Iyengar yoga has changed my life, particularly my posture. I started doing Iyengar with Leah Flaks when I was 63 or 64 years old and am now 68. My neck stuck forward and I had that tendency to curve my shoulders that people often get as we get older, especially if we've worked on the computer forever. Since doing regular Iyengar, now when I see my reflection in the glass of a store window as I walk past, I am astonished how much straighter I am and how much younger I look! And my arms, legs, and abs have naturally gotten stronger.

Discovering adeline yoga in 2014 was a lifechanger for me. The quality of instruction is so high and they have such a range of classes that there is something for everyone. Adeline yoga has a special place in my heart and I'm deeply grateful for the wonderful teachers there. And now with their virtual classes, I can attend their awesome classes even if I'm not in berkeley. hooray!

Adeline Yoga is a wonderful yoga studio with incredibly knowledgeable teachers, numerous class offerings and workshops, and a well priced membership model. I began taking regular online classes here at the beginning of the shelter in place in mid-March 2020. Booking classes is super easy using the mind body app or online. I appreciate how thoughtful Adeline Yoga has been in navigating the last year+ in terms of offering in person classes (vax only), outdoor classes and continuing to expand online/zoom classes.

After doing a variety of yoga styles with a variety of teachers for decades, I discovered a teacher I really liked who was rooted in Iyengar yoga, but she was the only one at the studio I was attending. I wanted more Iyengar yoga - lots more. A friend recommended Adeline Yoga Studio where I started with the Fundamentals series 3-4 years ago and never looked back. I love the focus and attentiveness that Iyengar yoga asks of us as we practice asana, and I have also found a home for the study of yoga philosophy and spiritual growth. The teachers make the practice welcoming, accessible and safe for

As an Iyengar Yoga teacher and deeply committed student, I am exceptionally discerning regarding my own yoga practice. With Zoom classes now available, like never before, I have come to find that Adeline is, without question, one of the best yoga studios in the entire country! The teachers are exceptionally knowledgeable, the offering of classes numerous & varied, and, important to me, the business is exceptionally well-run and could be a model for other yoga studios to emulate.
Thanks Adeline!

I've been taking yoga classes at Adeline Yoga Studio since 2014, and have only good things to say about the level of instruction I receive. Along with a wide range of classes offered to all levels of practitioners, the studio is a warm and inviting place. While I'm located in SoCal, the live streaming classes now offered allow me to continue practicing with them.

Teacher....5 stars. Excellent ivengar teacher, Sarah Harvey. Alignment and posture...very precise teacher!
Studio customer service .... 1 star. It seems the studio has issues with the use of hotmail to send the zoom information prior to a registered class. Their response to this problem is that it's the customers problem due to the use of hotmail. Multiple calls but nothing resolved the issue. Funny that the bill came on hotmail without problem!

I have had the pleasure of practicing yoga at many studios but Adeline Yoga was a game changer for me. I had come back to physical activity after sciatic nerve issues and i was so fortunate to find this studio and Iyengar yoga. I was given so much support and at every class, with every pose, I was given options so that I could participate fully in my comfort zone. My pain went away and I credit Iyengar yoga and the amazing teachers for that. Then, when I was pregnant, I still attended and continued to get the support and guidance I needed to continue practicing. I had the most comfortable pregnancy

Adeline is an excellent yoga studio, both for beginners and seasoned practitioners. The studio vibe is very warm, open & welcoming. They have all the props you need, the teachers are all well trained (the average Iyengar teacher undergoes 3-5 years of training & hundreds of hours before taking their assessment and receiving their qualification as a Certified Iyengar Yoga Teacher.) Before each class the teachers always ask their students if they have any medical issues or physical limitations that might affect the students practice, and then offer well thought out modifications tailored

Adeline Yoga is more than just a yoga studio. It is a place where total beginners are welcomed as well as seasoned practitioners. It is a safe space where one is gently encouraged to do their personal best with respect of boundaries. It is non dogmatic but still is an Iyengar Yoga studio within the Iyengar tradition. The wide offering of classes is amazing with classes for seniors as well as energetic younger folks. Yoga Philosophy classes and sadhana studies classes are offered to allow a student to deepen their practice of yoga. It is not a sleek studio but a hidden gem in South Berkeley! Come

Regardless of level and ability, there is a class here for everyone. My first class was a restorative session because had a herniated disc preventing me from walking. After a few months in the restorative classes I was finally able to stand on my own two feet and move into a more active class. The teachers here are more than teachers, they are healers and will take the time to know you and help you develop a confident practice. I avoided surgery thanks to these teachers, and I continue to strengthen my body by coming at least once a week. Their passes and rates are very affordable for commiting

This is a lovely little studio in which anyone can get a taste or begin to advance their practice in the Iyengar lineage.
The small space was very full for the class I joined on Saturday morning. So if you are someone who doesn't like to be close to others while they are sweating, breathing and bending, then keep this in mind. Yes, it was sweaty. The studio has no ventilation except for a couple of fans and the front door.
The instructor was knowledgeable about the postures. She honored the lineage by calling out people for misalignments, but was also encouraging to those who were

I took my first class at Adeline Yoga this weekend with Leah Flaks (the class I took was "Iyengar Yoga - Level I). Her instructions were clear and her teaching was inclusive. The poses she taught were comprehensive, including a range of movement. I can highly recommend Leah as an Iyengar yoga instructor.

