We stayed in this inn before with pets and it was nice. The ownership and management changed. They charged us double each night for our stay. Horse flys in the room black mold in the bath room and the TV didn't work. Normal price was 68.00 per might. We were charged 124.00 per night. This is not the Hilton its a motor lodge at tge endbof town.. Not recommended.

This is just like any motel. It's rundown, it's shady, and it's just not the best. The room had a horrible smell too it and it's layout is just bad. If you have a lot of things that need power this isn't good either because the outlets are vary sparse. I don't recommend this place to anyone unless you're really desperate. Find somewhere better to stay!

After the full solar eclipse, the road trip path we chose for home was to spend all Tuesday driving until we couldn't. We couldn't anymore right around Brookings so we pulled into the Spindrift.
PROS:
The room was very clean
There was a microwave, mini fridge & coffee machine
The coffee was decent
They have real glass glasses for "cups" whereas some hotels have plastic ones in wrappers
The toilet paper was soft
There are ample outlets
If you close the bathroom door it muffles the fan noise some
CONS:
The Kleenex was rough (think elementary school bathroom brown paper towel

The manager was nasty and angry because we mistakenly pulled in the wrong area. He was angry because my husband would not back out on 101 and back down the road 50 feet to pull in the graveled area. He stated everyone knows that the unmarked gravel driveway is the place for those pulling trailers. Really? It is not marked and you cant see what the drive way is until your right at the driveway. You never want to pull down a driveway unless you know you can turn around. The manager did move his SUV so we could pull in, but he stomped around like a spoiled kid, went in and got a bat to fix the

The couple who own and operate this place are clearly unbalanced. I stayed there for an extended period and absolutely could not believe how poorly they treated their paying customers. The wife with the ridiculous red-dyed hair was the worst. RUDE does not begin to cover her aberrant behavior and downright ignorance. Absolutely obnoxious!
When the husband wasn't yelling back and forth with his wife, he was constantly yelling at customers over nothing. I could go into great detail, but will not. I am convinced they have psychological problems and genuine trouble dealing with people.

Me and my dad are on our way back from Canada and had planned to camp all the way down the coast but unfortunately we didn't have a set plan of where and when we were going to stop so we never made reservations. As fate would have it, everywhere was booked up. So I used my AAA app to find a cheap hotel and came across Spindrift. I booked it up as it had two beds and was within budget.
We got there at 6:30ish and the guy in the office turned out to be the owner (along with his wife)! I have ALWAYS respected owners who also manage and WORK with and in their business. His name was Mike and

Good place, IF YOU ARE HIS KIND OF PERSON.
I attempted to check in. I was camping, and my tent leaked
The clerk, A SKINHEAD, had an attitude and became agitated when I did not fill out the registration form fast enough.....or somehow not to his satisfaction.
I asked if there was a problem. I was told my kind don't belong there.
Well, I might not be beautiful. I am just a 72 year old retired General Practitioner who had a 3 day beard (who doesn't on vacation?).
I admit I did not see a swastika tattoo, but I know it is there.
Hey, Skinheads and Neos need love, too. Right?

Not a five star resort, but it doesn't need to be. We arrived in Brookings late at night to no vacancies anywhere. We called the Spindrift and they agreed to hold their last available room until we arrived as we were only a few minutes down the road. The manager, Michael, was very friendly and informative.
The room wasn't anything special, but it was clean and nice enough. We were able to take a hot shower and sleep in a bed, so we were happy. Walls are a bit thin, and we were near the stairs, so it was a noisy night around us.
Otherwise, not a bad place to stay. Exactly what you

Our room was clean and tidy. I could see the ocean and hear the surf - which is a real bonus! Michael, the manager, was very helpful and direct. We appreciated his candor and commitment to excellence. Having free WIFI was great as well.
The only downside was something we should have checked on first, but failed to do. Our daughter and her family (a total of four: 2 adults and 2 children aged 8 and 6) were camping at nearby Harris Beach State Park. On the second day, because of the rain, we allowed the four of them to shower in our room. They used their own towels, shampoo and soap. I left a tip
