Dr. Hoang was born and raised in Long Beach, California. She graduated from Long Beach Polytechnic High School in 2002. In 2010, she graduated from UCLA with a Bachelor's degree in Biophysics. She went on to receive a Doctorate of Optometry from Western University of Health Sciences in 2015.
Dr. Hoang has participated in medical mission trips to Vietnam, Phillippines, Mexico, and Peru, providing vision services, exams, medication, and screenings to locals and orphanages.Dr. Hoang aims to provide you with friendly and quality eye care services. Along with checking you vision, the comprehensive eye exam includes checking the complete health of the eye using the latest Topcon equipment. Refraction is done with a digital automated phoropter. Glaucoma Screening - We check your eye pressures using the latest iCare digital tonometer (no eye drops or air puffs!).
Dr. Hoang provides contact lens services for patients with/without astigmatism. She can also fit multi-focal and monovision contact lenses. Dr. Hoang has experience in fitting RGP and scleral contacts for diseases like keratoconus and corneal ectasia. She is a firm believer in slowing the progression of myopia with orthokeratology, or ortho-k.
As a Co-Managing Affiliate with Coastal Vision and NVISION (formerly TLC), she can perform pre- and post-op visits for lasik and cataract surgeries. LASIK (Laser-Assisted In Situ Keratomileusis) is a vision correction procedure used to correct most ranges of nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism.
Medical eye appointments can be made for monitoring for macular degeneration, diabetic or hypertensive retinopathy, glaucoma, or medical emergencies like flashes, floaters, eye strain/ headaches, vision loss, sudden blur or red eye. If you have macular degeneration, your eyes should be monitored at least anually; if not, more often.

Extremely detailed examination with efficiency and human touch. I'm new to the area from LA and had to walk into three different optometrist offices before meeting Dr Hoang and her staff. Thrilled to have a reliable professional. Eye and contact exam plus 6 months supply of contacts (and some great freebies like solution) made this visit a very pleasant and peace of mind experience. I'll have new contacts before an upcoming honeymoon! Thank you!

I rarely post reviews, but I will when I meet an outstanding professional. My wife first visited CVS and Dr Hoang for convenience due to its location. I was very skeptical as to whether this would turn out well. She gave me a phenomenal report on how well it went and how well-equipped the facility was with the latest technology and frankly just how well she could see during the examination and with the contact lenses she subsequently received.

I had not had an eye exam in over ten years, and I would say that my experience with Mary was a very enjoyable and informative one. She was very kind and well spoken, and thoroughly explained in a concise manner what each machine did. I just received the pair of glasses today, and I want to say that I am very impressed. My vision is now better than 20/20 and I think it is 20/15 now. I can see so clearly and my astigmatism is no longer a worry. Thanks Mary, keep up the great work!

I definitely recommend a visit to Mary Kim Hoang.
I drove over an hour to see Dr. Hoang and will be returning because of her delightful bedside manner. It'd been over 10 years since I saw an optometrist and I'm glad that I chose Dr. Hoang because she took her time to carefully explain all the machines she was using and how she was analyzing the data.
She's knowledgeable, professional, and a joy to be around.

Just seeking a new contact lens prescription to order new lens, I thought a quick an relatively inexpensive visit to CVS would provide the prescription I needed. Much to my great surprise. I found a wonderful doctor and, in addition, a kind and very helpful administrative service personnel for any paper work that may be required.

First time being here and will definitely come back! The office is actually in CVS, right next to the pharmacy and optical. I had brought in my glasses and she actually cleaned it for me. Also, she was thorough with the exam itself, explaining what she was doing and why. Furthermore, never had a retina screening before but interesting to get an ultrasound for my eyes. Highly recommend Dr. Hoang!
