Dr. John D. McKenna has made the Indianapolis area his home for his entire life. He attended Mount Vernon High School in Hancock County and earned a Bachaelor of Science. Dr. McKenna then proudly received his Doctor of Optometry degree from the highly accredited Indiana University School of Optometry in 2001.

Thorough, periodic examinations of your eyes allow us to check how well you are seeing and to look for any early signs of disease or damage. Finding and treating problems early is the best way to ensure that you will continue to see clearly. Regular Eye Examinations: An annual examination allows us to check the health of your eyes and look for any changes in them.
EYESIGHT EYE CARE are services related to obtaining a glasses or contact lens prescription. While valuable, alone these services are limited. Because this is basic care, fees are generally less. One often finds EYESIGHT CARE services in malls or department stores. The question is would you have your baby delivered at the mall.
Annual examinations are important for the health of your eye. We want to make sure that your lenses are still fitting properly, and that you're not over-wearing them. We'll check for any swelling or irritation in the eye. We'll make sure that the lenses you're wearing are letting enough oxygen into your eye (we can make adjustments in the materials of your lenses if that's a problem).

I have been going to McKenna Eye Care for years. They are family owned and operated. Dr. McKenna is fantastic and very friendly. Larissa has been there for years, and nobody knows how to chose frames and fit glasses as well as her. The entire staff is warm and friendly. They have a great selection of frames too. I would choose them over a franchise store any day and give them my highest recommendation!

I had my exam donehere with Dr. McKenna and I feel like I got an okay exam, but I didn't have any problems. Dr. McKenna was understanding with any concerns I had and was kind. The staff was nice, some were more friendly than others. The selection of glasses was kind of limited. Most of the frames were plastic and the only metal ones were ones that seemed more appropriate for older women.
The office itself was a little bit off putting. It seemed messy and unorganized and the carpet was dirty. It could probably use a facelift, but I didn't have a terrible experience.

Dr. McKenna and his staff are the best! They’re knowledgeable, friendly, and beyond helpful. We had to get glasses for our three-year-old and not only did they make him feel comfortable with the exam, they helped us choose frames that fit his little head, provide a good warranty (hello he’s 3, oye!) and that he is excited to wear! Big win in my book! Compared to the big box retailers I would hands down come back here again, again. Dr. McKenna and his staff truly care and are passionate about helping us all see better. You won’t find a better optometrist!

Best office for eye exams for glasses and contacts! Dr. McKenna spends time with each patient checking eye health and listening to find the right solution for each patient’s vision needs. McKenna Family Eye Care is a clean and comfortable office with plenty of parking. You can schedule appointments online and the office is easy to find on the Eastside of Indianapolis near Warren High School and close to Irvington. I would not recommend this place most places take 7-10 business days to get back it's been over 4 weeks and I still have no glasses. The girl is always rude when I call to check on them and she always says we will call you, you don't have to check on them but can't tell me what the hold up is. I only have single vision no bifocal or any add ons. At this rate I can reorder them from ANY place else and get them before McKenna is done with mine. And after 2 more calls to check on them she tells me they have been waiting for me to come pick them up! I will never go back they are unable to perform their

I was in searches of an eye doctor near my home and that was in my network. I reviewed all the reviews on this place and they were fantastic. I decided to give it a shot. It was amazing and glad I chose McKenna Family care. The service was fast via appointment and the staff are friendly and helpful. The doctor was one of the best eye doctor's I ever had, and trust me I have been to a few. I highly recommend this place to anyone.

They gave the the wrong prescription (frankly I suspect on purpose at this point) when I told them I wanted to order glasses on-line. A month later when I took my new glasses in they pretty much told me to get back to the maker of the glasses to get the right script...I pointed out that the maker gave me the script they provided... they still refused to help. It is not Firmoo's fault the glasses were wrong it was McKenna's, and they pretty much admitted they gave me the wrong script, but were un-willing to do a freaking thing to fix their mistake.

I've been going here for 4 years. The service is truly amazing. The Dr's are awesome, but the floor staff is indescribable. Each person truly makes you feel special and will take more than enough of their time to help you find the right pair of frames. I wouldn't go anywhere else. The selection is trendy and up to date.
