In 1989 I took up a position with Christie's Jewelry Department on Park Avenue where I provided Diamond, Antique & Estate Jewelry Appraisal, Estimates & Condition Reports.
In 1993, I established my own jewelry appraisal business in NYC. As an active Diamond, Antique & Estate Jewelry Appraiser, it is my responsibility to give clients the professional, impartial and non-biased information they need to know. I would recommend Mark Bunda also. If you like, you could have the vendor send the stone to him and he can check it before you put any money into it.

Mr. Bunda was able to help me on short notice with a fast, thorough appraisal. Everything happened right before my eyes, from the physical examination of the stone, to the writing and sending of the appraisal as a pdf, which I received as an email before leaving. Amazing place, i have bought many pieces from yuri, a couple watches and many custom made pendants and rings. he always gave me the best customer service, made sure all the details were correct before continuing onto the next process. The prices were extremely fair as i am the type of shopper to ask every store their price before choosing a final place to purchase. The center of all things that shine with most amazing staff taking care of clients like family. I have made multiple purchases at NYC Diamond District and was always treated at the highest level. Over the years I bought a Diamond, an Engagement ring, couple of anniversary bands, pair of studs and a bangle. The quality is always incredible, ton of variety for any occasion and the service is impeccable.

I would like to start off by saying- I was in a rush to get an expensive watch appraised so I could get it insured. Of course, most jewelers in the midtown area/ diamond district are a little dodgy. So the first thing I did was search for "Best jewelry appraisers in NYC" and Robert Bunda was at the top of the list.
I made a quick call to him, discussed times he was available, and before I knew it, I was on the books! He even offered to text me the instructions on how to get to his office (it is quite complicated since it's in Grand Central Terminal!).

I found BJA on the National Association of Jewelry Appraisers website.
We met within 24 hrs of my initial outreach and after an hour and a half of a thorough examination of the one piece that we had bought at auction, we were relieved to hear we had not overpaid!
The second part of our appraisal was for insurance purposes, for which we received a detailed written appraisal by email, which made it easy to forward to our agent for coverage.
All in all the service was delivered in a very timely and cost effective way.
