Services
Shelley has been at Herkert Family Eye Care in some capacity since it opened in 1998. After a rewarding career in nursing, she now is our office manager and optician. Shelley enjoys the art of choosing frames, the science of lenses and optics, and the time spent meeting new patients and catching up with current patients.
Exceptional Eye Care is so much more than a quick prescription change to your glasses or a yearly renewal of your contact lenses. Your eyes are one of the most important organs in your body and you only get the one set for life. Dr. Herkert does do prescription glasses and contact lenses, but he also performs special testing and exams that can detect signs of disease or abnormalities early, while they are still easy to treat.
Dr. Herkert is originally from Marshfield, WI; hence the Green Bay Packer decor at Herkert Family Eye Care. He received his undergraduate Biology degree from the University of WI-Eau Claire and his Doctor of Optometry from Indiana University in 1991. After working several years at an ophthalmology clinic here in Indiana, he realized that the way to provide the best eye care for his patients was to open his own practice.

We know that it isn't always easy to choose new glasses which is why we have opticians who have years of experience of fitting and dispensing eyewear to help guide you in your selection. We always love a challenge, so if you are struggling to find the perfect fit we will give you one on one attention every step of the way.

The staff is off the charts friendly and knowledgeable which perfectly sums up Dr. Herkert. Seems every year he's got new and improved methods and gadgets for our vision care. I always have a tough time selecting glasses, and they are always so patient and helpful. We've been with them for many years and it feels like visiting your favorite family member😊. We were very fortunate to find them when we did.
