Tree Of Life Yoga
In-person Rope Wall Classes: Rope Wall classes are inspired by the fundamentals of Iyengar Yoga. This practice utilizes props on and off the wall to build strength, improve posture and increase flexibility. The wall ropes help to open areas of the body that may be difficult to access without the use of ropes.

This practice offers support for the body to increase awareness of balance and alignment while in the poses. Livestream Iyengar Basics Mat Class: This class utilizes the fundamentals of Iyengar Yoga to align, strengthen and open the full body. Standing and seated poses are included to balance the practice.

THERE IS A NEW YOGA INSTRUCTOR AT THE TREE OF LIFE STUDIO, AND HER NAME IS ANA FRENES!!! She is FANTASTIC!!! Jessica Shi, founder of Tree of Life Yoga has passed the torch to Ana! I attended Jessica's classes every Sunday for over 2 years (I waited over 6 months to obtain a coveted Sunday spot). I've been a nurse for over 30 years and suffered from chronic neck, shoulder and mid back pain. Jessica helped me to keep my mid spine open using the ROPES and my chronic pain is much less intense. ANA TOOK OVER IN JULY 2019. She studied under Jessica for 9 years and completed many IYENGAR

Wow. Go see Jessica. I cannot recommend her enough. I have been struggling with chronic pain for years and have seen so many doctors, healers, chiropractors, etc with no avail--then I met Jessica. She is phenomenal. She is this crystal clear x-ray vision, where she looks at you and immediately knows what's going on. She has a keen sense of anatomy and the mechanics of the body. Shes the only person who has been able to locate and address my pain. She's also super down to the earth and funny. Go go go.

I highly recommend Tree of Life Yoga. I've been going consistently since last year to the Rope Play/Spine Care class and absolutely love it. Jessica, the owner/teacher, has an impressive knowledge of anatomy and explains things in a very meaningful way. I've had low back pain for ages and feel like, since I've been going to this class, things have improved greatly. The space is great, the class size is small and you get a lot of personal attention. Plus everyone is very friendly and has a good sense of humor. I feel great after each class! Thank you Jessica and Tree of Life!

To the only one star yelp reviewer, please dont discredit an establishment when you yourself was not even there. Misunderstandings happen, I understand that, but dont make an assumption that this place does not help the "non-yoga" types...what does that even look like? I dont practice yoga every day, but I love its benefits and I dont need yoga pants to prove it...ive met this wonderful lady through capoeira a few times and been meaning to visit this establishment ever since she opened her studio...ive read her various clients inspiring stories...cancer survivors, people in such chronic

I've tried yoga at so many different places over just as many years. Jessica Shi is the first yoga teacher to really help me, I went from having chronic pain to being pain free, and I do martial arts at age 50! I highly recommend her and have shared her with my friends who also speak very highly of her classes. 5 stars!

I absolutely adore this place. Nice, clean space with great natural lighting. All the necessary equipment is already there (no need to bring your own mat). Jess is a wonderful teacher and she really takes time to know her students/clients. She also goes around the room and modifies poses depending on how advanced of a student you are.

I started off with the Beginner Series, which was a great intro to yoga. I've tried all the scheduled classes and my favorites are the rope, Iyengar and vinyasa.

I've been learning yoga, and starting to use those tools to put my body back in proper working order, from Jessica for about 6 months now.

From the very first hour I spent with Jessica, I went away feeling huge amounts better in my lower back and leg than I had in years. The subsequent several months of practicing every day and meeting regularly with Jess have gotten me to the point where I'm more flexible than I've been in decades. More importantly, they've gotten me to the point where I'm more *comfortable* than I've been in many years. I just feel profoundly

Jessica is absolutely amazing. I have been to quite a few yoga studios in the East Bay, and Tree of Life is definitely my favorite. Jessica has a way of giving everyone special attention and critiques you to really make sure you are doing the poses correctly. I am not very experienced at practicing yoga, but Jessica makes you feel very comfortable and does everything she can to accommodate each of her students, regardless of what level they are at.

I sit at a desk all day and Jessica gave me specific stretches and poses to help my posture and hands/arms. She is changing me for the better -- and

Almost everything has already been said, so I won't repeat the very true, excellent reviews regarding Jessica, the space, or the classes. Everyone is down to earth, lovely, and real. If you are into lululemon yoga pants and Eat, Pray, Love annoyingness- this is NOT the place for you.

