My name is David Gervais, New York State licensed home inspector and owner of Mid Hudson Home Inspectors, located in the Hudson Valley. My whole career has been involved in the building trades from the time I graduated high school until the present. I have been involved in all phases of building construction from concrete and foundation work right through to the finish.
A home inspection is a thorough visual examination of the structure inside and out. All areas of the home from the foundation to the roof and everything in between will be inspected. You will be informed of any current or potential problem areas with the home. At Mid Hudson Home Inspectors you will receive a concise professional and easy to access written report in language and terms that is easy for everyone to understand.
A pre-listing inspection can help you as the seller to assist the sale process to go as quickly and smoothly as possible. As the seller you can use this information to fix or repair any items without being rushed by the time limits of a sale. It allows you to view the home through the eyes of a neutral third-party to alert you to any potential safety hazards or any items in need of repair.
Radon is a odorless colorless gas and is a potential health hazard. It is the number one cause of lung cancer in non-smokers in the United States. It is highly recommended to have your home tested for radon before the purchase and may be required by some lending institutions. Radon test kit will be installed in the home, usually in the basement and left at the premises for a minimum of 48 hours.
Water quality testing is also highly recommended to do at the time of the home inspection. Water testing can alert you to any potential problems with the water in the well. We offer water testing from a basic bacteria test all the way to a comprehensive water scan which tests for many problems with the water.

Dave Gervais did a great job inspecting a home we wanted to buy. He identified numerous issues and spent a long time talking us through what they meant. As first time home buyers, we had a lot to learn and Dave was kind, courteous, thoughtful and accommodated all of our (many) questions and concerns. He was very thorough in his report and got it to us very quickly. Unfortunately the sellers of the house he first inspected for us backed out before we went into contract. We let him know that we would be needing another inspection, and after we found our dream home, he squeezed in a new inspection

We had the pleasure of having Mid Hudson Home Inspectors, llc do our home inspection. Dave Gervais is professional, extremely thorough, and very courteous. He prepared for us an impeccable detailed report; probably the most helpful item found was that our expansion tank was severely rusted and on the verge of causing a huge mess if it let lose. We had the expansion tank fixed within days, and tended to all the other items listed on our report. We had this inspection done prior to listing our house for sale, we wanted to be proactive and it sure paid off; within 3 days on the market we were in contract
