Each DPW Home Inspection is a thorough examination and report on all components and integral systems of your home. Inspections are performed according to Massachusetts' Standards of Practice and ASHI's Standards of Practice and Code of Ethics. Peter did an amazing job inspecting my future house 3 years ago, so I immediately went to look him up again when I was in the process of buying a new house. Once again, he more than surpassed my high expectations - he was incredibly thorough and knowledgable, and patiently explained everything he was observing, and answered all my questions. He also noted which things should be done right away, and which things were technically problems, but were less urgent. His incredibly detailed report was very helpful. I cannot say enough good things about my experience with Peter Johnson of DPW Home Inspections. In fact, this is the second time I requested his services, after having such a positive experience in a previous home inspection. DPW is professional, responsive, and knowledgeable. Peter took the time to know enough about things that are outside of carpentry, his main work, to give an extremely thorough home inspection. His report is easy to read, be provides pictures, and is detailed. I highly recommend going to the inspection with him, he is able and willing to explain things in a way that is easy to understand. He pointed out everything, and I mean EVERYTHING that I could possibly want to know, but did so with enough context that I could make informed, low stress decisions about what was important and what wasn't. His reports are full of information about not only what was wrong, but why it was wrong and what the problems could be if issues were left unfixed.
I know that report will be a huge asset to me as I repair and move into my new home.
I would absolutely recommend him to other first time buyers.

Peter was great to work with. As a first-time buyer I had a ton of questions and he was more than happy to answer them, and explain things I didn't think to ask. He was good about giving guidance about what I might expect to see in the next year, five years, etc. His report afterward was comprehensive, well-organized, and with great photos -- I'm sure I'll be referring back to it for projects for a while!

Peter is fantastic. He did our home inspection in Weston and was extremely thoughtful, thorough and prompt. He accommodated our timeline, issued his full report the same day as the inspection, and was available for follow up questions without any delay. Peter does a thorough home inspection based on his years building houses. I have used Peter 2 times, once for a house built in 1850 and once for a house built in 1933. In both cases, Peter was familiar with even the most obsque systems. On top of all that, he is very down to earth and practical. Peter is happy to answer any follow up questions either on the spot or later by phone. His reports are extraordinarily detailed including pictures and recommendations. I would not hesitate to use him again.

We hired Peter for a home inspection on a home that is approximately 28 yo. Peter did a very thorough job explaining deficiencies but also noted the good aspects of the house. He was not alarmist. He noted items that were out of code or presented safety issues. He also brings along an infrared camera which can identify prior water leaks, poor or missing insulation. Peter's fees are competitive and fair for what you get.
I definitely recommend Peter for home inspections and would use him again.
