I lived in a 2/2 from 2017-2018 and a 1/1 in 2021… By far, Mount Vernon is one of the best apartment complexes in Gainesville! The price is unbeatable for an upgraded, large apartment that is CLOSE to UF campus and the VA and UF Health Shands Hospitals. Also, it was nice to have water included in the rent… Management is wonderful; especially Melissa! She went above and beyond to have my 1/1 apartment ready in time…Also, I appreciate how all management expects from residents is an open line of communication. I don't live here, I am just so annoyed that the place looks good, affordable, spacious floor plans and location is more than perfect,but no W/D, not even hookups !! Why would someone carry their clothes and share W/D at the time of pandemic especially if they have kids!! Why you bother having a dishwasher and a microwave but no washer or dryer !! I don't understand !

Really, I have to give credit to the whole Mount Vernon team. It starts with their leader, Melissa, and trickles down to the staff.
Melissa kept me updated on the repair, informed me of findings, and made sure I was taken care of. Glenda came outside to check on us while the mold was removed. John and Taylor were professional, kind, and knowledgeable. The mold team was efficent and effective.

Valentino took the time to tell me everything I needed to know about the apartments and the great specials going on right now. The best part of contacting this employee was how kind he was throughout the entire conversation. I have been really stressed about finding a place to live and am anxious talking on the phone so to have someone be that nice for my first call was very reassuring.

Lived here for a year and a half and it was an overall good experience. Melissa, the property manager, is very kind and helpful. We had some flooding issues being on the first floor, which is somewhat subgrade, but that was addressed and finally fixed and the rest of the living experience went pretty well.

The location is great for students and the prices are decent. The staff, however, were very unprofessional.
1. When my roommate and I signed our lease the staff member, Ben, got the apartment number wrong multiple times even after double checking himself and asking us "Are you sure?"
2. We had multiple cockroach sightings everyday when we first moved in. We told the office about this so they could perform pest treatment. The same staff member told us that "this is Florida", and proceeded to do nothing.
3. One outlet in the kitchen and the garbage disposal were not working so we put in a work

This can be best described as a hidden gem of Gainesville. The property may be older but but it sure is one of the best properties in Gainesville. I only spent a little over a year here but honestly I would do it all over again if I could. Let me tell you here and now that you don't need flashy amenities to make the right choice you need people who care working in the office, Melissa, the property manager is such a wonderful woman and she genuinely will go above and beyond to help you any way she can. Probably the worst place to live. Office manager and staff are very nice. Maintenance requests always addressed quickly. But seriously living here for 8.5 months and all of my requests have been for plumbing issues . Both toilets clogged multiple times , sinks as well. Flooding once. Just a headache for $1100/mo not worth it.

This apartment complex is really nice, but living here is really difficult if you have a unit next to the pool. Unfortunately, if you live in an apartment immediately next to the pool, people will be partying at the pool at 3 AM regularly and slamming the gates every other hour throughout the night. As far as the apartment itself, it is much nicer than other apartments within the same price range and in good shape. We also have no bug problems at all, even with being on the first floor. Overall, this place would have been perfect if it weren't for all the noise coming from the pool keeping me up

I cannot sing Mount Vernon Apartments praises enough. From day one when I started my application remotely, I've had an amazing experience with this apartment complex. It was a so smooth process! I was able to finish all the details even before I arrived in Gainesville. After lived here for a while, I can tell you that I love living here for a multitude of reasons. The most important one is that the Leasing Consultant Mitchell and Leasing Manager Melissa are by far the friendliest and kindest staff members I have met in my past seven years in the United States.
