Ashtanga yoga is a daily method of yoga that involves synchronizing the breath with a progressive series of postures. This process generates internal heat which detoxifies and purifies the muscles and organs. The results are improved circulation, a stronger and more flexible body and a calm mind.

It's not rocket science. We all know what we need to do. Eat right, exercise, get our annual blood checked, and have a nice life, right? Well, that worked in the 80's, but we know so much more now. Are you ready to join the fun on the slopes? We are back at it this coming winter! We'll be leading a group of amazing people through yoga, fitness, mindfulness, healthy eating, and more! I have been practicing yoga on and off the mat for more than three decades. I practice yoga because I am a much better wife, mother, teacher & friend when I get the physical, mental, and emotional release that yoga offers. Breathing deeply helps me remain calm and centered reducing my reactionary impulses and practicing ahimsa (non-harming) helps me be a more compassionate human.
I started my full time yoga teaching experience at Santa Monica Power Yoga, but I've worked and taught all over. My background in somatics and tantra, as well as my clinical background and education in mental health and wellness has been part of the journey as well. I am endlessly grateful for movement, breath, empowerment, embodiment and of course the gift of community and collective transformation.

My favorite local yoga studio! Ted's classes are fun, yet challenging. I like his yoga flow for the warm-up and the variety of standing poses for strength and focus. He also has a great playlist of music that varies with each class. The environment is friendly, clean, bright and open. Ted always has good stories to share, too! He is a great resource for health and wellness information.

Philipp is the best kept yoga secret in Malibu! I love his class because I always learn something new since Philipp is always learning something new from the yoga greats. I've been practicing for over 25 years with some of the best, and it's still extraordinary to find a teacher like that. Even when the class is full, I feel the personal attention. Thanks and big shout out to Byron for being our loving yoga ambassador!

I love this place! The studio is beautiful and the staff is always very friendly. I love Ted's class but have tried other instructors at times when Ted wasn't there and loved them all. I love the fact that Ted is an athlete and not just a yoga instructor because he knows what athletes need in terms of stretching and healing your body after a triathlon, marathon or just a workout that has made your muscles sore. I highly recommend 5 Point Yoga even if you don't live in Malibu. I live in Calabasas and I drive out to Malibu just for his class.

Dropped in with a bunch of girlfriends during a trip to Malibu, and we were welcomed with open arms. I felt bad because we were clearly crowding the room which was filled with regulars on a Saturday morning, but they were nice about scooting their mats to make space for us. The instructor, a guy whose name I can't recall, was fantastic. Great vibe, helpful, inspirational, good music. At one point his baby daughter crawled through the room which was adorable. I also loved how one of the students brought his super well-behaved dog to just chill in the corner in her bed. A real community feel

This yoga studio is simply amazing. Friendly staff from the minute you walk in. Very warm and inviting !!
I travel worldwide for work. I have traveled to many different studios. These instructors (especially Ted McDonald) are amazing. The relaxed atmosphere is so inviting. Great location and a bargain for the price. And , if you get a chance, definitely take Teds class. He is the best yoga instructor I have ever encountered. His private sessions are also worth the money of you are so inclined.
If you are looking for the premier yoga experience , Ted & 5 Point Yoga are simply the best!

5 Point Yoga has great service with a number of class options. The yoga teachers are always really helpful, and each class has something different to offer. The classes are a bit pricey, but the classes are great and the studio is amazing. Additionally, they have been known to give great deals and student discounts.

I love this yoga studio. And when I am at other yoga studios in nor cal I often wish I was back at 5 points. This is such a wonderful addition to the Malibu Country Mart because it's a place not focused on consumerism and it breeds community!
The 5 points it's named after are mental wellness, physical fitness, nutrition, community and environment. Environment?! How exciting for this tree hugging chick.

When I walk in I am always greeted by smiling faces at the desk and teachers that are excited to teach their class. The space itself is open, light, airy, & always clean

Met a friend here a couple of weeks ago to get some yoga in before brunch at Habana. Ended up LOVING the place. I believe our instructor was Brigitte. It was a challenging class and she was very attentive and hands on when needed. We were doing some challenging poses and she was always there when I was having a tough time.
I was surprised by her choice in music. It was not your typical yoga flavor. Strangely, that was okay. She pulled it off well.
The yoga studio is large enough for the class size and look out on the beautiful SM Mountain range. Considering how close this place is to

For someone who is not a yoga instructor in training, I've probably been to more yoga studios in the L.A. area than anyone I know thanks to moving around, driving too much, and a curiosity to find the perfect studio. And I'll venture say that 5 Point Yoga is one of the best studios I've ever been to. The studio itself is gorgeous, with it's tall, arching windows giving an unobstructed view of the Santa Monica mountains. Thanks to sunlight and good design, there is a spacious and airy feeling in this second-floor studio that you just don't get with most studios. For anyone