Sarah Harvey at Adeline is the best yoga instructor I have ever had. Her classes are fun, instructive, helpful, and she builds a fabulous sense of community among all of her regular attenders. New people are greeted warmly and quickly become part of the group. She is a real asset. And you can tell her I said so.

Lying down next to me was an older woman who hadn't done yoga for years, and was using physical support for injuries / chronic stress. While Heather (the instructor) was giving general directions to the rest of us, this woman was given modifications so she could do the poses and progress in class

It'd be easy to gush about Adeline Yoga and write a long love letter. It'd start about how, over two years of practice, it's changed how my wife and I understand and take care of ourselves -- and each other. There'd be mention of the community that's been built and the regulars who greet and support each other. It would cover the deep dedication to Iyengar yoga -- and the attention given to teach not only the asanas, but the philosophy and spirit behind the practice.

Adeline yoga is a studio located in Berkeley near the Oakland border by the Adeline/MLK corner. My girlfriend convinced me to join her for a beginner yoga course that is ten weeks long, and so far I love it!! She had told me about this place for months, and we finally signed up a few weeks ago. I am very happy that we joined this yoga studio, we both love our instructor Anneke.
Anneke spends the time to get to know every student, she introduces herself to every new student, and along with Zain (another instructor) they are very hands on when it comes to correcting your form during class.

I feel incredible passionate about this great studio and the support it gave me during my pregnancy.
I practiced at Adeline for a year while living in Oakland, and I cannot say enough great things about the teachers and the yoga community. I went religiously 2-3 days a week.
I've been practicing yoga for eight years. I've done many different styles, but Iyengar Yoga is by far my favorite. If you're looking for yoga that will feel like you're being challenged, healed, and made stronger all at once, this style (and studio) is right for you.
I also had the joy of being pregnant

Heather, the owner of this studio, is the best of the best of instructors! She is full of compassion and a true desire to strengthen/help/heal all those who set a mat in front of her. (She's sought out these traits in the other instructors here as well, so if you can't make one of her classes, no worries. You'll still be in excellent hands in another class.)

Today was my FIRST EVER yoga class. The only thing I knew was how to spell yoga. I was welcomed and encouraged! Class size was perfect! Excellent instruction with hands on correction. Although I fought back some tears because I simply couldn't do basic lifts-So I got over myself and just did what I could- and was provided assistance and instruction on proper alignment. Today's instructor will be moving back home to Hawaii, and she has left an impacting effect on my state of mind

Adeline Yoga Studio is a welcoming and pleasant space for practitioners of all levels. Yoga classes are very intimate here, teachers give a lot of attention to students and focus on poses suited to personal specific needs and injuries. I highly recommend Adeline to anyone looking to better their practice or just looking to spend some quality time practicing yoga in a wonderful studio space!
The studio is newly renovated and looks amazing, many props and yoga mats are already available so nothing is necessary to bring with you - which is nice for those commuting from outside of Berkeley. Lovely

Coming to Anneke's Fundamentals class at Adeline Yoga Studio is the highlight of my week. I've dropped in to a handful of yoga classes in various locations, but I never thought it was for me because nothing ever clicked. That changed when I took my first class with Anneke at Adeline Yoga Studio. Because I'm a perfectionist, the precision of Iyengar yoga combined with Anneke's detailed instruction and explanations of each asana (pose) really spoke to me, and I now know that yoga is for me!

Went to Adeline for the first time last weekend, and due to the open house, got to meet Heather, and other members of the community.
The biggest thing I feel Adeline provides is something many bigger studios actually seem to lack- community.
It's not that studios need to be small, or not so money focused; it's just that their community/sangha has been necessary for them to really thrive.
An example of this is that the open house was set up/broken down by student volunteers.
So this sense of community is very palpable and I think very special.

I checked out Adeline Yoga because they had an Open House on Sat 4/20/13. It's not far from Ashby Bart, but from UC Berkeley it's a good mile or so.
They had lots of free desserts, juice or water, even Henna from a girl trying to raise money for a trip to Guatamala.
I got to take a free class even. Glad it wasn't too hard, I'm just a Yoga newbie still. Teacher was really good I thought & I tried to do everything she said.
Studio is just one room & a bathroom.
If I lived closer I'd go here!
