Great location and throwback room decor. I say don’t update except maintain. The exterior is to be desired but considering the harsh winter elements this is probably a challenge. Loved the layout of the room. Third floor ‘hall’ was too warm with patio doors closed. Nice pool with privacy from public.

We used Weathervane as a landing spot while we ran around between Charlevoix and Traverse City. It was the perfect pick (the Groupon helped, though). Clean, quiet, not ostentatious, within easy walking distance of a few good taverns and a pizza joint. We didn't use and of the amenities but would come back for the room.

Just checked in for a wedding locally and I have to admit for a $300 a night jacuzzi suite, while driving in from Chicago, I expected more. Lake view from my room involves looking through the leaves of a mature tree; I can barely see blue. Busted ceiling tiles, trim, and tiles are obvious. I would put this motel at a $100-120 a night during a peak summer weekday at its best.

I've stayed here several times, going back to around 2010. While I agree that the decor used to be dated, I can attest that they have done renovations and while it isn't hip and cool, it's understated and serviceable. The front desk staff has always been very helpful and friendly. Continental breakfast is fine but nothing special. During my most recent trip, housekeeping left a little to be desired- the maid forgot to wash dishes in the sink the first day (I received conflicting information about whether I was supposed to do it or she was, but she apologized profusely), but when

I had a great experience in the Lake Michigan Suites. They have brand new ac units that are very quiet. Nothing worse than hearing the heat or ac turn on off while you are trying to sleep.
The location is great. You pay to stay within walking distance of everything. I find it worth it. When the town is busy its difficult to find a parking space. This solves that problem. They are always updating their rooms. The staff is extremely nice. I spoke to one of the housekeepers and she asked if I wanted my room done right away. My room had a kitchenette which made things very convenient.

Like so many others have said...this place is run-down or past its prime. People friendly but the place is in sore need of renovation. The only really good thing was that it was quite cheap...off-season and a wedding party discount...can't imagine paying full freight in the summer for this place. Would never go back (sorry).

This place is just too expensive for what you get. The room is very run down and not the cleanest. The location, though, is perfect. But there are other hotels right in the same location.
Another weird thing is the stairs in the building we stayed in. They have this narrow set of spiral stairs. They go with the look of the hotel, which I did like, but trying to carry suitcases up and down those stairs was treacherous! There is another set of metal stairs if you walk around the building, but an elevator would be good! If you would have trouble getting your suitcase up a flight of narrow stairs

My wife and I stayed here the night if 8/12/16. It was a terrible experience because of the room. We knew in advance that the property was described as being "dated" but we didn't know that it was also filthy and stained. The carpet was black from years of staining as was also the upholstered furniture. The staff was pleasant and seemed to be accustomed to handling the complaints. I paid $275 for one night and I would have still felt cheated at $50. It was so bad that we discussed trying to sleep in our car or driving to another town that might not have been sold out. The

This is an aging hotel with a great location. We did a livingsocial deal for an amazing off season price. The room came with a jacuzzi and a king sized bed with 6 pillows.
Here's the breakdown -
1 star - Location
1 star - Jacuzzi and King size bed
1 star - Cheap deal
If you're looking for a week vacation in summer , you may want to look elsewhere. But, if you're looking for an off-season deal with a good location and a decent view, try this place out.

My experience here wasn't horrible. It served it purpose: cheap, close by to the airport and in town. This isn't the OMNI resort, my expectation weren't high. I had a clean room and the continental breakfast was decent. The only issue is that it got really hot in our room and we had to leave the window open to get air in. Our thermostat did not work at all. If i was stuck there again i would go back to this place.

When I checked in and entered my room I wasn't sure if it was the walk in cooler for the restaurant or if it was my room. After playing with the thermostat and noticing no results I prepared just sleep through it. In the morning I woke up sweating.
I also noticed my room had a nasty stench, hairs on the desk, garbage on the floor. I couldn't wait to check out of there.
I would certainly explore your options if going to Charlevoix... But then again.. it is Charlevoix and this may be the Four Seasons equivalent.
