot. Check out process was smooth. This inn is located near many

This is a good little hotel in a fantastic location. This five star rating it's not meant as a comparison to the Ritz Carlton. It's a five star rating of hotels of a similar class and price point in this area.
The person who checked us in was lovely. She was very sweet and extremely helpful! Our room was clean and comfortable. Due to Covid, I generally bring sanitizing wipes and wipe down all of the surfaces. When I did it here, they were immaculate.
You can walk the entirety of downtown from the hotel. No need to drive at all. That being said, it is removed enough from the business district

Wow! I arrived early (noontime) and the front desk put my room together immediately. The manager told me that they were sold out last night. I believe it too, both Hilton's were sold out. I was in my room in five minutes. The room had recently been remodeled and it had one of the biggest flat screen televisions I'd seen in a motel. Three words; I'll be back!

Basic hotel room in SLO. It was good for our short getaway:

*One of the lowest prices during 7/4 holiday
*Clean room, seems renovated
*Close to attractions downtown
*Closet is walk in but a bit narrow l and it has no light inside
*Fridge inside the room
*Conditioning shampoo not the best, definitely need to bring your own conditioner
*Includes Shower cap
*Outside corridors
*Limited parking, complimentary
*Check in was easy, friendly front desk agent
*Wifi worked well, also complimentary

Would recommend for a no frills stay. All the places we went to were a few minutes away in a car. Probably

What a nice place! Easy to get to from the freeway, quiet, windows that open from better sleeping (IMHO) and a friendly staff. There are lots of"extra touches" that made us comfortable, clean new linens and bed was perfect, we had one Queen. Total price on Expedia was $90. Well worth the price.
Bathroom and furnishings were updated and current; nice pillows, clean. We enjoyed the colorful geraniums and nice looking hotel.
Easy walk to restaurants (Big Sky, Side Car) and spectacular bakery next door House of Bread . All recommended!