Jessica did an outstanding in-depth assessment and now she is teaching me a completely new way to move, and, frankly, to live in my own body. Since I am very analytical, I appreciate that she shares her deep knowledge of anatomy and physiology.

Jessica is an amazing teacher: she has a talent for teaching, with an extensive knowledge of human body muscle structure and an unique empathy that allows her to understand the problem of each student.

I have tried many Tree Of Life Yoga classes, Intro / Beginner Series (Jessica), Vinyasa Level 1 (Vita), Mixed-Level Vinyasa (Jessica), Rope Play / Spine Care (Jessica/Vita), Restorative (Jessica) and all of them are great, intimate size and fun attitude without competition and judgment. Beginner Series is a five lessons course that I would suggest everybody to attend: Jessica teaches fundaments

I can't recommend Jessica and TOL highly enough.

I am constantly traveling for work (when not stuck at a desk and keyboard) and all the discomfort and muscle woes that go along with flying and travel were starting to catch up with me...until I was luckily turned on to TOL. I initially went in for back pain that I feared were a sign developing spine/disc issues....within minutes of the first session Jessica pinpointed the actual source of the pain and worked quickly to turn things around, with tailored follow-up that included detailed notes recommended exercises with particular attention

I have been to few yoga studios, but by far the best experience I had was here. Studio is always clean and tidy. Class size is fairly small so you always get enough attention. The teacher (Jessica) is very knowledgeable not only about yoga, but the anatomy of human body.
I had very tight hamstrings and Jessica helped me to create a little yoga workout that I can do on my own at home. You should see before and after!

Bay area has tons of yoga studios/teachers and it can be hard to choose, but you can't go wrong with this studio. Definitely try their Rope Class on Sundays (you have to make

I wish Tree of Life Yoga studio wasn't so far from my home. I attended half a dozen weekend classes there and enjoyed them very much. Jessica is a wonderful instructor and incredibly knowledgeable about human physiology. She stresses the importance of posture and correct form. She starts most of the classes by educating us on the anatomy of the body and how to properly practice each pose. Each class focused on different areas such as shoulder, hamstrings, core, etc. If I didn't live so far away, I'd definietly be a regular.

I've had lower back problems for years. I wasn't able to sleep on air beds without waking up with pain, or do certain exercises without feeling really sore the next day. i came to Jessica and within 2 months I was able to do it all. Jessica helped lay out a plan to get me moving the way I wanted to and I highly recommend coming to her for any chronic back ailments

Parking in the area is decent after work hours and sometimes busy on saturdays. It is parallel parking only.

I contacted Jessica because the reviews suggested she would be helpful for my back problems and because her studio is near my home. I have worked with her for several months and I couldn't be more pleased.

I have always been active, but about a year ago I hurt my back which caused pain and numbness down my right leg. I started physical therapy and other treatment but everything was SOOO SLOWWW. I missed the activities I had been doing and I missed my life. After a while I thought about how good some yoga had been in the past in keeping me stretched out and moving, so I thought about trying

I started taking lessons from Jessica last fall after tearing my meniscus. She put together a practice for me that got me on the way to recovery. She is very knowledgeable about anatomy (for example, did you know you have a psoas, I didn't) so I didn't have to be terribly concerned about aggravating my knee problems. Over time as my knee improved I was able to add poses, but she always made sure that I wasn't overdoing (a bad habit) and wasn't putting my knee at risk. My knee is completely pain free but I'm still going every week (work permitting) as I'm learning a

I have had chronic lower back issues since I herniated a disc several years back. I've tried everything to get it to 100%: chiropractic, massage, physical therapy. Nothing's worked, really. They're all temporary band-aids for a problem that needs a deeper approach.

Jessica at Tree of Life Yoga has helped shape that deeper approach: yoga. Jessica herself has gone through severe back problems and sciatica, and she's fixed those problems with her own yoga practice. Her experience was invaluable in shaping a yoga practice for me that has, without a doubt, been the most effective

There are many reasons why I practice here:
- Cozy, airy studio with lots of windows and light
- It's unpretentious and clean, lots of props to help my practice
- The people are friendly and nice, I enjoy practicing with the other regulars
- AMAZING teacher. Jessica who owns and teaches at the studio really knows what she's doing. She's super knowledgeable about yoga, injuries, anatomy, and body movement in general. I've never met anyone who is more patient and empathetic, and she knows how to push you without hurting you. I always leave class feeling energized and relaxed
