The Farmland is Wakefield, Massachusetts' locally-known, family run supermarket established by Giulio Pellegrini in 1978.

Since that time, the entire Pellegrini family has been heavily involved in the business. At any time you could come in and see Giulio's wife, Maria, working in the kitchen or the two sons, Mino and Frank, setting up produce or working behind the deli counter or Cathy behind the register.
Services
At The Farmland, we offer a wide variety of fresh and prepared foods, hot or cold; fresh produce; fresh-baked goods of all kinds; catering for your special occasions or just to let you take it a bit easier; and a well-rounded stock of domestic and Italian imported groceries and canned goods to make it easy for you to create your own favorite dishes with that European flair.
The Farmland Meat and Seafood department is locally known for catering to our customers' needs. We strive to bring our customers the highest quality meats and seafood. Our seafood arrives fresh six days a week and our beef is delivered daily. We use only premium choice cuts of beef and it is not uncommon for our butcher to be cutting fresh steaks and seafood all day long.
Our produce team is as experienced as they come! From 1978, we have striven to give our customers the freshest produce available. Our head buyer and part owner, Mino Pellegrini grew up in the business. Starting when he was only 14, he has been here since day one and has over 30 years experience. Every weekday he leads our team of produce buyers by getting up before dawn in order to be the first at the Produce Market.
Want to repay someone for a thoughtful deed? Have someone in mind that would appreciate a generous portion of fruits, cheeses and crackers, all displayed in a beautiful basket? At The Farmland we've been making quality fruit baskets since we opened in 1978. Our formula for making great baskets is easy: We select our freshest produce and products and arrange them artistically into a great looking basket!
Our Farmland Deli is the place to go for custom Italian specialties, an assortment of salads*, sub sandwiches**, calzones, and an impressive line of cold cuts. Just like our Meat and Seafood department, we only buy the highest quality products available. In our deli, we bring the delectable smells and tastes of Italy to your table with imported specialties like prosciutto imported from Parma, Italy.

This my go-to source for excellent quality produce, meats, and cheeses. The selection is unbeatable for a compact and readily-accessible market. It's easy in and easy out ... so convenient with helpful and knowledgeable staff, particularly the deli/meat counter. For everyday foods or special events like parties and holiday feasts, it's Farmland for delicious results!

Farmland is my go to for a calzones And Sicilian style pizza! by far the best calzones in the area! Brought them to a Christmas Eve party and everyone of them. Steak n cheese so good, Chicken cutlet Parm packed with chicken and the Italian delicious. They are not stingy at all with their fillings very nicely packed. Will be ordering more for New Year's Eve ,sad to see some of the poor reviews I think farmland has a great selection for take out/catering. Always my go to!!

I Ordered a cheese & cracker platter for a graduation party and the crackers were soggy and uneatable. Highly recommend crackers should come separately so they are fresh and crispy. I called to bring this to the catering dept. and nothing was offered.

I have gone to Farmland and usually bought prepared meals like Lasagna etc

But the last two times I bought the Broccoli Chicken and Pasta yesterday I discovered there was only one little piece of chicken amongst a ton of penne

Also I ordered the stuffed peppers for someone else and there was only a scant amount of meat in the stuffing

I understand the prices are the best around here but they either need to do a better job with their products or charge higher prices and include the right amount of ingredients to satisfy the customer

We're new in town and have gone to the deli now twice. Both times were a bit odd in terms of a hostile/grumpy vibe from staff and just ok food that was a bit on the pricy side. They got my order wrong today and it just wasn't worth having it remade as my husband and I had already gotten a bit of a weird vibe from the guy behind the counter (walking off in the middle of our order without us finishing our sentence, handing us wrong item and saying that's what we ordered).

I had a hard day . Went to the Farmland ordered a Meatball Calzone and a half of Steak and Cheese Calzone... I called to tell the manager "Frank" to tell him I got the wrong order with the right label.I do not live near the establishment I didn't want anything for free but I was looking for a little acknowledgment .... I got neither Just the brush off and the disgusting look of something I don't like and didn't order...I will never be back because of lack of customer support... I wish the Farmland luck but the luck will be without support from me............

I stopped in here because I drove by and it looked like it might be good. I was pleasantly surprised when I walked in. The vegetables were extremely fresh, the bakery fantastic and the prices were very reasonable. I will definitely be back.

Prior to Covid-19, we shopped here for bakery items or something we forgot at Market Basket. Since March, I've been doing all my weekly shopping at Farmland. The convenience is worth a little extra money. In addition, it's as if they're reading my mind and stocking new items: Multigrain Cheerios, big tub of cream cheese. Love their bread, meats good. Unless they really screw up, I will continue to shop at Farmland after the pandemic passes. I gave only 4 stars because a couple of the cashiers don't say thank you when I bag all my own groceries. Not a deal breaker, though.

Love Farmland
Great food
The very best calzones on the planet
Italian subs are fantastic
Teriyaki steak tips are a weekly meal
Fruit and veggies are perfect
That was my post last time but things have change. The Italian sub has become just like all the others "just ok" less meat more money

Next it will be the calzones. Such a shame

Over the past dozen years since moving here I've come to Farmland for bakery items, deli items, and occasional produce. I have noticed over the past year they've been on a downward spiral, and this weekend will definitely be my last visit.

On Saturday, July 6, late afternoon, I went in and purchased a pound of cole slaw, a pound of orzo salad, a bucket of 'fresh cut' fruit salad, a bunch of bananas that still seemed to have some green on them, and some cherry tomatoes. In addition, I purchased hot dog ad hamburger rolls and two bottles of Diet Coke.

I'll give credit

I am glad to have a small independent grocery store near my house, BUT, the cashiers are borderline hostile. No smile, no hello, no thank you. And throwing my food into the bag doesn't help either.

Does management care? I'm guessing they are all family so they either look the other way or don't see it as a problem, but they seem determined to drive customers away. I hear this complaint from almost everyone I talk to once Farmland comes up in conversation.

Now I only go there when I'm truly short on time and I need just a few items.

What else to say about farmland than always the best!! I have been shopping for and buying food here for over 20 years and I am never disappointed. The deli and bakery are fabulous! I have known many people who have gotten catering trays for parties and they always taste great and look impressive. This week for the Super Bowl I finally got my own and couldn't have been more impressed. I ordered half trays based on the number of people that were coming and to my surprise upon pick up what I thought were full trays turned out to be the half ones I ordered. Plenty of food for great money and

Quality of food has gotten progressively worse over the years but somehow, the prices remain consistent with competition. Staff (from cashiers to deli workers) are always rude and unpleasant. I really don't need to spend my money on a place that doesn't appreciate my business. I recommend going to J. Pace in Saugus for better EVERYTHING and to save yourself some disappointment.

Very disappointed, I've been going to Farmland since moving to Wakefield 15 yrs ago and this place was my go to for subs and quick grocery grabs but the last year I've been completely turned off. The last two times I got a sandwich the roll was stale, not simply well done but hard and dry the hole way through on the ends. I kind of let slide the first time because s**t happens but twice is a pattern. The last straw for me was yesterday when my wife stopped in to buy Quik strawberry milk powder for our 3yr old. Got it home, my daughter opened it and said it smelled funny, which it did

Just ordered a turkey sub for lunch. The bread was stale, the turkey was incredibly salty and for $6.25, I will never order another sub from there. The quality of their food is just mediocre. Smarten up people, there are better places to shop, such as Whole Foods or your local supermarket.
