Family Optometry Of Irvine

I went here in the beginning of 2021 for a vision exam and frames/lenses. I was told my glasses would take 3 weeks. After 3 months and not receiving my glasses, I asked them to cancel the order. I'd call frequently and was told "a few more weeks." It was time consuming & frustrating. I just went to fill my prescription and was told that my benefit was used by Family Optometry, so they never let vsp know that my glasses were not filled. When I contacted VSP, they said the provider needed to fix the issue. The VSP rep even tried calling twice & was sent to voicemail both times

This is an update of my previous review awhile ago, and is no way a reflection of the personal service provided by Dr. Jenny.

I was debating how many stars to take away (torn between one or two stars) for how the BUSINESS itself is currently operating. I've been trying to schedule an appointment for an eye exam, but have been unable to do so. I've tried calling a couple times, but no one answers the phone (wasn't on Wed when they are closed). I understand its COVID time, so perhaps they lost their receptionist.

I scheduled an eye exam for my fiancé and myself 2 months ago for today since this was the soonest we could be seen. We requested time off work and everything. Not until 2 days ago when filling out my new patient paperwork digitally I read that there is a NON OPTIONAL procedure and the fee is $39 for each of us in addition to our co-pays. Had I been told when booking the appointments, I probably would have agreed to pay it and continue with scheduling the appointments but I do not agree with surprise fees. I have never been to a medical establishment that cares so much. I literally texted a friend how I feel like I'm treated like family here. I decided to get LASIK and I would come to Family Optometry for my pre and post-op appointments. The day of the surgery I woke up with the worst migraine and didn't know if I was able to take Advil. I emailed Dr. Susan at 5:30am asking if I can and she called the facility to confirm for me! Super friendly staff and GREAT experience with the Dr.

I've had my eyes checked at UCI medical center and never once had any Dr.' s there informed me on how my overall health was slightly showing inclusions on my eye balls!

I am beyond appreciative with the Dr.'s concerns and it took me at awe.

Though they may not have a huge selection for eye glasses on site, the attention to all things eye health is extremely more valuable. This will be my family's new destination for eye health.

Usually don't like to leave bad reviews but called to make an eye appointment for my son as a new patient and got directed to the voicemail since it was Wed, Sept 8, and the office was closed that day. One usually expects a call back the next business day. Someone did eventually call back, but not until Tuesday of the following week, as I was helping my daughter move into her dorm (thats how I remembered it was that Tuesday they had called back). Told the person I had called almost 5 days ago and no one called me back so I made an appointment elsewhere. In which she replied "ok"

I highly recommend this place. From the front office staff to the Dr. They were extremely professional and efficient. Dr Jenny was my doctor and was extremely attentive and answered any of my questions. She found a retinal hole and asked me to go to specialist right away. Referrals take a long time but she called my insurance herself and got me an appointment the next day. The retinal specialist told me I needed laser surgery right away so I'm glad that Dr Jenny caught it. I'm extremely thankful for her too as she follows up and really cares about you. Very professional optometrist office! From the initial tests and thorough explanations of exactly what to expect at every step of my eye exam, to the full and thoughtful eye exam with Dr. Jenny, my visit was outstanding! Highly recommend this clean and professional office.

When you walk in you are greeted by the front staff. Everything is clean and sanitized.

From there someone will walk you in and do a series of eye tests with machines, they're very quick yet very useful. Eye health is about more than a prescription alone, and these tests help to gauge where your eye health is and if there's any issues (like astigmatism). From there they put you in another room to wait for the doctor. I did not wait long at all to see the doctor. She was very friendly and took her time. It appeared that I was more than just another

Love the special care and time that Dr Jenny and her staff give to their clients. We've been going here for many years and service is always attentive and on par.

Dr.Kim is absolutely the best I have seen so far. She is so interested in finding out the correct prescription that she spends a lot of time validating all aspects. Also she spends time explaining things.

When our 18month old needed some eyewear, we turned to the best source we knew. Dr. Susan has a professional approach and a knack for handling special needs pediatrics cases. She gave our young daughter the best suggestions for proper fit and function. She helped save our daughter's vision and for that we are eternally grateful!

We've been driving all the way to Rowland heights for optometry appointments for years. Finally decided to try to find a place closer to home, and are we glad we did! Dr. Jenny Kim-Ong was extremely thorough with the exam for my teenage son and made sure he was comfortable with trying contacts for the first time. They also gave him several types of contacts to try, and set up a follow up appointment to check on his trial contacts, so we could make an educated decision as to which type he would go with. We have been coming to this establishment for 8 years and it’s never disappointed us one bit! My wife and kids both wear glasses and every time we need updates or replacement, they’re always there to help. Shout to the staff up front and the doctors! Very professional and always with a smile! Highly recommend these folks to anyone in the area getting their glasses on

Got a wrong prescription from Kaiser opto department. Dr. Kim at Family Optometry got the correct one for sure. The doctors here are all great spending enough time, going over details, being professional and passionate. Highly recommend.

Dr. Shah is my favorite. I'm glad I have found an eye doctor that makes me feel comfortable and I can trust. Thanks for fitting me in!

Their customer service is excellent. No rush visit. Doctors are very thorough. Friendly staff. Glad I switched my entire family overover to them.

Wow, awesome! Walked in just to get an eyeglass screw, and Liz promptly took my glasses in the back and fixed them for me, no charge! I didn't mention that my husband is a customer or anything. They just repaired them to provide great service. So friendly and nice too.
And I love their Saturday hours too! I tried one other optometrist office first, and they were closed.

I first was connected to this optometrist by a friend and met with Dr. Jenny Kim for a check-up and eye exam. She was extremely knowledgeable, helpful, and answered questions thoroughly. She even explained why carrots and dark green vegetables preserve the health of the eyes in the long run. The staff was friendly and welcoming. I had a great experience. 5/5
