Lots of hidden fees. Trash could be more than $150 dollar per month for a studio without an explanation. I gave the stars for previous manager. After he left, everything went chaos. The water in shower took long time to heat up, so that's pretty wasted of water.
I had contacted the building several times about my parking issue, since people are kept occupying. In addition, I just figured that they were overcharging me for the parking space for $225 when it said only $150 on my lease.

I worked with Shay to see the studio and one bedroom here. The one bedroom was already rented so she showed me another home as well at Amelia. She was professional, responded quickly and was a pleasure to work with. I hope a one bedroom comes open fast here, because the building has a great vibe to it!

They had no office in the building and they never read emails. If you are in luck someone will probably answer your phone (which is not the case for me. )
According to the lease I'm supposed to have my last two months of residency RENT-FREE. However, Maya didn't do as they promised-----they kept sending me rent invoice. After the hundredth time of me bombarding their phone, someone finally picked up and told me they had fixed this issue. I was so relived to know that I wasn't charged for October and just when I thought this would be the case for November I received an invoice AGAIN in November

TLDR: Expensive, poor quality, and non-existent management. DON'T MOVE HERE!
I'll start with the good, the apartments look great with lots of natural light and wood finish floors. The building is in a great location if you like dining out (but not so great during shelter in place though), and is half a mile from MacArthur BART.
Unfortunately that's where the list of positives end.
There are serious noise issues with the apartments. The floors are thin, cheap, and wooden, so if you want to hear the residents above and next to you moving around all day and night then Maya is the place for you

I previously posted a one star rating for this building based on initial interactions. However after meeting the building manager in person and seeing the units that were available I was truly impressed with what they had to offer. A small boutique community with a modern feel, great views of the Oakland hills and downtown and centrally located in a quaint neighborhood. The building manager was engaging, super easy to talk to and made the tour fun. Looking forward to possibly living at The Maya.

Been living here for 11 months now. Trying to give my 30 day notice before I move out at the end of my lease and I can’t get a hold of anyone. The physical office inside the building is closed, email bounces back and the voicemail I leave is not being returned. What am I suppose to do? Awful management, look elsewhere. It started out ok, but now it’s poorly managed.

I recently toured the Maya Apartments in Oakland and was instantly sold. The units are modern and brand spanking new. The units seem much larger than what they actually are and have everything you need. The location is great and I cannot wait for Brendas to open up on the ground floor. The amazing views of the San Francisco and Oakland skyline just adds to everything as well. Highly recommend this place for anyone!

Great location with tons of nearby stores and food options. I thought that all of the units had a great layout, modern kitchen design and brand new appliances. All of the windows were huge and I loved how much natural lighting it brought into the whole space. Great staff too, they were able to show me how I could make apartment living feel more like home, even in a busy city like Oakland.
