This place has the most delicious Italian food, hands down. I ordered their panettone last year and it was the best I've ever had. We ordered their pizza tonight and it was phenomenal.
To add icing to the cake, the people who run it are so accommodating and professional. I don't have one negative thing to say about this business. What a treasure to have them in San Diego. They've definitely earned another loyal customer.

Max and Elisa are simply amazing! They have catered both to my husband and I and our hotel with 5 star elegant, delicious and refined cuisine and have always gone out of their way to be so responsive, professional and simply wonderful. I highly recommend them for your day to day private chef needs, weddings and events as there is simply nothing close to their level of expertise, divine food and service.

It’s difficult to find specific Italian cakes in US because they are not well known and hard to make but Zafferano made my request possible and exceeded my expectations.
I needed a Babà cake for the birthday of my uncle that is originally from Napoli, southern Italy.
The babà is not on their menu but they told me right away that would not be a problem and that they were happy to help me.
When I went to pick up the cake I was so surprised by its beauty. The cake was so delicious and fresh, you really could see the quality

Max did the catering for our small family wedding reception and everything about it was perfect! He did a 5 course meal for us and each course was better than the last. Max helped us put together a menu based on what we liked and every single thing was amazing. Him and his team's professionalism, attention to detail, and focus on delivering the best possible meal is what made the night outstanding. I would highly recommend Zafferano Catering to anyone looking for a homey yet upscale Italian meal.

One of the best “take-out” dinners in San Diego! What a treat to enjoy a delicious dinner of Eggplant Parmigiana, Tortellini (Pana, prosciutto e piselli) and short ribs. Everything was prepared perfectly - as if Max had been cooking just for us. Sauces were delicious, meat tender, pasta was delicate. Very special - A lovely meal.

I first tasted their delicious food at Gianni Buonomo Vintners in Ocean Beach for one of their releases. Max's team prepared courses to match the wines. But now in this crazy time Zafferano's has pivoted to - take away and delivery items. I ordered the Eggplant Parmigiana, it was delicious! Bonus cookies were tasty. Easy to order on-line and schedule your pick up time.

Planning a party is difficult enough - but then you have to worry about the food! You need multiple options to appease all your guests, but won't have time to set up, serve, and entertain! Chef Max will help… make your party a success! Everyone loves Italian food - and his dishes are simple and well-made, with options for everyone! He was great at communicating, and helped deliver and set up his creations. Our family and friends enjoyed fresh caprese salad, bruschetta, meatballs, pastas and more! I would highly recommend using Zafferano Catering for your next event.

I attended a cooking class conducted by Max Farina of Zafferano Catering. What a fun experience! Max did a great job of sharing the history of the dishes we made, showed us some great tips, fed us a wonderful meal and was an all around gracious host. I've also attended larger dinners catered by his team that were delicious and well presented. I highly recommend Max and his team for your event, large or small.
