Jasmine and Lauren are amazing! I came by to see the apartments and fell in love. Unfortunately they had no units available but Jasmine took my number and called immediately as something came open when I needed to move. I got my keys 2 weeks in advance before I closed on the sale of my house. I know I bugged her so much with questions until I moved in, but she exuded so much patience and helped me with all my needs. I absolutely love the apartment and amenities and what gives this place 5 stars is the staff! There’s so many shops around the area and I love the apartment! I saw reviews that if

I stayed here for a year. I was new to Norfolk so it was a great introduction to the city. Everyone in the office was great, management did change towards the end of my lease but it seemed to be a positive change. I do wish the apartments had more up to date features and appliances, other than that everything was great.

I’ve been at 201 twenty one for about 6 months now and I can’t find a single complaint. To address the previous (and outdated) reviews, they have security every night for the parking garage and there has been no issues. The complex itself is massive equipped with a decent gym (for an apartment), a pool, theater room, lounge with pool tables and TVs, business center, and conference room. The apartments themselves have nice appliances and spacious. Especially the ones with a den which is a nice feature. The maintenance in the building is very quick to fix any issues you may have and the property

We have lived here for over a year. This is by far the best living situation we have ever had. The building is a historic one, with a courtyard that feels far away from street noise. Our apartment is very quiet, it's rare for us to hear any outside noise. The front office staff is friendly and professional. They address concerns promptly. The maintenance staff is excellent, and are incredibly prompt as well - often a small non-priority issue will be fixed within hours after I report it. The building itself has retail tenants - a spa, a pharmacy, Sweetfrog, Five Guys, and Koshi - the best sushi

Renters beware. I've lived here for almost four years. The apartment complex changed management about a year ago. Although the place had been repainted and became more decorated, it all comes at a cost. The area is not the safest for the rent they ask for. My car had been broken into and stolen while parked on Llewelyn street.
I don't often leave reviews but I feel the need to do so in this situation. I moved out recently and they charged exorbitantly for the clean up fees. After a $500 deposit, I was only left with about $150 returned to me. I was agreeable to the $250 cleanup fee

My experience at 201 Twenty One was pretty good.
Pros:
It’s in a great spot for food and bars in walking distance.
Amenities are nice and well kept.
THE OFFICE STAFF IS AWESOME!
Cons:
Garage is weird and sucks driving up and down steep hills.
Appliances are old and broken.
Train is loud all through the nights if your on the wrong side.
Overall my stay here was good. The best thing I can say is that the staff (Natasha & April) is attentive to needs and show respect to their customers. As to thefts as long as the gate is working and security you will be fine just make sure you don’t leave

Currently living here. The worst place anyone could live at. Been living here for almost a year. Just got my car broken into (along with several other cars). They say it’s a “safe and secured” place. Wrong. Garage doors do not work. Homeless always standing around in first floor parking and tried getting into the apartment building. They’re out to get your money. Like I said, got our car broken into and they won’t do anything about but to say “we’re hiring security” after so many car break ins and damages they finally decide to get security. Do not waste your time trying to look

I watched two cars get the windows smashed for some loose change in broad daylight from my apartment. I spoke to the police to offer my help in identifying the man both times and the police said that it was… common in the area and that they all dressed the same each day so that you could not identify them. I am so glad to be gone from this place. Not SAFE!

I have lived in this apartment complex for a little over a year and a half and I have grown more and more annoyed as the months go on. The people who live above me are loud and pound around and I can hear every step they make and when they move chairs around. I used to never hear anyone when I first moved in so I'm not sure if that room was occupied or they got their carpet replaces with hardwoods? The hallways constantly have lights going out that have yet to be replaced and the fire alarm goes off pretty frequently. They just recently repainted and changed the carpet in the hallways but

The management is amazing! April is particularly very sweet she goes the extra mile and they put so much effort to make you feel comfortable! Leasing and getting approved also was swift and easy they have amazing deals we got an entire month rent free! The amenities are the best you will find in this area we looked at over 21 buildings everything has been upgraded and is brand new ! The elevators the corridor floors very clean the only apartment with a smart home like system and free security system as well. Stores across the street cleaners everything you will need is on the same street!

