Choosing an optician to care for your eye health is a big decision. Whether you have recently been to the opticians, or perhaps haven't had an eye exam in a little while, you will probably be familiar with the many tests that are routinely carried out at every appointment.

You will be asked to complete a series of simple tests (which should around 20-30 minutes, but can be longer if we feel it's necessary) which are all designed to measure certain things, including your visual acuity (how well you can see), and the health of the inside of your eyes using our state-of-the-art testing equipment, including retinal cameras, visual field equipment and tonometers which allows us to thoroughly examine your eyes and provide you with accurate results.

Digital retinal photography is a sophisticated process that allows us to take a very detailed picture of the back of your eye. It helps us to closely monitor your eye health as it can highlight a range of other conditions, including diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, risk of a stroke and symptoms associated with brain tumours.

All our visiting opticians are fully qualified and are experienced in conducting eye tests at home, and we will do everything we can to make our visit as stress free as possible. First of all, we'll take a few details just to make sure you are eligible for a free home eye test. If you are unable to leave home unaccompanied because of physical or mental illness or disability.
