The Colonial Inn Hotel is a "limited service" 42 room summer hotel in an historic inn (1894), but not a bed and breakfast. Expect gorgeous rooms with far more charm than a "Holiday Inn." Continental breakfast on the porch or in our charming breakfast room. Cozy up to a real gas fireplace, which is featured in some of our rooms.
Your family will enjoy our swimming pool, indoor spa and fitness room. A dock on Lake Michigan offers easy access to the waterfront. Our porches and balconies overlook spacious grounds and provide a perfect location for your summer vacation in this exclusive resort destination. Read a book, have a cocktail, or just relax on your porch or balcony while watching your children play on our spacious grounds, or swim in our pool.

We enjoyed our large room with a fire place..its old and quaint . Area is beautiful! right next to gorgeous lake michigan. small breakfast included. good coffee .. Harbor Springs is great for shopping.. farmers market.. good food .. tunnel of tree drive is wonderful.
Maybe could use a handyman to tidy up the buildings a touch ... noticeable but easily fixable areas of age and weather but otherwise Just Right! 4.5 Stars 🌟

I can't say enough good things about the Colonial Inn. I HIGHLY recommend it. We recently stayed two nights here. The staff are wonderful, the room was clean and all the beautiful photos on their Website is exactly how it looks. One block away is their pier with a gorgeous view of the bay. It's close to the marina and downtown and all the area attractions. The wonderful breakfasts, in-room jaccuzi, fireplace and balcony were the icing on the cake. Thank you so much for making our birthday getaway unforgettable. We will be back! ❤

What a wonderful place to stay. Our travel soccer team stayed there over the weekend. The staff were amazing considering having 16 boys running around. Staff even had breakfast ready for our team before serving time because of an early game. Rooms had plenty of space and can't beat being right next to the water.

We loved the quaint charm of the Colonial Inn in Harbor Springs, MI. It is so cheery! We stayed in room #8 which had a large room with a king & queen-sized beds. Our room had a fireplace & refrigerator (no microwave). There is a nearby pool with lots of seating & small gym area. An outdoor grill is available. The dining room is in the main building with seating inside & outside. The breakfast was delicious with many items. You won't leave hungry! Everyone was helpful & very friendly. We love the lakeshore town & would definitely return to the Colonial Inn.

Great hotel. It's very clean and well maintained. It is a very old building so it seems outdated but the historic side of it adds to the charm. It's also very close to Lake Michigan. A short walk will get you to a beach and a short drive will get you to downtown harbor springs. The breakfast could have been a little better but it wasn't bad for the price. I would definitely stay again if ever in the area.

Charm just oozes out of this place. From the green striped awning and geraniums lining the entrance, to the charming decor reminiscent of the 80's. The hospitality is top notch. Friendly welcome behind a Covid prohibiting plexiglass shield. Breakfast is laid out in the dining room with gloves provided. Masks required and individual servings make it feel clean and safe. Rooms are clean and the fireplace adds the perfect ambiance. Price is so reasonable for all this and this place shouldn't be missed. I hate to post this review because I want to keep this hidden gem to myself. But go. You

Looks way better online. We stayed 3 nights and each day it seemed like the quality of cleaning got worse. Our beds looked like they were made by a toddler or not made at all, bugs under the bed frame, hard mattresses and overall needs a little interior love.
Would not recommend unless you have no other options.

I can really just say nice things about this inn. Nice staff with clean comfortable rooms. It's not your high end hotel so don't expect it. Our room was a bit odd shaped with comfortable beds, a flat screened tv and baseboard heat. It had a nice little porch to sit outside. Breakfast came with the room and it was good and fresh. Eggs with bacon and sausage. Cereal, muffins, yogurt, fruit and coffee to top it off. Perfect kind of place in a Hallmark movie....