I lived in this apartment building from September 2014 to May 2015. I moved due to a relocation to the Atlanta area. When I lived there, it was mostly young professionals and medical residents. Generally, a quiet population of tenants. I worked so much I did not have time to enjoy the pool as it had short hours. The pool tables and televisions in the common areas were nice. I used the conference rooms and theatre to gain free access to wifi. It was difficult to obtain a conference room some nights as many students were studying. One television in the common area wouldn't let you turn stations

I have lived here for three years now (retired and downsized from the home I owned for years in a nearby neighborhood). I have nothing but praise for the management and the maintenance staff. Any problem I have had -- which have been few and far between -- has received an immediate (I mean IMMEDIATE) response. And the office staff has been consistently personable -- upbeat and eager to meet any needs I might have. It's always a pleasure to deal with them personally -- picking up a large delivery package , that sort of thing. I'm sorry that anyone else on this ratings thread had unpleasant experiences

This place is so screwed up beyond belief; it is ridiculous...I have no choice but to be that one-star Yelper. Here's why:
- The elevators are painfully slow and the stairwells are far from the elevators, so you either waste time waiting for the elevators, or waste time walking to the stairs.
- The parking garage gate sensor doesn't always work so I've had to get out of my car to push the release button multiple times.
- The trash chute works about 50% of the time, so don't count on the convenience.
- The wood panel on my bathroom sink fell off within a week of moving in.

(From the point of view of a prospective tenant only... I did not live here.)
When you have a steady income, excellent credit, and a squeaky clean record, the last thing you expect is for the staff of a prospective apartment complex to make you feel like they don't have time for you.
Based on online searches, this place appears to be in an awesome location with amazing apartments. In person, my expectations were not met. I arrived at the office in the early afternoon on a Tuesday (during posted office hours). The door was locked--access denied. I thought this was weird. Apparently,

I leave in a one bedroom apartment on the first floor and not on 21st. I got really lucky and live in 119 which is the only apartment with it's own unique design. My bedroom is like a cave and with a small fan running i hear nothing and it's pitch black all the time. I pay 1390 a month and have a 17 month lease. I like it but will not be staying after the lease is up.
The courtyard and common areas are awesome and many people do have parties with family, I am including myself, so it your are a unsocial person you will hate that. the movie room and the workout area are very nice

IT IS NOT ALL THAT IT SEEMS TO BE!!! While it is a nice establishment in the area of Norfolk that it is in, BEWARE!!! My husband and I resided here for about 2 years and learned some really unpleasant lessons. First of all, DO NOT CHOOSE AN APT FACING THE COURTYARD!! While the courtyard/pool/grilling area "closes" at 10pm, there have been NUMEROUS occassions where residents violated this and management NEVER ENFORCED IT despite the suggestion to charge people for being in this area after hours. Also parking is can be inconvenient (for those with a 2+ car household). One spot is given

I lived at 201 twenty one for 13 months, it was a mistake. They roped my wife and I in because they gave the first 2 months free, but it was not worth it. Let's go through the problems:
1. We thought brand new carpet was a positive, we were wrong. The carpet is so thick and coarse that broke our vacuum and the maintenance guy said that he finds vacuums in the dumpster all the time because of the carpet. We had carpet that never had ever been stepped on under furniture and carpet that had been walked on around it during our 13 month stay. Of course brand-new, never-before walked on carpet

BEWARE! We have recently moved in here and have had trouble. They told us what we wanted to hear
to get us to sign the lease, but did not follow through once we got here. Our storage unit was switched to
a smaller one without us knowing, but they still tried to charge us the full price. We were told we would have
covered garage parking (have it in writing) but then they said one of our vehicles would have to be on the top floor
(not covered) or we have to park in "tandem" (blocked) parking spaces on our floor, which was not disclosed to us. It is a ridiculous

This is definitely as good as it gets here in Ghent. They just recently opened up less than a year ago and they have retail spaces that are going to be filled under the apartment complex (hoping for a supermarket!). They are the tallest building around, so you have to get the top floor because, if positioned correctly, your room could have a fantastic view of the city.
They have a putting green, a swimming pool, pool table and not to forget the theater that you can book for you and your friends. The thing with this place (compared to the Alexander at Ghent) is that they are much more classy.
