Was told my unit would be similar or identical to the unit in the virtual tour, and this is what they considered identical or similar. They have no problems lying to your face. And what are they doing about it? Absolutely nothing yet. Almost every time I tried to call the office they said the leasing manager is out and busy. Strongly recommend not wasting your time and money, the wood kitchen reeks of rotten garlic and onion, oh well maybe it’s because there’s food sitting in the back of the rotting cabinets no one cared to clean up before you moved in...

Great apartment with great location and great staff! Apartment is also very well-kept and I haven’t had any issues. They are also very prompt when it comes to maintenance requests.
I am an MSU student who lived in Brody Neighborhood my first two years. I liked The Oaks because it’s right near Brody — it’s very close to the Breslin Center and Spartan Stadium. Would definitely recommend this place!

My son rented an apartment for two years while attending MSU. He liked it that much. Plenty of amenities (pool, meeting spaces, laundry, work out room, parking, security, etc.). I always believed he was safe while living in this complex.
COVID hit and my son decided to graduate early. Our lease commitment extended us for another eight months beyond his graduation date. I was able to sublease the apartment and worked with the property management team to get the logistics and paperwork properly in place. A HUGE shout out to Matthew Berry for being responsive, understanding and accommodating. He

The management of these apartments are extremely rude and unprofessional. It is very CLEAR that both The Oaks and DTN do not care about the residents. They are a money hungry company that take advantage of students, especially during these confusing times. They do not offer help nor sympathy. The staff members have a rude and condescending attitude.
To The Oaks & DTN:
Do not bother responding with a meaningless "copy and paste" response. Respond with action and change, because I will not accept anything less than that. Your website states "Our professional on-site staff is dedicated to serving

Apartment did not appear to be cleaned upon move in, with hair all over the bathroom floor and crumbs on the kitchen floor. I’ve had to file maintenance requests almost every month, mostly for both the air conditioners in my apartment. The one on the third floor was broken for weeks and we had to file several maintenance requests before the problem was fixed as it seemed they forgot about us. The one on the fourth floor leaked all over my carpet and is absolutely FILTHY inside. The smell is horrible sometimes. If you plan on using the gym, count on only one of the three treadmills to work. They

Fire alarm goes off almost weekly and takes over an hour to be turned off.
Appliances in my apartment were very aged, and would break often. The maintenance people would arrive when you need them, however most "fixed" things would break within a day or two. I don't know if this reflects the quality of the appliances of the quality of those fixing them. The Climate control units (heat and AC) seem to be the worst offenders, and seem like they are holdovers from the building's history as a hotel. They are not effective or efficient at heating or cooling the apartments. My drains and toilets also

Spacious apartment, lots of storage. Maintenance is quick to come fix anything needed. Izzy in the leasing office was super helpful with move in and always helps when we have questions!

There are a handful of private landlords in the area, and MSU has the capability to house students via the dorms. I would recommend looking into those options long before I’d recommend dealing with DTN. Over the course of my time renting through DTN, management was responsible for the following:
-Despite two separate warnings where we asked them to take a look, DTN let a tree fall on the house we were living in, rendering the home uninhabitable for two full days with no reimbursement for the rent we paid. The tree also damaged one of the cars in our driveway
-Was MONTHS late on giving a response

Horrible. Just stay away from this place. Have subleased a room in this complex. The moment that I moved in, I noticed that AC (in the humid summer of michigan) doesnt work and the bathtub is clogged. It has been two weeks that, EVERYDAY (I emphasize EVERYDAY) I stop by the office, begging that please fix these issues. Two weeks passed and they dont even bother to fix it. Just stay away.