The best thing about this hotel was its walkable location to Harbor Springs.
The less favorable:
Stained bed sheets
Hair and fur on the furniture in our room
Dirty window tracks and corners in the room
Dust under the bed and other furniture
Several of the chairs by the pool were ripped or broken
The included breakfast was horrible- we went out
The walls were very thin, we heard every move of our neighbors and the people above us.
Not worth the money

What a refreshingly professional and wonderful experience, start to finish. From the first phone call to make the reservation to check out, the Colonial Inn was fantastic. Very friendly, knowledgeable, hardworking staff. The location is great- within walking distance to shops and the beach. The hotel is clean, very cozy and traditional, with updated and comfortable rooms. Parking is very convenient and the breakfast is fabulous. Hotel breakfasts are often skimpy with limited seating. This was a clean, well-appointed and stocked buffet with ample seating and staff constantly refilling and

Found this little gem last minute on a road trip. They had 1 room left and Brandon, at the front desk, was so kind and saved it for us and added a nice discount. He was extremely friendly and the room was just amazing! HUGE jacuzzi tub and a fireplace, balcony with French doors that overlooks their beautifully landscaped grounds, also the rooms were very clean and comforting. I will definitely be coming back to stay again sometime.

My fiancé and I stayed here over July 4th weekend. The first room we got was unacceptable, but the staff quickly put us in a nicer room, which made the rest of our stay great. The staff was attentive, helpful, and understanding throughout our stay, which likely one of their busiest weeks of the year. Also, the Inn's location is fantastic. Breakfast is mediocre, but it's commensurate with the price paid. I would recommend the Colonial Inn!

We have been vacationing in northern Michigan, specifically Harbor Springs and Petoskey my whole life (50+ years) but never stayed at the Colonial Inn until last night. Great place! Go there. Reminded me of family homes growing up. It was quiet, quaint, and so well kept. Less than a half block to the water and just a few blocks from town. We had bikes so we rode back-and-forth from town and to Toms Moms which is another 5 stars by itself.
Brian gave us a run down on the history and answered all our questions. He was completely knowledgeable and friendly and genuinely loved his job.

We stayed for 5 nights...2 for a local work event and the rest for a long weekend vacation. This Inn will never be a 5 star but could be a solid 4 if it wasn't for obvious complacency. They seem to be fully booked during the season and clearly happy with that. Pluses and minuses ...the renovated room we stay in was nice and kept with the style of the Inn. The room is missing simple things like an iron and an air conditioner that actually cools the room it's in. It would also help if the balcony doors closed! The location is probably the best asset...thus the 3 stars...walking to downtown

Fantastic place to stay in Harbor Springs! This was my second time staying at the Colonial Inn and both times have been wonderful. The room was very comfortable with the best mattresses. All the staff are exceptional. Brian especially made sure to host us and ensure our stay was enjoyable. He would always take time to chat with us even though he was extremely busy. We really enjoyed getting to know him! Rebecca and Alex were also very friendly and helpful. The owner was gregarious and happy to talk about the history of the hotel and the area. They were very responsive to any needs and

What a refreshing place to stay !! The room was quaint and very comfortable. Very comfortable beds, large bath area, plenty of soft towels and French doors out over a courtyard. Very compreable price to the cookie cutter motels in Petosky. Easy walking through amazing homes to business area of Harbor Springs. The continental breakfast, run of the mill. We will be back

Cute simple rooms, close to the water & downtown Harbor Springs. No elevator or help to get your luggage to the second floor, nor was that mentioned when I called to make a reservation. The lobby is adorably decorated. Still someone should've run a dust rag along the ledge up the stairs, it would only take a second. The white painted walls only attract more attention to the dust. Our private balcony didn't look like it had been swept or cleaned all summer. The bathroom was clean. The sheets had a hole in them & there were cobwebs in the corner of the room. The night stand

We stayed at Colonial Inn because they seemed to be the only place in town where you didn't have to stay two nights in a row to book. Their website could us an update in regards to design. It appeared the most information from the website while booking was on the memoir the owner wrote, shameless plug, sure? A bit tacky and taking away from the inn information itself, yes! The memoir was also plastered around the inn when we got there...again I don't think it is needed?

Nice location, rooms are pretty comfortable, but make sure if you're going to shower--shower early or late. Prime time showering was lukewarm at best. The rooms also don't have irons much to our dismay, but they are available at the main office. And the nightly rates were comparable to the surrounding area.
Our biggest gripe was actually the continental breakfast. Sure, it's "free" but the coffee was very poor quality, watered down, and the big ticket item is a waffle. No eggs. No meat of any kind. And there is only one waffle maker to boot. 3 minutes to make

Very clean hotel. The lady at the front desk was very friendly and helpful. She pointed us towards the good food and beaches. Our room was small with two full beds but so nice! The shower had about 4 different settings. Pool and hot tub were across the street. The hot tub is indoors so it was a nice and quiet place to relax after the day! Very nice hotel.
